Some people can not be pleased. Some years ago i had an online golf shop, selling clothes shoes balls tee's etc... Went well but ill never forget this one guy i dealt with that was a nightmare. When people used to spend a fair amount id always throw in some goodies. Anyway this one guy brand new customer forst order spent nearly 400 quid. So i threw him 2 packs of 3 golf balls and a massive bag of tees for FREE. he left me a google review 1 star. It was along the lines of all the clothes and the shoes i bought where fine, but the bag of tees and 6 golf balls were not what he uses and he said they will get wasted on him so he left me a 1 staf review. I responded to the review saying the tees and balls where free and would you consider changing the 1 star. Even sent him an email. Got nothing back. Just one of them people.

Joe, your honesty is to be applauded. You replaced the oil pressure switch, gave a full refund 100% customer service from BM. 77k is low mileage for a 61 plate BMW. Car is presented impeccably as they all are and will not hang around.

I know these N43s guides deteriorate and block the pick up and usually the oil pressure light comes on once ragged then sat at the traffic lights for a few minutes, as for the timing chain its not a engine out but gearbox out and I know some places charge around £1000-1300 for good oem updated parts and labour.

Maybe the handbrake warning light was illuminating due to a dodgy wire or some pilot error and she mistook it for a oil light .I don't know but they are both red when illuminated. And when travelling at speed your eyes are more focused on the road. Either way you have a beautiful looking BMW to sell .

Could be worn big end bearings, had that on a crv once and the oil pressure light would only ever come on when the car was hot on a motorway run and particularly if the weather was warmer. Might be worth sipping the sump off first if the fault returns, could save spending money on the chain if not needed. Good luck mate

Unfortunately there are a fair few timewasters around, as in the case here. You went above and beyond in taking the car back to check it over, sounds like she didn't really want it in the end! For a 2011 car it looks fantastic and so clean! Liking the white ST on your forecourt btw!

Iv had few BMW e90’s, when i say most come with these issues of warning light coming and going. Most of the time it can be the rocker cover gasket and coil packs.

If the thumbnail is correct, the amber oil light is just the oil quality sensor in the sump...

if there was a issue with the timing chain you would get a limp mode and even if you turned off and restarted it should do limp not long after driving it

oil filter cap pull off warm engine.... IFF there is iron bits in it? little flakes? then it wil one day grenades itself. also pull the oil filler cap off to look IFF there mabe is some broken bits off the timing chain.. iff so yes? then most likley the pieses is in the oil sump and oil pipe line in the sump.. i think this time little tiny zilver flakes in the oil filter housing.

The timing chain guides break and full into sump and block oil pick up pipe, i have just bought one needing an engine

Try to manually check the oil pressure, sender out and a gauge screwed in, tbh I'd drop the sump and check the pick up, timing chain isn't going to put the oil pressure light on, probably coming on the motorway as the oils getting thinner, tbh on bangers I've put say 20,50 oil in and 3 stp oil treatments to bulk up the pressure (back in the day) but you can't risk that on a car like that with vanos, basically it's an oil pressure problem, pump, bearings, pick up, don't forget oil pressure lights come on when the pressure drops to about say 10 psi, so that's very low.

That's was what I was thinking. You'd prob also get a whining noise on start up as the oil pump would be working overtime if strainer and pick up blocked. Blocked PCV valve? Not sure if typical of these engines though...hg/ chain/ vanos for sure

@@allanprits3484 yes mate, tbh if customer says low oil pressure that's what it'll be, it's a very basic fault, whatevers caused it, it's not good news, probably looking at another engine, can you imagine no oil pressure on the motorway, it's knackered tbh.

We had a 64 plate yeti (175k) wbac said 2100,ended up being 1750,got an audi A1, 62 plate in 107k,called Aston barclay with a view to putting it in, they quoted 2200,you go to the auction and they're making 4k, jobs a nightmare.

I notice you've sold this already! Would love to know in say a couple of months, whether the new owner returns it with the same fault - just as a matter of interest. These faults can be, as you said, irritatingly 'sporadic', or 'intermittent' as many of your viewers have commented! (Both are actually correct in my opinion.)😀

Hi, I recently bought the same model as this & guess what, the oil pressure light comes on now & again. I have had the new sensor put in & thought it was cured but no, it came on again after a couple of days. I took it on the motorway & gave it some stick for 20 miles & nothing, no light. The next day I drove 40 miles & it came on when i was stuck in traffic at the end of my trip. Came back to the car after an hour, drove home & no light! There is an oil pressure valve just behind the alternator into the bottom of the engine & that can get gummed up & needs to be cleaned or renewed.so that will be my next course of action.

if you have drove it at the speeds the customer said it comes on surely wouldve done it and in that time frame. i do think you been duped really the problem wouldve shown up by now. good luck with the re-sale and someone gonna get a nice car.

I have a 2010 btw e90 diseal it has a quarter of a million miles and it does have some wear and tear and the paint isn’t the best but it did have some faults and right now had its service and new breaks I would like to do a lot to it but is it worth it it’s my first bmw ever and I do want the new I drive system and Cruise control it says it has angel eyes and coming home lights but it Donst work

Are there no codes stored on the ecu? If no codes on ecu I’d say that the buyer lost confidence and didn’t want to admit that was the problem.

Yes, words are just hot air. In the same way you can't tell if someone you interact with is a psycopath, mass murderer etc. you also can't tell if somone is lying (barring them saying something very obviously wrong). Equally, you can't exhaustively fact-check everythig you are told to make sure it's true. This is why experience and judgement must be applied. It could be called intuition or gut instinct. We all end up chalking a lot down to experience and you hopefully become older and wiser. Fraudsters are lying to you from the get-go. As Cat Stevens sang in "Wild World": But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware! Beware

Yes it does matter. The customer mislead him and as a result he held the car back from re-sale for six months. So her fairy story resulted in £6k sitting unused, when, if the customer had just returned it without the story, he could have quickly re-sold it and used the proceeds to buy and sell new stock. So she cost him time, money and profit.
