I would love to see another episode of this game. Just to see how it plays once you start unlocking tech. Great jobs keeping us informed, Nook.

I finally beat The Stranded King. But I forgot to ascend a die so. It's a fun game.

It will be interesting to see how the variation in the game comes in. It is really appealing that the game makes you adapt to what you can do to make it harder to have rote solutions. Always hard to balance keeping the player on their toes rather than frustrating them.

Tis a pity that you've built peasant district hall and heater adjacent to each other, instead of building em near ya fields, windmill and woodcutters accordingly. But yet your play style is the best on tubes by far. The game definitely has its own pretty unique atmosphere, wish the devs good luck and keep on going!

The depiction of the ringworld is a bit disorienting; is the direction of gravity just into the surface of the ring? Also the amount of Coriolis and similar effects on a ring that tight would be brutal.
@jacobunderwood49573 жыл бұрын
Right, anything that spins in space simulates gravity using centrifugal force. With a ringworld (like in the Halo games), the whole thing spins, forcing matter out from the center. The gravity-like surface is on the inside of the ring, where you could stand looking up into the center of the ring and see the opposite "ground" surface on the other side.
@Latronibus3 жыл бұрын
@@jacobunderwood4957 Yes, in a real world ringworld the direction of gravity is "outward" due to the centripetal acceleration. But the ring here doesn't appear to be rotating, so it's harder to tell whether gravity should be "outward" or "downward" (where "down" is relative to the camera). All in all I'm not totally sure why they went with a ringworld besides making for a cool first impression.
@FeralXethx3 жыл бұрын
@@Latronibus Nitpicking much? - Would you prefer the ring to constantly be in motion and you having to change the camera every half a second? The kind of motion sickness that would induce in some people.... ugh.
@Latronibus3 жыл бұрын
@@FeralXethx I'm not advocating for a realistic ringworld. I was just responding to what Jacob said about how a real ringworld would work. If you wanted to implement such a thing in a game, it would be easy enough to have the camera work not be a nightmare. You just have the camera oriented over a patch of surface, rather than at a fixed reference point, and the camera "moves" by itself with the rotation of the ring (so it looks to the player like nothing is moving). This actually *mostly* seems to be what this game is doing, except you look at the ring from a weird angle that makes it apparent that it is a ring, there's the stuff in the void which is not moving appropriately relative to the camera, and most importantly the water seems to be categorically "down" for some reason rather than being pulled into the ring. Maybe the water thing gets explained when you circumnavigate the ring, if you ever do. I just don't really understand the point of going with this type of geography in the first place. The weird angle we look at it from creates some motion sickness without really creating any gameplay. Meanwhile the actual geography pretty much just creates a 2D topology where you can circumnavigate in one direction and not the other.
@jacksmith-vs4ct3 жыл бұрын
@@Latronibus the stuff in the void is moving up so perhaps the ring is actually moving down and that stuff is not moving all in all an odd aesthetic but a neat idea
