It's one of those things IDK if it even warrants a video. Tywin absolutely colluded with the Freys to get rid of a mutual enemy. At that point I think Walder Frey simply realized the North's cause was likely not worth crossing Tywin over, and then on top of that Walder Frey took it personally that Robb Stark felt like he could marry someone else instead completely breaking the vow that was made, pissing off the one ally he could not afford to lose under any circumstances. Robb Stark, brilliant tactician and field general but a moron when it came to the most simple diplomacy. But Jaime himself had no idea what they were up to, when he says "Send Robb Stark my regards" it was mainly because Roose was still supposedly under Robb Stark's command and he had essentially just been freed by a Northman on his way to the Red Wedding where he knew Robb Stark would be, even if it wasn't his wedding anymore. He had no idea Robb and his entire army/family would be murdered like that.

@@reddishf0x237 The second Ned's head came off Winterfell belonged to Robb, he was 16 so old enough if he was 5 then the story would be different. What Walder wants is a grandchild heir to either Winterfell (and at that point the Kingdom of the North) or settle for an heir to Riverrun. Cat and her children are further behind the line of heirs to Riverrun, first it goes to Edmure (which is why walder wants him) and if Edmure died without a child then it would pass to Black Fish, if they then accepted a female heir like the Targs did in the past then Cat would pass being heir to Riverrun to her son Robb. Sorry not trying to come off wrong, its just the rules of succession that they follow. That and Walder is Married at that point so he couldn't easily remarry without a bunch of trouble to get an annulment.

One meeting that I am looking forward to is that of Arya and Jamie. Arya is supposed to be smart. She should have been able to piece together quite a few important parts of Jamie's story - from her first encounter with Brienne who carries Lannister gold and was honest about it, and events at the Frey's that she witnessed - facial expressions (she is basically a mind reader) and actions (Jamie didn't drink the toast - in fact he didn't drink at all in the scene). Perhaps this influenced the way she carried out her massacre? If any of the Freys had been unwilling to toast the red wedding massacre, they would not have been poisoned. Also with Little Finger's dagger that she now knows was not sent by the Lannisters. I guess Arya and Jamie meeting is a very minor detail, but one that involves two of the main characters, and could potentially have some serious future repercussions. It will be interesting to see if/how the show deals with this - one would hope intelligently, logically and to character...

I agree with the whole Jaime thing that has not to do with Red Wedding ..Jaime didnt had part on that ..but he was suspecting that Roose was up to something and this something had to do with his daddy and Robb Stark .Cercei also was aware of it.She in some previous episodes before the RW was talking symbolically with Margaery about the Reynes and the Tarbecks [the families that got red weddinged by Tywin before the curent events of GOT]and how they died [men,women,children ..everyone put on the sword]and she mentioned how powerful they were[Lady Rayne had more jewels than my mother]...Cercei also in S3 was more closer to Tywin than anyone ..she liked to sit close to him on the Small Council meetings and to have also personal meetings with him ..she knew something about whats is going to happen...Only Tyrion didnt knew anything about Tywins Red Wedding plans ..and he was surprised /shocked when he founded next morning in the Small Council meeting that the Starks they were murdered in a wedding...he was angry about that..and about Geoffreys insults to the murdered Starks after.Tywin was a villain ..but a very intelligent one [thats why i like to watch his scenes in GOT..now who i make my rewatch before S8 airs a month+ a week from now].

I would go as far as to say that virtually everything Jaimie has ever done (minus his relationship with Cersei and pushing Bran) has been honorable. Even though his relationship with Cersei was unhealthy and immoral, he was faithful to her. He was never with anyone else. He saved all the Innocents in KL at great sacrifice to himself, I even think he respected Ned and The Blackfish and just wanted them to respect him too. I agree that he only threatened Edmure with killing his son in order to keep the loss of life to a minimum. Really everything he's ever done has minimized loss of life. Even pushing Bran. By doing that he saved four lives, three of whom were children. Challenging Robb to single combat to save lives, just like Jon did with Ramsey. Jaime also has a lot of parallels to Jon, which I find interesting.

Randyll holds the red wedding against him. so its the classic theme of guilt by association (similar to Sandor in Beric's cave "is being born Clegane a crime!?!") ... cause sandor wasnt burning the riverlands. and Jaime didnt plan, encourage, or help carry out the Red wedding i wish i had remembered to end the video with that concept :-/ ah well

And that I was presenting it because even tho I didn't expect it at the time, I thought there was a chance Low and behold, a couple months later, now I actually expect it :)) It's funny when I get called out on making click bait stuff that in truth, is a very solid prediction. Like arya mercy killing sandor. I'd be truly shocked if it doesn't happen. But I constantly read attacks on videos like that where they accuse me of clickbait lolol

I think it was more of a "I was set free by your own mum and now happily on my way back to go fuck my own sister" kind of thing. Still rubbing it in though. I think GRRM wrote the "Jaime Lannister sends his regards" thing specifically so Catelyn would feel the mistake and betrayal of Jaime after having set him free just before she died. So that it at least looked to HER, Jaime was part of it. Making him the ultimate target for Stoneheart's wrath, however misguided.
@gcs7817
@gcs7817 5 жыл бұрын
Of course Jaime knew Bolton and Frey would betray Robb Stark. How is not the question, but Jaime knew betrayal was coming. “You’ll give my regards to Robb Stark, won’t you?” and Jaime doesn’t mean that Bolton will give Robb a warm hand shake and a bro hug. Tywin plotting with Frey and Bolton has to be communicated to them somehow. Not by ravens, mind you. Those can get intercepted. No, Jaime was involved and an important messenger. Luckily for him, no one survived the Red Wedding on the Stark side to relay what Roose said to Robb as he stabbed him. Now in the books Roose stabs Robb through the heart from the back and says “Jaime Lannister send his regards.” Then he twists the sword. Bran can see what happened at the Red Wedding, but he won’t. The question is what will Bran do when he sees Jaime when he arrives at Winterfell.
@gcs7817

Tha_ Jet_King At this point Bran doesn’t give a crap about the fact that Jaime pushed him out the window. Late to comment here, but I think there are probably two reasons why they changed the phrasing of Roose giving regards. 1. To make it clear in the moment that Tywin was involved in the scheme. 2. Not as important to keep the same as it is in the books. Catelyn heard "Jaime" specifically in the line, and where's Jaime headed currently?

I dont think Tywin would have stood for the Mad King bedding his wife. He wanted to strangle Aerys even when he just made lewd comments about his wife. Tywin would have rebelled if he knew that had taken place. Maybe Tywin didnt know....? No, Aerys had a mouth on him and word would have gotten out. There were also several slights that led to Tywin renouncing his position as hand of the king, the last being Aerys making Jaime a member of the Kingsguard and robbing him of his heir. Aerys sleeping with his wife, the only person he truly loved, would have pushed him over the edge. Remember, Tywin wiped 2 families off the face of the earth because they were being dicks. At the Defiance of Duskendale later on, he wiped out another couple of families, with the King's orders, though. He doesn't seem like the type to turn the other cheek. He could have let Aerys rot in the Duskendale prison or stormed the keep and caused them to kill the king as a hostage. He didn't though. Aerys also went mad after Duskendale so Tywin didn't fear being cooked by wildfire at this time either. He even resigned his post despite possibly causing the Mad King's wrath. I believe Tywin would have acted completely different towards Aerys is he knew he slept with his wife.

It's basically a "adios bitches" moment for jaime. I agree with everything you said, jaime is a confident witty dude....and despite being covered in shit and malnourished he does not back down or tone his personality down in fear, it's why he took on brienne while chained, weakened and malnourished and made jokes even after the northerners took his hand. He knew how valuable of a hostage he was and how hard Robb had tried to recapture him, so as a slight revenge of words it was like a taunt to Robb that his own Bannerman was letting him go. Hence, he sends his regards.

This is great. There are few things I enjoy more than analysis. Despite Jaime’s somewhat skewed sense of morality at times, I was always under the impression he didn’t know about the Red Wedding, either. He’s more of a fight-you-face-to-face kind of man, which is honorable in its way. He may embellish and jape and provoke his enemies with words, but he’s not a conniving intellectual schemer like Tywin, Cersei, or Tyrion. I think that’s a major distinction shown in both the books and show.

I have a crazy (or not so crazy) theory about Jaime. By all accounts, Jaime is the most decent leader and commander left in Westeros. Everything he has ever done, has been for others than himself. He is a great strategist and a cunning warrior, and he does everything while trying to spare as many lives as possible. So my theory is, that we might see Jaime sit on the Iron Throne! Now, whether it would be at the end of it all, that's a whole other story, but in the original outline for ASOIAF, Jaime killed everyone who came in his way, and took the throne. I can easily see this happen in the actual story. Jaime is not, and will never be interested in power, but if it is to protect others, I don't think he would hesitate. He knows how fucked King's Landing and its citizens will be under Cercei & Euron's reign, so for the good of the people, Jaime kills both Euron and Cercei in the great hall, for then to place himself on the Iron Throne. Imagine then, if Jon walks in to see Jaime sitting there, on the Iron Throne, just as Ned did back at Robert's Rebellion.... epic! I know it's super far fetched, but GRRM always plays with our expectations, so I don't think it's very far off ;)

I have the read the books multiple times and have seen the show. It was always my understanding that Jaime orchestrated the Red Wedding. Specifically when he tells Roose Bolton that the Lannister pay best. More importantly, there is the look and reaction from Brianne. Who was too naive to understand what was going on. Jaime is a person that attempts to be honorable, but always commits something dishonorable in the belief that it would save lives. For example kills the Mad King, under the belief that his burning of kings landing would kill more lives. Orchestrates the Red Wedding, under the belief that it would end the war. And then always regrets it. Fulfilling his role as a character that is neither black or white.

Your analysis of Jaimie is about as spot on as one can be. Whether in the books or the show, I see a long, slow arc of the Kingslayer becoming the knight he was supposed to have been years ago. His past crimes are numerous, and speak of a spoiled, jaded youth, easily manipulated and puppetted by his sister, his father, his previous (Mad) king, and the succession of warring interests and poorly followed mentors. He has learned some harsh and horrible lessons, leading up to the reluctant opening of his eyes to the world around him that his own weaknesses have helped to create. Oathbreaker, Kingslayer, Cuckolder, Incestuous... What WILL his page (singular...) say in the Knightsguard Book of Deeds?

I believe Jaime and Cersei are Tywin's bastards its very poetic if Tyrion turns out to be Tywin Lannister's only trueborn sonon top of that, Cersei basically becomes a Mad King with her wildfire obsessions. there's a cheeky line in the books with Aunt Gemma (Tywin's sister) telling Jaime that "Tyrion is Tywin's son, not you" (shes referring to Tyrion being more like him. but it might have been a sneaky clue by GRRM since he does that kind of stuff) there's also a dream sequence where Jaime speaks to his dead mother while Jaime stood vigil for Tywin. and her wording was very suspect. she said something about how Jaime never knew his father or something. i forget the details but yeah. thats the idea. its not proven either way. but some people think all three kids are Tywins. some think Tyrion is the Mad King's bastard. And some (such as myself) think Jaime and Cersei are Mad King Aerys's bastards

In the book, he wasn't out to kill Ned Stark when he confronted him in King's Landing. He just wanted to kill Ned's companions as a show of force/as retaliation for Tyrion's capture, which isn't exactly honourable. He actually left before the fighting started, but it seems he had given his men orders not to kill Ned, as Ned is the only survivor of the Stark party. Ned breaking his leg was an accident in the book; a horse fell on him. No one stabbed him. It actually messed up Tywin Lannister's plans a bit, as Tywin had sent the Mountain raiding the Riverlands in the hope that Ned himself would lead the small army sent to bring Gregor Clegane to justice, with the goal of ambushing and capturing him to exchange him for Tyrion. Instead, because Ned's leg was broken, Beric Dondarrion was appointed to lead the army. The ambush still happened. TL;DR: Jaime didn't spare Ned for honour's sake, and as a matter of fact the entire attack was pretty dishonourable to begin with

Choking the Karstarks to death with chains was probably not very honorable. I think Jaime tries to be honorable, but he's not perfect, so sometimes he isn't, but he's changing. I think down the line the roles will switch; Brienne will either pay for being too honorable or learn that sometimes you have to be dishonorable, while Jaime will do something great or die to be honorable. If Sansa has to order Jaime to be executed, Brienne would likely do it herself, with Oathkeeper.

I don't think that Jamie knew about the Red Wedding. In fact, I can't really go so far to state that Jamie knew Roose Bolton was turning against Robb Stark for certain... only that he was trying to cash in on releasing Jamie after basically destroying much of the threat he ever presented against himself and the Starks. That, to me, seemed to be the overwhelming sense as to that whole episode in Harrenhall. The line "Give my regards to Robb Stark." Was just a verbal jab at the end, reminding Bolton of his place with the veiled threat of his eventual return to the fight in one manner or another. On top of this, I'm not so certain that Roose had made the decision to betray Robb at that point yet. Keep in mind that the events which made the Red Wedding possible had mostly transpired after (and partially due to) Jamie being released by Catlyn. Sure, Walder Frey wanted revenge for Robb betraying the wedding pact. However, what could he have done as long as the Boltons and Karstarks were still backing the Starks and Tullys? It was the execution of Rickard Karstark than turned that house away, and caused them to turn their allegiance to Bolton. I would even go so far as to suggest that Roose may not have even truly considered the option of conspiring with Tywin until after he'd met with Jamie at Harrenhall.

Roose planned to betray Robb as soon as he was given the footmen to go south along the kingsroad when he separated ways with Robb charging with the horses to Riverrun. All his moves after that proved that he was trying to inflict losses on Robb's banermen while keeping his own relatively safe, preparing to jump on any possibility. If the Westerling thing didn't happen, Roose would have found another way. He may not have had all the details planned for his betrayal, but it was a wish from the start.

@@Tyranastrasza Oh, I have no doubt that Roose Bolton had intentions of taking any true opportunity he could use to usurp the Starks. In fact, I am certain that was one of the reasons why Ned brought Roose into his own confidence. Catlyn even warned Robb not to trust Roose Bolton too far, citing Ned's thoughts on him. However, I am not convinced he had any plans in motion until a brief time prior to the Red Wedding. He seemed quite content with resting on his laurels at Harrenhall and allowing his men to pillage the region, while Robb continually weakened his own forces, and waiting for an opportunity to arise. Four events transpired to create such an opportunity. First you have the Ironborn raiding various spots of the north, thus showing that Robb could not protect his territory and people. Second, Winterfell itself was taken by Theon who then spread about word that he executed Bran and Rickon (thus leaving only Sansa - who was essentially being held hostage by the Lannisters, then later married off to Ramsay -, the missing Arya -which he would handle by means of a pretender in the books-, and Robb himself to deal with. Third, the execution of Rickard Karstark, and Robb losing the Karstark's support. And finally, the capture of Jamie and idea of a reward bestowed to him by Tywin Lannister. Jamie was held at Harrenhall for several days, perhaps weeks. That is plenty of time to negotiate via trusted messenger, or even via raven. So, may Roose did have an idea that he was going to betray Robb when Jamie spoke that line to him... but the plan couldn't have been more than a couple of days old. I still don't think that Jamie knew anything about it at all.
