If you have children and something happened to you would you want your children to feel guilty for enjoying and celebrating Christmas? Yes, remember him with love and be thankful that you had that opportunity to know and love him as long as you did but don't feel guilty that you are still alive. Celebrate Christmas and our loved ones that have passed. Our parents teach us to love and to enjoy life... do that in honor of your dad. In the midst of the tears, smile your acknowledgement of his love, his life and the his joy he had in you. Blessings.

@DH-ku6qg thank you for your words of encouragement. I think you misunderstood my meaning, I am not overwhelmed with grief it is more the idea of celebrating to excess. Dads anniversary has made me realise that the way Christmas has become is terrible consumerism. How many of us actually think of Jesus over the holidays.💞 Time with my family is not defined by one day of ridiculous spending. It is the moments of hearing/watching what they are doing. Like this morning my granddaughter trying to convince Daddy that she was in desperate need of bacon for her second breakfast because she has a reeeaally big day at kindy😉🥰

I just love hearing you to talk about things you make me laugh! The calendar is a great idea. I got a calendar for my girls every year to hang on their wall. They would mark important dates in their lives, even when they were little!t As a schoolteacher, I see many children do not really have a concept of months, days weeks and time so I think this would be a great gift.

I shop all year 'round (clearance, sales, "Maker's Market", etc). I do keep a list in a notebook. This year, I have a 'tasks' app on my phone. In addition to a running grocery list (according to stores I shop at), I also added 'Christmas Gifts'! So helpful!

Great question… I probably need to write a blog post that I can reference as it’s a lot to type here… to bless is to “bestow spiritual endowment,” and so so we can bless one another (as the Jewish patriarchs blessed their children each day) and we can also ask for the Lord’s blessing upon others. There’s so much more too… I’ll try to put more time into this in the new year!

A few years ago, everyone on my gift list got a bath towel with their name Embroidered on it. Different colours for each member of each household. Children (Big and small) had a small container (snack box) of lollies wrapped inside with a rubber band to hold with name showing. No gift tags or rubbish.🎉

Rather than print it, I sent it to the Noteful app. In that app, I can add my own notes, mark up the calendar, print any pages I want, delete any I don’t (I kept them all).
