PMJ is loaded with jewels, so many great singers, and Scott Bradley is a musical genius. They also have some humorous things and a running gag or two in the videos. One of those is the drummer is almost always obscured from view. Check out "Seven Nation Army" with Haley or "Dream On" with Morgan James, "Pinky and the Brain" with Emily Goglia, or, or ,or.... Haley is not only a superb vocalist, she's also versatile. She slays rock songs and sings on "Can't Help Falling in Love" in a commercial for Extra gum that's so sweet and beautiful. Phenomenal talent and skill. Morgan James, likewise. Check out "Dear Prudence", by Morgan and Haley, a transcendent performance, while seated on Morgan's couch, for God's sake.

Now you need to listen to Post Modern Jukebox Morgan James doing her cover of "Dream On." You can thank me later. I quit smoking 30 years ago, but I always feel like I need a cigarette after watching this. Every vocal technique, every movement of her hands, and sway of her hips were perfect for the effect she was going for. She sounds like Marilyn Monroe looked.

For me Haley embodied this song from the female perspective, telling the story with her voice and movements to the music. She took the words and tried to sing what they meant to her, she didn't try to copy what Thom did for his song. Bottom line: The fact that a cover can be this incredible from the music to the singing to the storytelling and still be considered on the same level as the original, just proves the original has to be something special also.

Actually, according the the 'about' video by Scott, she was tired from performing so much. There is absolutely no mention of 'ill', 'sick', or anything other than her voice was tired. I've yet to find any, ANY credible source for the illness rumor. So, if you have a credible source, i.e. Haley, Scott, or a band/crew member saying she was sick, please post it. So far, all this is, is an unsubstantiated rumor.

LOVE this treatment they gave it! OOOHHHHHHHH, she brings the gravel too!!!!!!! And she only placed third?? WTF!! The break when they brought it back down right before you paused the second time...complete goosebumps!!! LOL @ "Thank you for coming to my tik tok." The music is incredible, but her vocals...she's singing from her heart and soul and it is spectacular! You know the song is good when you can FEEL the song because of they way it is being performed and this was awesome!! Living the song, indeed! Some great comments on that page for the video. Another great song and reaction, thanks!!

Everyone assumed Pia Toscano was going to win, but she came in 9th and everyone was shocked. Some even said Jennifer Lopez got rid of her cause Pia was the hottest girl there. No clue if there's any truth to that. Others said her personality is why she finished 9th. Again, no clue if there's any truth to that either. Second place went to Lauren Alaina and first went to Scotty McCreery, the first country singer to win Idol. "Now", Haley is the best, but back then it was Pia. No clue what Pia is doing today, but I'm sure she's singing somewhere.

Totally missed this video somehow when you first posted. PMJ is something I only recently ran across, and this one certainly made an impression on me as well. As someone who sang in a bar band for years and years, first - she has a marvelous voice and interpretation of the song. But MAD props for something that non-singers may not understand - if you are doing a "naked" key modulation and awaiting the band to back you up, as happened near the end of this song, it is one of the scariest things you can do (been there, it always turned out okay, but sometimes the audience reacts as though you have gone off key.) But as I always tell folks who want to sing, "If you are going to be wrong, be wrong at the top of your voice!" That said, she NAILED that modulation and return to original key at the end. Belated thumbs up.

PMJ is a deep rabbit hole, with many amazing songs (and more than a few that are ... OK). Some you might enjoy (because they are some of my favorites): "Dream On" with Morgan James "All About That Bass". There are two versions, both are good, but the European Tour version features three singers and some crazy bass playing "Crazy" with Hannah Gill The "Perfect" duet The A Capella version of "We Won't Stop" "Crazy Train" "MMMbop" "Maps" "Seven Nation Army" "Say Something" "Talk Dirty" in klezmer style and Yiddish rap is pure fun Many more... In most cases, I'm not a big fan of the originals ("Dream On" and "Crazy Train" being notable exceptions), but PMJ gives me a new appreciation for them. In most cases, the video adds a dimension that makes the experience really special

This is how covers are supposed to be, imo. If you're just singing someone else's song without doing anything to it you're just a karaoke singer. You should always try to re-imagine or interpret a song you're covering in a new way or you're not really adding anything creative to the world, you're basically just plagiarizing someone else's creation. PMJ and Ms. Reinhart really did an incredible thing with this. I love the original, but I love this version just as much, for entirely different reasons.

It’s a way less negative song as soon as you lock into the point of view and self realization of the “I don’t belong here” lyric. A singing coach that reacted to this put it in the women's view in the era of this style of song. Women were expected to be a housekeeper, a mom, a wife and a hooker, with no consideration for her wants or happiness being a priority, all the while looking like a smiling magazine model. The change of what her voice feels like thoughout the song is the role she is expected to play, the frustration into rage of not being happy with a lot of it and then, "oh" snap back into character before the kids and hubby come home. That analogy seems pretty spot on for this performance, don't you think?! Hide the sharpe objects and the hammer before going to bed hubby! Too creepy? 😁🤙😎

Enjoyed your analysis, especially enjoyed your reactions, we OG fans call it the WTF moment ;). My channel has 8 years of Live Haley performances, have posted a lot of Creep videos (In fact, I just posted one today, from two years ago, Haley accompanied only by her Dad, Harry, on guitar ;) ). A thing I find weird is there's always a few comments that say they think Haley shouldn't sing this song because she doesn't understand the song because she's too beautiful, would not, could not feel the depths of the message of the song. My usual reply is EVERYBODY has moments of self doubt, sometimes self loathing, even the 'beautiful people', how many have committed suicide?.... The logic implies only damaged, unattractive people can sing "Creep"? LOL. Haley is AMAZING live and I highly recommend you experience her for yourself the next opportunity. Cheers :) *BTW*. This is video of my first time seeing Haley perform Creep Live w/ PMJ in 2015, before the official PMJ video was posted, in the UK. The crowd was stunned, all I heard was gasps when she sang "fncking special" (In Haley's live shows, she sings the explicit lyric. PMJ doesn't do it for the video because, well, you know), they only broke the silence w/ applause: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJLagXxsgtamipI

So glad you did this song. It is one of my favorites. There is something I will say about it, though. You will get a 100 people who will say this was done in 1 take. It was. People will say she was sick when she did this. She wasn't. She was tired, having performed the whole week, plus the recording for "All About The Bass". This video was shot on the same day and on the same set as two other videos; "All About The Bass" and "Style". There is a "The Story Behind 'Creep'" video with Scott Bradlee commenting about it on KZbin. (You can get the full story here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6TOfIZ-ZrCZarc) One thing about PMJ is that they may change a song, tweaking it for a different time genre, but they don't change the lyrics. For instance, when Hailey sings the part that goes: "She's running out the door. She's running out. She run, run, run, run", she keeps the gender. As for American Idol... Yep, she was there. Season 10. She finished in 3rd place. I would recommend you watch either "All About The Bass" or "Dream On" with Morgan James. As for Billie Eilish... I wonder if she said that before or after Pentatonix did "When The Party's Over"... ((LOVE THAT SONG!)) P.S.: This song, in my opinion, is about a guy who dominates a woman: "I don't care if it hurts I wanna have control I want a perfect body I want a perfect soul I want you to notice When I'm not around"

I agree with your dissection in this video I haven't looked at the other one I will go look at it but I got the gist of what you were saying and I agree that the song is the person that singing the song that feels like they are creep and a weirdo is keeping their feelings to themself they feel like they need the perfect body the perfect soul to stay with the person that they think is so wonderful but they're trapped because they're not those things and they don't feel like they're those things and I feel like when Haley gets to the end and she's so wrapped up and she changes key and she goes way up and like shifts into you know 12th gear and then comes back down to really really soft it's like when she goes way up it's like the person that feels like a creep screaming to get out the feeling the trap but they come back down into themselves and don't now that's just my take on it but I think it's a really fantastic interpretation of the song I love both of the interpretations creep has been one of my favorite songs and I'm 55 years old thank you for the reaction I realize you reacted a long time ago but I just got on to reactions about a couple months ago so I'm going back through a lot of the ones that come up on my recommended thanks again

strongly recommend "all about the base" next. another great post modern jukebox collaboration that includes haley along with two other great female singers... then you can follow up with her "extra" commercial version of "can't help following in love with you" originally song by elvis presley. haley is truly amazing and addictive. she has elements of janis joplin, maria carey, ella fitzgerald, etta james, with splashes of minnie mouse, marilyn monroe and yes, jessica rabbit that create this unbelievable combination of jazz, rock&roll and soul that is so unique... her video cover of "creep" maybe the best of all time followed closely with "hurt" by johnny cash and recently dreams by lane gardner... enjoy!

Didn't read the comments, but in case nobody else said, Haley does some excellent rock covers including Led Zeppelin and The Animals

Oh, great you arrived on PMJ in general and Haley in particular. If you liked this (let's see...), please react on their newest cooperation "Don't Speak" (No Doubt cover), that's hilarious as well! And she's got quite of other great performances out there... subbed already, but would sub again for Haley and PMJ...

Another postmodern jukebox artist to check out, Morgan James. Their cover of Dream On and Take Me to Church are great.

Listen to PMJ's cover of Tears for Fears "Mad, Mad World". In fact listen to the original first and then the cover. Another sad song done up in a totally different style.

🤠The "what the heck" part is called "scatting." It was made popular and perfected by the late great jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald. 👍
@gynack

John English Louis Armstrong did that with his Hot Five in the 20's. However, you're right that it was Ella who really made a feature of it, and was the finest exponent of it. But then she was the finest exponent of everything she did!

I just found your channel because of this reaction. I don't know how you take requests, but if you enjoy digging into the lyrics, there is a rock group made up of 3 sisters from Mexico who write lyrics that are in straight up in your face and often quite dark. In fact, their 2nd album is a concept album that tells of a woman progressing from unrequited love to obsession to murder and eventually suicide from her deluded point of view. It is, simply put, a masterpiece and a travesty that it wasn't chosen as independent album of the year. You should check it out whether you react to any of their music or not.

Lmao! I just realized I didn't tell you the name of the group. They are called The Warning. Their second album I was referring to is Queen of the Murder Scene. Their official video of XXI Century Blood, the title track from their first album is also really worth a look.

This is an amazing song and one of my favorites of all time. Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Post Modern Jukebox. It is a wonderful journey. All About that Bass, Seven Nation Army, Dream On, Umbrella and more. Scott Bradley is a genius. Lot's to discuss about this song. First, this was not the first cover done by PMJ. Back in I believe 2013 - 2014 time frame Scott did this version but with Karen Marie. Here is the link - it's pretty good. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYbFZKminreFjqs just fascinated
