That said, I still think Jesus is coming back and soon... and I need Him to because this world, the pain in it, the demonic powers in it, it's just so out of wack. Yes, after waking up to the truth about the earth not being a globe in space 7 + yrs ago I now believe Rapture and the Great Tribulation already happened. Don't know how I ever missed "God set the earth on its Foundation so that it would not move", "The earth was established so that it cannot move", "The Pillars are the Lords and he has set the earth upon them". Then when we look at the physics of water how water always needs to be contained in nature how water cannot conform around the outside of shapes in reality. That debunks the globe/pear as gravity even if real cannot change the behavior of water. Then I also missed-"God brought the earth out of water and surrounded it with water", "The Firmament separates the water above from the water below". Meaning space is a water. When we look at science that also confirms scripture. Space cannot possibly be a vacuum due to the natural law of Thermodynamics. As we cannot have gas pressure next to a vacuum without containment. Examining Sprites, sun dogs and rainbows also give evidence to the firmament the encloses the earth. We were all deceived by the "father of lies"-Satan. Once we see the truth of Gods creation the blinders come off and we can then discover much more hidden truth in our reality and history.

It would seem that way. Nero fits the antichrist figure perfectly. Nero's nickname was the beast and even non Christians said he was the worst human being of his time. The millennium is what seems unclear to me. Also who were or are the two witnesses. I personally tend to lean more towards the millennium already happened and we're in the stage of the enemy being allowed to deceive the nations for a little while and gathering the nations to make war against The Lamb. This could just be a coincidence but the great schizim happened roughly 1,000 years after (1054 A.D.) maybe that was the literal millennium. That still doesn't explain the enemy being loosed for a "little while". Since it's been another 1,000 years (roughly) since the church split. (Assuming that the church splitting was the millennium)

Usually I see this belief branch into other beliefs like dominion theology or theonomic reconstructionalism. It really distracts believers from the Gospel because they are stuck thinking they are supposed to mainly be "taking dominion of the land" in order to "begin reigning with Christ". It's hard because it's often hard to reason with them too...I love them so dearly and I believe them to be true believers, but just very distracted believers... However, and please don't take this wrongly (I only want to have a mutually beneficial and encouraging conversation ☺️), but I believe that Rev. 20:7-10 is talking about a short amount of time after the 1,000 year reign, the final battle. That after a perfect rule under Christ and the Church, the people's hearts, those who had the mark of the beast, would still rebel. That as soon as Satan is released they are immediately deceived and follow him in one last hopeful attempt to fight against Christ and His power. I believe that this would make sense since the antichrist would have already come, which as we see now, he has not yet come. So you know my standing, I'm a historic premillennial when it comes to eschatology. @@mcgragor1 I'm not sure which friends you're referring to being "spot on". But yes, I've studied it a lot. Especially along side of family and other brothers and sisters in the church who had similar concerns at the time. We all felt that dominion theology almost always got distracted from the gospel and focused too much on the law, which we all know Christ came to fulfill. Our study of the topic hasn't ended either, we continue to talk to our dear brothers and sisters in Christ who are caught up in dominion theology, and we constantly work to ensure that we are seeking the scriptures and have them be our highest authority on every matter. I will be quick to admit I'm not the strongest in memorizing scripture or having my points on the tip of my tongue. But I have read the many different passages that both sides argue and feel very confident that dominion theology is a distracted theology that centers around the law not Christ. And if we are looking at whether or not Christ has returned for his second coming, scripture is clear that every eye will see and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord on that day. And that has not happened. We are also still waiting for the many signs Christ said would come before. Like the abomination that makes desolation that will seat himself on the temple throne. It can't have happened if the temple hasn't even been rebuilt! And no man has come, declaring himself to be God, and have signs and wonders that deceive all but the elect. And the millennial reign with Christ is a reign WITH Christ. Not the just holy spirit, with Christ. Christ is not here. We are still waiting. Christ will return. And what a joyous day that will be! @@justanother240 No way around the time statements? Please show me a list of these time statements that _unequivocally_ refer to Jesus coming in the clouds, or returning in the way he was seen returning to the earth that indicate that it would happen in 70 AD. I have no problem with the fact that JUDGEMENT was impending in the region, that Jerusalem would fall, and that the temple would be destroyed. Concerning Jesus return however, what we see in the NT is exactly what we would expect given the following facts: 1. that the Apostles did NOT know the time of Jesus return. 2. that is was NOT for them to know the times and seasons the Father had determined. 3. that despite this they were responsible for making sure that the flock under their care would not fall asleep. Failure to understand these biblical fact is why the time statements are being missinterpreted. It is also apparant to me that _both_ preterists and futurists missunderstand Matthew 24:34 and therefore try to squeeze all the end time events into a way too small period of time. Jesus did NOT say that all these events would occur "within a generation" as is so often claimed. I can show you what Jesus was really talking about if you want. Apart from a few verses in Revelation (which can, and have been explained from a futurist perspective), the only time statements that I am aware of in the NT that UNQUESTIONABLY refer to Jesus return are the following, and they ALL indicate that it will be a long time coming: "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away *A LONG TIME,...’"* (Matthew 24:45) "The bridegroom was *A LONG TIME* in coming, and *they ALL became drowsy and fell asleep."* (Matthew 25:5) "After A LONG TIME the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them." (Matthew 25:19) That's three parables in a row that ALL indicate that Jesus would return after a long time! And finally we have the following prophecy written by Peter only a few years before Jerusalem fell, not saying that people were losing patience in HIS day, but some time in the future: "Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation." (2 Peter 3:3-4) And "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:8-9) Now I don't think for a moment Peter believed that Jesus would return thousands of years later. But that, acccording to Peter himself, is how prophecy works! The author is carried along by the Holy Spirit often unaware of the deatails of his prophecy because they serve later generations. These passages also indicate that Jesus return was conditional!

For me this was Pentacost - and the subsequent outpouring of the holy spirit that followed with many other righteous jews were "born again" and subsequently raptured before and during the destruction of Jerusalem and other Jewish cities. But the real question is do you think that means Jesus job was finished ? That was the second coming and now there is nothing more. Most (I would think pretty much all) christians would say no. Even if you believe he did return to his followers in their life time we believe the words he spoke to the Christian churches in revelation - after the destruction of Jerusalem. After all his core disciples had already left the physical realm as martyrs except for John who writes revelation an estimated 20 years after the roman siege of Jerusalem while being held captive on the island of Patmos. Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. ew believe that Jesus stands ready to "come again" to anyone who earnestly repents and dedicates themselves to him and Gods will. That he will come to them and make his home with them and they will be filled with his holy spirit.

We know that the Savior initially came as the Suffering Servant, and that He will come again as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Why is it so hard to believe that He came & exacted judgment on His own generation, just as He promised, and that He will yet come again at the end of the world, & we will all participate in the Marriage Supper of The Lamb? 70 A.D. sure does not sound like a party. And BTW, the millennial reign was the so called dark ages. It started around 450AD, with the destruction of Rome, the extent of the world as people knew it, & ended around 1450AD, with the advent of the so-called enlightenment. You have to wonder how all of that magnificent architecture & technology existed and yet there are virtually no written records. It really makes me wonder what is in the vatican archives, and I'm a cradle catholic.

The real question is are we now living in the time when Satan is released for a little while before the new heaven and earth are made. (Clear diction is nice, it it doesn’t strengthen the argument.)

How could Jesus possibly say that he would return thousands of years later if he didn't know when he would return? And if God's will is that we live our lives as if Jesus could return at any moment then surely saying it would take thousands of years would be self-defeating, would it not? Jesus gave us three parables in a row that indicate that he would not return "soon", but after "a long time". Such a long time in fact that _everyone_ would turn drowsy and fall asleep. Doesn't that count?

He that says that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and he that says that Jesus Christ has not come in the flesh is not of God. Now let me say it in English. He that says that Jesus has already come back, and he is in them is filled with the Holy Ghost. He said I will never leave you or forsake you, where do you think he is? And he that says that Jesus has not come in the flesh yet, but waiting for him to come back is the church of the devil, antichrist, the spirit of error. The whole world is in error, They're nothing but religion, no spirituality. I asked him when are you coming back? And he answered, I am in you. Jesus how long have you been back, since the day of Pentecost. Jesus is not Catholic, nor is he Pentecostal or anything in between, that is man making up stuff. Mark my words, Jesus Christ is back, how else could we be the body of Christ if he wasn't back? Here are two things that you don't know, there's no water in baptism and Christ returned already. And the rapture is catching up to the mind of God in breathable air. I was taken but my brothers and sisters were left behind. Taken for what reason, to be meat for the master's use. Now I've told you the truth and you cannot receive it. So, what did we learn here? There's no water in baptism, nor are there hands, Jesus Christ has already returned, and he is in us, and if we're born from above and Christ is formed in us, we're already raptured. Denomination religions are not of God. It's man's ideology. Sorry you're all wrong. He that has the Son, has life. He that has not the Son, has not life. His real name was Yeshua Christos, and he is in me, and I am in him. This is that day that nobody wanted to hear the truth. The children of God cannot sin because the seed has remained.

[From 1 Corinthians 15] All will be made alive. Christ was first. Those who belong to Christ will be raised unto eternal life at His coming. Later (when Death is destroyed), the rest will be raised and judged. Then, there's the lake of fire/second death.

I think a big issue with this topic in Christianity is that it doesn't actually teach about the Roman Siege of Jerusalem in 70AD at all. Like it just basically ignores it. Whether or not you believe this was the "true second coming" of christ (I think it was for the jews - but not his final coming) Its really weird how its not included in the teaching at all - because its very clear its one of the primary reasons Jesus came when he did. In Matthew 24 he says the destruction of the temple would be a "key sign". 70AD was essentially the "Day of the Lord" for the jews of that time. Just like the Babylonian Exile in 500-600 BC and just like the Egyptian slavery and Exodus in 2000 BC - Jesus came ahead of the "Day of the Lord" it to provide "grace" so it could "passover" them. Christianity weirdly "skips" the judgement part and the destruction of Jerusalem. We get little pieces like Jesus weeping for the city of Jerusalem as he rides in on a donkey foretelling its destruction because they did not head his teaching. But then the bible "skips" it actually happening and leaves it out of not just scripture but the wider theoligical teaching on Christ and what happened following his death. Thats the part I find most difficult to understand. Most christians I speak with genuinely don't even know what happened in 70AD because its never discussed or taught on.

It’s for the gentiles as well.. Hence HEAVENLY FATHER sending Jesus to make that possible.. And you do have a valid point, but ultimately it’s having faith in knowing THE WORD OF GOD that’s important and not anyone else interpretation , hence making sure we knew we shouldn’t rely on our own understandings as we are not even close to understanding how or why GOD does what he does as we are just mere humans who have all been subconsciously reconditioned just by existing on this earth. Which is why we just simply ask HIM if we don’t understand something, and he will inevitably lead us to the answer , always. If you’ve ever noticed that when you pick up the Bible and randomly open it , as you start re reading the same things over again it either begins to take on a whole new meaning than what had originally resonated prior or becomes much more understandable , either at that moment or shortly after it will definitely resonate more . (Some things more obvious than others we as humans tend to forget that sometimes it’s not as difficult as we perceive things to be, to only eventually find it was much more simple than we had realized.) and will inevitably see even the smallest details playing out in the world or our personal lives.. That’s why we should always keep rereading the Bible through our time on earth as that’s how we be capable of understand it, to be able to get the most out of it, in due time. Which we know truly pleases GOD . Hope that is of some help to you 🙏
@David-_-_-3 жыл бұрын
@@t.rok13 Yes I agree with your first comments. After his death and resurrection Jesus opened the covenant to gentiles as well (thankfully as I am one :) ) Up until that point he had been exclusively ministering to 'The lost sheep of Israel'. He was doing this because of the coming judgement that was coming for Israel. Basically trying to get them to repent to avoid or have "passover" them what happens in 70AD. As he rides into Jerusalem he crys for the city and says the time for repentance is now over and their fate is sealed and whats required of them "will be hidden from their eyes". Luke 19:41 Then after his resurrection he then opened the teaching and the new covenant to also go to the gentiles with the disciples and Paul being instructed to take the Gospel to the whole world. But still the fact the siege of Jerusalem is completely ommited from Christian teaching and theology is just bizarre. It would be like if the book of Exodus excluded the plagues of Egypt or if they just skipped over what happened in the Babylonian exile in the old testament. (The previous days of the Lord). Its one of the most important events related to Jesus ministry. It makes absolutely no sense and "confuses" the story and teaching by omitting an event Jesus said was vitally important and prophesized and spoke about on multiple occasions with his disciples. To me it kind of seems like as the Church seperate from Judaism it "over gentiled" the teaching. Removing the key Jewish specific parts of Jesus ministry. It also gives a skewed view of the reality of what happened to the Jewish people who didn't head his teaching / warning.

1 Thess 4:15 “For this we say unto [you] by the word of the Lord, that [we] that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede [them] that are fallen asleep.” Who's the “them?” Those who had died! Then the other pronouns refer to those who are alive then! Whom are the “you” and “we” that Paul is addressing? Pronouns matter in the text! It was his original readers. THEY were the ones who would experience the things Paul was writing about. THEY were the ones who “some” would be alive at the coming of the Lord. Some of THEM. Not 2000 years later! So this man would tell that young lady that the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write to the Thessalonians, telling THEM that some of THEM would be alive to see the events he was describing, in order to settle their concerns over those who had already died; and it was all a lie??????????? Do you actually believe the Holy Spirit would do that???? That Paul could get that so vigorously wrong?????? Balderdash! And that trumpet: MT 24:31 “And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a [trumpet], and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” There's your trumpet described right there after the “tribulation of those days” MT 24:29, that was when THAT temple in Jerusalem was destroyed in 70AD. There is no confusion or ambiguity here. 1 Cor 15:51,52, 58 “Behold, I tell [you] a mystery: [We] all shall not sleep, but [we] shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and [we] shall be changed.” Whom do the pronouns correspond to? The original readers of Paul's letter!! :58 “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, be [ye] stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as [ye] know that [your] labor is not vain in the Lord.” Why would Paul say this to people liven THEN, if it referred to person living 2000 years in the future? It's meaningless to them that way. 2 Thess 1:6 “since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with (tribulation) (MT 24:29) those who trouble [you], (THEM) 7 and to give [you] who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” THEY were to witness the vengeance on that generation, and the subsequent resurrection. This man knows nothing about the over 100 time statements in the New Testament alone. Meaning? His timing is off.

Preterism seems to make sense of quite a few verses that are strange if Jesus did not return in the generation that spoke with Jesus during his pre-crucifixion years. Was Jesus wrong? Confused? It does not add up. In Thessalonians, an honest read suggests very strongly those who are alive in Christ - his readers - will be joined with those already dead. Or, the return of Christ was close. Not more than 2,000 years away. Not much comfort in that! Read it for yourself. 1 Thessalonians 4. The whole chapter (or book really) is best. They quite clearly thought as do the readers of most the new testament letters that Jesus was about to return. Preterism seems to work better in my opinion.

Apparently you have not read Josephus' War of The Jews. All those things were recoded by the historian that was witnessed by HUNGREDS of people in 70AD. You are not speaking from a position of knowledge. And that's a shame.

I think John has conflated events on the timeline, and so assumes the church in question thinks those events happen rdtogether too, and so he's not responding to what that church actually believes. John is responding to why his understanding of the events can't have happened yet. Heresay questions make bad discussions.

Preterism of any type is built upon the false premise of an early date for Revelation. The post-70 A.D. dating of the book of Revelation renders all preterist thought null and void. You can be a futurist and believe in the early date (Neronic) or late date for this book, since even if the Neronic dating were true it wouldn't have any effect doctrinally. But it's impossible to be a preterist and hold to the late (Domitianic) date, so preterists will fight tooth and nail to defend the early date even when it's indefensible. The earliest Christian historian who recorded the church's knowledge of the Domitianic dating of Revelation was Hegessippus in 150 A.D. (around the time when most of those who would have known John had likely already died), and this continued to be the accepted unanimous view until about 4 centuries later with the Syriac Peshitta NT manuscript in which someone wrote that John was exiled under Nero. It is sometimes claimed that the Neronic dating is in the original, but this is impossible since the original lacked the book of Revelation. From what I've been able to gather, there is no source or reasoning given for this change in that 6th century manuscript. This is problematic at best, and lacks the authoritativeness that would be required to credibly make such a huge revision to what was commonly accepted and passed down from the end of the first century/beginning of the 2nd. The same can be said for the Muratorian Fragment, which is the 7th century copy of the 2nd century original, with no way to prove the Neronic dating was in the original. There is no record of any of the early church fathers holding to the early mid-60's date of Revelation. A fascinating glimpse into the early church fathers and what they believed on a variety of topics is in 'A Dictionary of Early Christian Beliefs', over 700 pages compiled by David Bercot. In addition to Hegessippus (who, notably, wrote this some 30 years prior to Irenaeus), Tertullian , Eusebius, Jerome, Sulpicius Severus, and a number of other church fathers both before and not long after the council at Nicaea all confirm that John was exiled to Patmos by Domitian where he received Revelation. The lack of any dissenting view naming Nero in place of Domitian until the 6th century should give early-date advocates pause. This cannot be swept under the rug so easily. That's like if someone today claimed that Queen Elizabeth I of England had a child, when in fact we know that she died childless in 1603. It would not be seen as a credible claim because there's no evidence for it. Likewise, from John's death until the 6th century there passed over 400 years without a single claim of Nero exiling John to Patmos. Not one. So at least most of the events of Revelation are still in our future (some view the messages to the churches as having already been strictly for them and completely fulfilled, while some view each church as symbolic for a different time period, and of course there could be room for double-fulfillment of most of those first 3 chapters). There was a celebration on Patmos in 1995 commemorating 1900 years (approximately, as in 95 or 96 A.D.) since the Revelation Jesus gave to John. Also, what other events in the 1st century A.D. are ever claimed as taking place 2 or 3 decades earlier (or later, for that matter)? With all of the accurate records kept during the Roman Empire era and surviving today, there is little room for such a vast difference being feasible. It's commonly believed that Jesus died around 30 or 33 A.D., Paul and Peter were martyred in the 60's, Nero lived from 37-68 A.D., etc. No one says Jesus died in 3 A.D. or 60 A.D., or that Peter and Paul were martyred in the 30's A.D. or 90's A.D., or that Nero actually reigned around the time of Jesus' ministry as recorded in the Gospels. The majority of scholarship places John's writing of Revelation in the mid-90's, but somehow preterists think it's ok to go against the overwhelming consensus of the past 2000 years? Why isn't this the case with any other historical event from the same time period? The great fire of Rome took place for nearly a week during 64 A.D., but no one places it in 54 A.D. let alone 34 A.D. A powerful earthquake in 60 A.D. devastated Laodicea. And yet no one ever says that earthquake took place in 30 A.D. 30 years prior. I have yet to see any preterist respond to this fact with even a shred of credibility. Domitian exiling John to Patmos was common knowledge among the ante-Nicene church. With the vast majority of evidence to the contrary, preterism literally rests on this single pillar of the dating of the book of Revelation. And, really, that is no pillar at all in light of the historicity of the late date. For preterists who think the early date of Revelation is valid, please consider the following: for a timeline comparison: Queen Elizabeth I of England died childless in 1603. Historians agree on this. What if someone today claimed that she actually did have children? How seriously would this claim get taken? That's about the length of time we're talking about here from the time of John's death in the reign of Trajan, until the first claim that he was exiled under Nero (instead of Domitian as had been understood for over 400 years). The lack of convincing evidence for an early date for Revelation precludes any and all preterist interpretation of Scripture.

If anything other than futuristic premillennialism be true, then when we look at Revelation 20, the Abyss is an easily escapable prison that cannot be sealed against those who wish harm against the saints, and the greatest of God's angels in charge of demonic incarceration are no better than the Keystone Cops.

Multiple Second Coming Visions in Revelation: (book not in chronological order ) Christ returns one time in the future. However, there are several different visions of His return shown from different perspectives in the Book of Revelation. Christ returns at the end of Revelation chapter 6, with signs in the sun, moon, and stars, as are found in the Olivet Discourse. Those at the end of the chapter are hiding from the wrath of the Lamb. Why would they be hiding if Christ is not present? The "kings", "captains", "might men", "free", and "bond" are also found in chapter 19 at the return of Christ. He returns at the 7th trumpet, which is the last trumpet in the Bible, and the time of the judgment of the dead in Revelation 11:15-18. The beginning of chapter 12 is a history lesson containing the fall of Satan, and the birth and death of Christ, who is the seed promised to crush the head of Satan in Genesis 3:15. The Second Coming is found in the "harvest" of chapter 14, which is related to the parable of the wheat and tares in Matthew chapter 13. He comes as a thief at Armageddon, and we find the greatest earthquake in history in chapter 16. This occurs when the 7th angel pours out his vial. How powerful is an earthquake which moves islands and destroys the mountains? What is happening to the planet? He comes on a horse in chapter 19. Chapter 20? Does He come with the fire, and the judgment of the dead at the end of chapter 20, which agrees with what Paul said in 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10, and 2 Timothy 4:1? (The time of the judgment of the dead is also found in Revelation 11:18.) There are no mortals left alive on the planet at the end of Matthew 25:31-46. Why does an angel come down from heaven with a key to unlock the bottomless pit in Revelation 9:1-2, if the pit was not already locked before that time? Are there wicked angels in the pit in Rev. 9:11? If the beast "ascends" from the pit in Rev. chapter 11, where was the beast before that time? Does your view agree with Peter in 2 Pet. 2:4, and Jude in Jude 1:6, when they both said wicked angels are already in chains of darkness? Revelation 9:14 proves some of the angels were previously bound in some manner. Because the two witnesses were bodily resurrected from the dead in Revelation 11, the "first resurrection" at the beginning of Revelation 20 is not the first bodily resurrection in the book. The principle of "Recapitulation" means there are multiple visions of His return.

@@SpotterVideo Incorrect. I humbly suggest a few of good books: "Revelation 20 and the Millennial Debate," by Matthew Waymeyer. Chapter 7 of his book is entitled, "The Chronology of Revelation 19-20: Recapitulatory or Sequential?" "Premillennialism, Why There Must Be a Future Earthly Kingdom of Jesus," by Michael Vlach "Revelation, An Exegetical Commentary," Two Volumes by Robert L. Thomas "Christ's Prophetic Plans, A Futuristic Premillennial Primer," edited by John MacArthur and Richard Mayhue "Because the Time is Near," by John Macarthur

@@lawrencestanley8989 I used to believe the premill doctrine, until I found out it did not agree with the rest of the New Testament as revealed below. A Millennium Puzzle to solve… Will Christ be conducting funeral services for mortals killed in accidents 500 years after His Second Coming? The “first resurrection” in Rev. chapter 20 is not the first bodily resurrection in the Book of Revelation, because the two witnesses are resurrected from the dead in chapter 11. There are two different types of resurrection in John chapter 5. There is a spiritual resurrection from the dead in John 5:24, and a bodily resurrection from the dead in John 5:28-29. Does your view of the Millennium agree with what Paul said in 2 Thess. 1:7-10, when Paul said Christ returns in "flaming fire" taking vengeance on those who do not obey the Gospel? The fire comes at the end of Rev. chapter 20. Does your view agree with what Peter said in 2 Peter 3:10-13, when Peter said this earth is going to burn and "dissolve" when He comes as a thief on the day of the Lord? The fire comes at the end of Rev. chapter 20. Does your view agree with what Paul said in 2 Tim. 4:1, when Paul said both the living and the dead will be judged at His appearing? The time of the judgment of the dead, with reward for some and destruction for others is found in Rev. 11:18, right after the 7th trumpet, which is the last trumpet in the Bible. (This verse also proves the Book of Rev. is not in chronological order.) The judgment of the dead is also found at the end of Rev. chapter 20. Does your view agree with what Jesus said in Matt. 25:31-46, where He described the judgment of the sheep and goats, which leaves no mortals alive on the planet at the end of the passage? There are also no mortals left alive on the planet at the end of Rev. chapter 19. Does your view agree with Peter in 2 Pet. 2:4, and Jude in Jude 1:6, when they both said wicked angels are already in chains of darkness? Does your view agree with what John recorded in Rev. 9:1-2, when an angel comes down from heaven with a key to unlock the pit, which means the pit was locked before that time? Are there wicked angels already in the pit in Rev. 9:11? John recorded angels already "bound" in Rev. 9:14. The beast "ascends" out of the pit in Rev. chapter 11, which means the beast was in the pit before that time. Take all of the above and compare it to the symbolic language found in Rev. chapter 20, and the fact the Book of Revelation is not in chronological order, and you will have the truth.

You are speaking of before he actually came back. Yes the apostles and followers that were still alive. Not those that have yet to be born. Count how many times you read "you". He was talking to real people during that day. Why would he be warning people of that day about a lawless man they would never know? Those of us still alive....so are there people still alive 2000+ years later?

It’s unfortunate that you focus on an unseen moment. I think the main preterist argument is that the enemy has been let loose and we’re living in an age of deception. To be clear I’m not a preterist. I have been looking for good arguments on the topic though.
