I work with GE X-Ray Vaults. There is uranium in the X-Ray tubes but it is depleted uranium so there is no way to create a bomb out of a X-Ray tube. The only way you could hurt someone with one is if you powered the tube up with someone directly under it and even then effects would only show up years later.

Don't worry rob, there's really nothing in an X-ray machine that a bad guy could use for nefarious purposes. I believe the radiation stickers are mostly there for the X-rays emitted, not because there's a sizeable amount of fission material in the machine.

I doubt this will get seen, but you can rest fairly easy. There's nothing particularly dangerous in an Xray machine, unless you sit in it all day taking pictures of your bones. It's not like they're full of uranium or anything. Most likely reason for removing the stickers was to lie about it and import it on the cheap. At worst, it might be used by some medical personnel supporting someone questionable. But you can't particularly turn anything inside an X-ray machine into a weapon. The X-rays themselves are produced by a bulb unit that isn't dangerous when not energised, that big cooling unit is to cool the electronics that transform wall AC into the power needed to energise that bulb and pump out X-rays.
@Automatic-Diaphragm6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they didn't want the stickers because of radioactive gear transport regulation. One other use for X-rays is material testing, but I doubt a medical x-ray can be used for that anyway. Most likely, he resold it to a private hospital in Dubai, there are many aimed at international clients.
@cjeam91996 жыл бұрын
It’s not radioactive, it just emits radiation. The stickers only make sense when it’s switched on, so you can safely take them off and avoid any tough questions when transporting it.
@pastorofmuppets3255 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there's not any actual fissle material in an x-ray machine. That's not how they work. The importer just wanted to avoid customs headaches with importing it so he asked that the stickers be removed.
