On 15 and 16 June 1995, Diana, Princess of Wales enjoyed a 24-hour visit to the Russian capital of Moscow. As well as visiting the Kremlin and the Russian White House, Diana was treated to a special ballet performance of Les Sylphides at the Bolshoi Theatre, while she spent the second day of her visit at Tushinskaya Children's Hospital, of which the Princess was patron.

This was an important trip for anyone from the West to visit Russia which was only five years into its transition from communism. Princess Anne was the first British Royal to go there (1990) and it’s still amazing that Diana could go too. She dressed very simply to keep the focus on the people and her charm and friendliness won over everyone- despite the language barrier. Cute cameo from the Sun newspaper’s royal photographer, Arthur Edwards, near the end of the video.

@@sunshineandwarmth you need to read a history book or do a Google search. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother was 17 at the time of Tsar Nicholas II and his family's execution. How was a 17 year old girl not even married into the royal family responsible? King George V had way more responsibility for Tsar Nicholas II and his family's deaths. He could have gotten his cousin and his family out of Russia but he did not.
