I don't think I've ever looked at a person and thought "That person is my hero." At least not until I found your channel. Your approach to life, to food, to discovery, your humility about it all, and the fact that you bring a genuine attitude of easy positivity to all these adventures and misadventures has me thinking about your videos a lot. I'm a second-hand girl, a bit of a grub, and the kind of person who absolutely would (and does) eat random stuff I find on the side of the road or in dumpsters. Thanks for bringing that same happy-go-lucky, low-maintenance, curious attitude to its logical end point and reminding me that there are other weirds out there. You're my hero Beau!

Knowing my grandparents had to forage for food, eating who knows what for years due to famine really gives you some perspective of how much more effective this system is than we give it credit for. I don't decline that food safety is important, but jeez, a discarded fresh apple core is going to do little to your health at worst, given you aren't immunocompromised.

Like how you summed up the reason for doing things that are uncomfortable as a balance to a comfortable life. It was a topic I have often touched on when people ask me about my running escapades (ultra runners can seem an odd lot to those who don’t run, or don’t run as far). And noting that roughing it was temporary, and I would add chosen, makes a difference on the stressors that are experienced; you know you have an “out”.
