What about the US mint steel sets were they reconditioned steel cents?
@jeemalsoknownasjimhawkins12942 жыл бұрын
Daniel: I remember growing up in the 1960's and you would literally see steel cents every day in change. No one wanted them because they would start rusting. Thanks for a walk down Memory Lane! Cheers.

I always find it funny when people think no mint mark on pennies is something valuable because 99% of the time it's just not. I'd say the only "guarantee" an absent mint mark would be worth something is if you've found a 2017 like that. As far as I know, Philadelphia hasn't done a mint mark on pennies outside of that year, but I could be wrong.

I have 110 1943 Lincoln pennies, most with a good zinc plating. Unfortunately, they are all magnetic However , two have a very weakly punched 4 in the date and one has no 4 whatsoever. There is no trace of scratching that might indicate that someone scraped the 4 off. Do I have something of value, once graded??

Philadelphia added a P to the Lincoln cent in 2017 but that's the only one I know of with a P. Only the infamous 1922 with no mint mark is truly valuable. The 1943 steel cents have evaded me in my penny searches along with that pesky '43 copper.
@timmatherly50802 жыл бұрын
A teller at a bank I used to dump at once gave me about 30 steel cents. It seems that their coin counting machine had a magnet in it to catch foreign coins. '43 cents got caught too. The best chance of finding steel cents will be searching customer wrapped rolls.

I have two 1843 pennies with errors (ghost-4), and another with the error with the letter "L" touching the rim of the coin. Unfortunately, those coins haven't made me rich yet.

I made the comment, not long ago, that I found one of the plated ones, in the middle of a roll. The first thing I did was look it up, & found out what they were. I didn't get excited, because I don't expect to find anything valuable.

Thanks for sharing Dan. If you look on Flea Bay you'll see dozens of "mint error" no mint mark coins. I wish people would learn about coins and errors before trying to sell things. Take care.

Lol. I noticed that too. I’ve seen common 40’s & 50’s wheat cents selling for $100.00’s if not $1000.00’s because there is no mint mark. If you look, most of these eBay sellers don’t have any feedback what so ever.
