I was the caller here. And there are reasons why I think Genesis 6 should be viewed in a supernatural way. 1. I never once said the sons of God were to be confused to be the Nephilim. Who were the ones that God directed the flood for. 2. Why would God direct the flood to the Nephilim? It’s not a coincidence that every tribe associated with giants were put to the sword. Remember Samuel and the Amorites, put all of them to the sword. Chedorlaomer and 3 kings waged war with the Rephaim, (a later descendant of the Nephilim after the flood), who proved that Sodom and Gamorrah had giants, hence why God burned it, because he said he would never flood them. Chedorlaomer never did anything that Joshua didn’t. King Og of Bashan in Deuteronomy 4 is looked at by Moses as a cult prostitute, his bed matches the same dimensions as Marduk. This should really concern the Jew and Christian, why? Germany moved the Ishtar gate to Berlin after the First World War. The Jews were of a peculiar interest at that time. A teacher within the cult of theosophy, Madam Blavatsky taught that the “root race” of the Aryan man were giants, hence “overman”. There is occultism surrounding the giants.

For those saying they had or are having a hard time understanding what Rabbi is saying, this is for you. 1) It's a parable. 2) The angels did not get the breath of life ( souls) because Adam & Eve were not the parents (that's the copy & paste). 3) For the christian reading this. The angels who were not from Adam & Eve. How were they born into sin?How were their "children" born into sin?An angel is a messenger. An angel cannot sin because HaShem is the sender of the messengers & HaShem cannot sin.

A writing from the second temple period of Judaism - 1 Enoch Chapter 6 [Chapter 6] 1 And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto 2 them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men 3 and beget us children.' And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto them: 'I fear ye will not 4 indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.' And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations 5 not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.' Then sware they all together and bound themselves 6 by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn 7 and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And these are the names of their leaders: Samlazaz, their leader, Araklba, Rameel, Kokablel, Tamlel, Ramlel, Danel, Ezeqeel, Baraqijal, 8 Asael, Armaros, Batarel, Ananel, Zaqiel, Samsapeel, Satarel, Turel, Jomjael, Sariel. These are their chiefs of tens. [Chapter 7] 1 And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives, and each chose for himself one, and they began to go in unto them and to defile themselves with them, and they taught them charms 2 and enchantments, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants. And they 3 became pregnant, and they bare great giants, whose height was three thousand ells: Who consumed 4 all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against 5 them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and 6 fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones. [Chapter 8] 1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all 2 colouring tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they 3were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjaza taught enchantments, and root-cuttings, 'Armaros the resolving of enchantments, Baraqijal (taught) astrology, Kokabel the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds, Araqiel the signs of the earth, Shamsiel the signs of the sun, and Sariel the course of the moon. And as men perished, they cried, and their cry went up to heaven . . .

Five of the six types of relations that are forbidden by God to Gentiles are covered in Genesis 2:24: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and cling to his wife and they shall become one flesh.” This verse explicitly forbids relations with one’s mother, one’s father’s wife, a wife of another man, another male, and an animal. A Gentile is also forbidden to have relations with his maternal sister, which is learned from Genesis 20:12: “Moreover, she is indeed my sister, my father’s daughter, though not my mother’s daughter; and she became my wife.”

Free will is granted to all people. If one desires to turn to the path of good and be righteous, the choice is his. Should he desire to turn to the path of iniquity, the choice is his. This is the intent of the Torah's statement: "Behold, man has become like the Unique One among us, knowing good and bad." This teaches that humankind was made singular in the world, in that a person can, on his own initiative, objectively think about and know what is good and what is bad, and then choose to act according to his own will.

No matter how you slice it, the story of the flood which follows the story of the raping of the daughters of ‘humans’, is the strangest in the entire Bible. Begs the question, ‘what other kinds of daughters were there?’ It seems to imply that these ‘men of renown’ were other than human. With regard to the flood story, why the convoluted process of wiping out humans? And why wipe out the innocent animals? Why not wipe out the bad guys using the same angel that wiped out the Assyrians at Jerusalem’s gate? Rabbis like Rabbi Singer aren’t giving us the straight goods on much in the Tanack?

So people actually believe in flying angels with feathered wings and that they have xy chromosomes and male genitalia and a desire to mate? How can any of that remotely sound like a story from history as opposed to a story from obvious mythology?

@@saul2491 Doesn't the Bible call angels sons of God two other times in the Bible? Why fallen only when it talks about those mighty men of old? How can we be sure nephilim is a word about humans? Why does it say sons of God came into daughters of men when talking about fallen beings? This is a confusing passage for me. Why did some Israelites in Numbers fear nephelim and said they have returned and that they are like grasshoppers to them?

It means giants...the hagiborim means mighty men of renown due to their size but also the feats they were known for. Check Genesis 11, tower of babel story, because there the group of humans after the flood build the tower to "make a name for themselves". Meaning they are wanting the same name of renown from the Nephillim in Genesis 6:4!!

Here is my issue. If nephelim are just humans, why does the Bible have to say there were nephilim in the earth in those days and also after that? We know mighty men existed, like Samson, but he was never called nephilim. Just saying that some evil men were powerful seems kinda off since the previous passages have already talked about humans reproducing and the sin of polygamy. Also the word nephelim as fallen is a little confusing because the Bible talks about the general wickedness of men right after the nephilim. And the ancient Greek translation Septuagint translats nephilim as giants. Any ideas?

Ultimately, this is all speculation. Here are three possible ones. The interested reader may form his or her own opinion: The three main views on the identity of the "Sons of God" are: (1) they were fallen angels, or (2) they were powerful human rulers, or (3) they were divine descendants of Seth who intermarried with evil descendants of Cain . What gives weight to the first view (1) is the fact that in the Old Testament the phrase "sons of God" is always referred to angels (Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7). A potential problem with (1) is the fact that Matthew 22:30 indicates that angels do not marry. The Bible gives us no reason to believe that angels have gender or are capable of reproducing. Views (2) and (3) do not have this problem. The comprehensibility that children born through the marriage of a simple male and a simple female become “giants” or “well-known heroes of that time” are the weaknesses of views (2) and (3). Why would God choose to bring the flood on the earth (Genesis 6:5-7) if God had never forbidden powerful males or the descendants of Seth from marrying ordinary women or descendants of Cain. The coming judgment of Genesis 6:5-7 is connected to the events of Genesis 6:1-4. Only the obscene, sick marriages of the fallen angels with human women seem to justify such harsh punishment.

@@menmustchangebeforekingdoms Good question. In the video Rabbi Singer says those were powerful men. I'm not convinced, partly for the reason you cite, and my study-Bible (Oxford) calls it "Divine-human reproduction". I think the scholarly consensus is that either those were divine beings, possibly angels, or the verses got edited in after their original intent was already lost. Maybe call into to the Rabbi's show and ask him.

Lower Gods also appear in Judaism. One wouldn't need to be called "The Most High God" if there weren't other gods. Thus, the title "Most High God" is a tacit admission to other gods. Similarly, God is jealous, which is also a tacit admission that there is indeed another God. For, if there were no other God, whom would he possibly be jealous of?

There are fairy tales that should stay that way or parables that captivate the imagination by way of similitude to learn lessons through fables ,but sometimes they do not stay as stories . They do not talk or communicate with mouth . The eyes they talk through but no sound . If one falls into our place they cry and gurgle , muttering frantic prayers it is like but not any language ,like golem in Lord of the rings muttering .They are not chubby little cherubs with violins and bow and arrows . They look more like female than male . They are neither . They would not have relations with woman and this is important because no covering of the head is required to discourage them . Eh not so sure on this one Rabbi. I agree on the Derash, but this doesn't explain the Peshat. Pirkei DeRabbi Eliezer refutes much of this, and I don't see how you can justify Shamhazai and Azazel being the parents of Sihon and Og? I'm not denying your analysis, I just think this doesn't explain Niddah 61a, nor the descendants of the Rephaim who survived the flood, such as Og. If your peshat is that "These are literal lines meant to imply powerful, mighty rulers of the world" then it begins contradicting much of the analysis of the giants in talmudic literature as interbred
