My advice is for her sons to approach Midland bank which is now called HSBC in each town on the cracked code and apply to them under the unclaimed estate rules using the names next to the towns on the cracked code, it is quite feasible and believable after seeing her cash entries in the black books bought by auction by the man visited in the film that this money really does exist and that her past love interests do not know where it is much less have zccess to it, it will be a pain staking process tracking all the money down but the two remaining sons do have the right to claim her estate, whether the money will be seized by inland revenue is another question.. they still may be left with some money after taxes.

yes. she was most likely salting money into those accounts by working for cash. possibly someone else had access to the accounts and could clear them out every so often and move to channel islands. the code is people's middle names and their place of birth so e.g. Diana MARY Fluck - would be SWINDON. James WILSON Savile - LEEDS. I notice Dante is in there but his wiki entry doesn't give a middle name. so her 'friends' may have shafted her but it's a matter of finding out who she knew and not all of them may have been famous. can't understand how a bunch of worthless suitcases of paperwork went to auction really.

I suspect the accounts would have been flagged up at HSBC a long time ago as being dormant for so long. Unless of course someone else had access to the accounts.

I think the fact that Diana struggled badly financially in her later years having to sell stories to newspapers to pay the bills makes it more than highly unlikely anything was left to her sons especially such a massive amount of money & why she would do this is very strange indeed.... RIP both Diana & Alan who was a brilliant but very underrated actor.

Diana actually had a baby when she was 15, in a Swindon Maternity Home. I don’t know what sex it was, but it would be under her maiden name. I think if there’s money somewhere it would probably be in her maiden name.

There is an old saying "you never miss what you've never had". Were I in this situation I would be more gutted that the "the money people" win. Whatever bank the money is in the account will be closed after a time and the bank will simply have the money. ie The money wins as usual! The other thing that does occur to me is would our tax people go after the money as the relevant taxes at the time were never paid.. Good on Diana for that, clever girl. When I wound up my businesses I had to keep all of the financial records for five years. Apparently if I had for some reason to make a claim I had to do it within 5 years, BUT the taxman can make a claim on you for up to seven years.. As I said the money always wins. I must add I would not lie easy in my grave if I thought my son did not get every penny I left.

To be fair, even minor slebs could make a cushty living back then just doing the small stuff. She was always in panto, small parts, adverts etc. and she really led the life of a jobbing actress. But TV fame back then meant a lot more and because it was so rarefied anyone who had made it could make a nice living if they didn't get hung up on their pride. She lived near me and I knew someone who worked for her - I was a mere tiny Blob so her real days of fame were before my time but she had a nice enough life in what was Sleb Central back then - she's buried in the cemetery behind the road I grew up in. It backs onto what was John Lennon's country pile (you'd think I could have at least made some posh friends even if we did live at the distaff end. Huh!) so was obviously banking enough to live in the manner born. Kids were privately educated iirc so she must've been doing ok on a revenue basis at the least. The banks round there were rammed with dormant accounts too, cos money plus age provides the recipe. I don't know if this was ever concluded but since computerisation it would be a much easier chore to track down any money now. I don't think there'd be much though. For most of her working life taxation was high and anyone with big money put it offshore or joined Lloyds syndicates before that went to the dogs in the 80's. There are probably a handful of accounts all holding the sorts of sums that just sit there without gaining attention and are never claimed.

So it would seem it turns out to be a lot simpler than i though - having been thinking Swiss bank accounts and the like - She put lots of money in a lot of different bank accounts in different names all over the UK but without the other half of the details like the account numbers etc it will all be still lying there - Sounds logical for a person whose worst nightmare would have been to go back to having nothing to fall back on to do - Its such a shame - Of course there may have been someone somewhere with the other half of the information - and now thanks to this programme they got the other half
