She was my finance professor in college - by far the best professor I had, always staying late (class ended at 9:10 PM) to provide her students extra help. Not saying this exonerates her but the accusations leveled against her do not match the person I knew. One of the nicest professors out there who always went above and beyond.

Karen Read’s 100% innocent! It’s an atrocity what’s going on in Massachusetts. It’s unfortunate Dr. Grande got a lot of the facts of the case wrong. But of course most creators with large platforms don’t want to belabor themselves with the details when they can just get a quick click on a hot story, it just feels like a greater insult when this woman’s life is on the line and what’s happening is a straight up lynching of Karen Read. Anyone who reads through the court documents & looks at the evidence knows she’s innocent. Not not guilty. Innocent. Hence why the FBI has been investigating and served several of the believed perpetrators with subpoenas. Thanks for your write up about Karen! Would you mind sharing what she taught / what classes of hers you took?

Unfortunately often the way it goes - someone can be wonderful generally but in their intimate relationships, be a nightmare. Most people never see that side to a person. The fact that John was trying to break up with her is really indicative in this case. That doesn’t mean that Karen intentionally killed John or that the state can prove it.

@@eveapple4928 Yeah, it's hard to really know a person unless you've lived with them or traveled with them. If you've never seen how someone handles conflict or not getting what they want, you don't know them. You have no idea how they will act when something comes up between the two of you. That is a good question. The answer is vital to the case. As it turned out John died from the cold. His head injury would have killed him too if not for the cold. What do you think?

Yes! The Feds proved Jen McCabe searched "Hos long to die in cold" at 2:27am. Why would an innocent person do that? The day Karen Read was charged with the crime, Jen McCabe texted Trooper Michael Proctor stating she would get him a "Thank You gift." The Feds hired an independent accident reconstruction expert. They proved that the damage to the vehicle was NOT caused by hitting a person & that John O'Keefe's injuries were NOT caused by a vehicle. Police dog trainers stated 100% John's arm had dog bites on it. Prosecutor Lally gathered all their witnesses together for a meeting _before_ their grand jury testimony to get their stories straight. A search of the crime scene in the morning turned up zero tail light pieces. 12 hours later, after Trooper Proctor had Read's vehicle in his possession for an unaccounted for *HOUR,* tail light pieces were discovered at the crime scene. The actual killer, Colin Albert, and the Albert/McCabe families, go way back with Trooper Michael Proctor, who admitted to the Federal Grand Jury that he "minimized" his relationship w/them to the State Grand Jury. He's now personally under investigation. There is NO evidence that a vehicle collision occured at 43 Fairview Road or that a vehicle ever hit John O'Keefe. His death certificate doesn't list homicide as his manner of death. His cause of death is listed as "blunt force trauma and hypothermia." That doesn't even include all the bias & improper behavior by judge "Auntie Bev!" There may never have been a more blatantly obvious case of law enforcement corruption than this one.

Too many things don't add up. 1. Everyone says John and Karen were getting along great that night 2. The Judge was actually a defense attorney for Albert family but refused to recuse herself 3. Evidence was collected in solo cups borrowed from a neighbour. Contaminated everything, and has no seal while they were kept near Karen's car. Could have easily transferred blood with how sloppy the investigation was 4. Tail light wasn't found until days later? 5. Alberts got rid of their perfectly good 5 year old family dog (German Shephard) shortly after the murder 6. Investigators knew the Alberts and never even tried to enter where John supposedly last was before being found dead on the front lawn. The detectives said there were no exigent circumstances (John was found dead in front of the house he was supposed to have spent the night drinking in) they didn't ask a judge for a warrant, or even bother to ask the Alberts for consent to search the house 7. The search for "how long does it take to die in the cold" search made at 2am 8. No one at the Albert house that night heard any screaming and didn't see John's body when arriving or leaving the house? 9. Karen was intoxicated, how was she able to reverse in the snow fast enough to hit John and kill him? And know he would die? Too much reasonable doubt to say Karen is guilty because she asked "did i hit him?" in some kind of 'my cousin vinny' type confession

Jen McCabe was asked a dozen times under oath at the grand jury about exactly WHAT Karen said. Jen NEVER once said that Karen said "I hit him" or "I hit him., I hit him., I hit him" (as she now claims). That new narrative of Jen evolved later on. Jen was sworn to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth and apparently she did just that AT THE GRAND JURY - but later has not told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

This case SCREAMS of Police not carrying out a proper investigation. Tail lights can be cracked and then fall out hundreds of miles from the 'collision incident'. I could add case files but the defence most likely have done this. The head trauma? You suggest his head was down???? That is a incredible theory to prove guilt. Oh he must have held his head down. Two black eyes. Head beat frontal, sides and rear? That's not a car hitting him. I suggest this man suffered severe reaction due to attack. Was it her? With a baseball bat? Was it someone else with a bat? The injures on his arm? That is defensive wounds but the weapon? Police made this fit? It doesn't fit. It's like trying to put a kid glove on a porcupine.

Unless she had other people beat him up badly and be with her in the car with him and they bodily threw him into the snow, and they all drove off together, hoping he would be discovered by other party goers on the lawn. More concerning - Jennifer's internet search for how long to die in the cold and the movement info on his phone - if his phone was on him while he was moved outside to the snow - that would register as movement/steps taking place at the time of his death.

Nothing good ever comes from drinking alcohol all night

that's just blatantly false, as i've had some of the best times of my life while drinking alcohol. i will say that it is a double edged sword, mainly because of laws made against alcohol. people become violent on alcohol, but those people are usually violent regardless. the vast majority of people who drink, drink and have fun. The other negative of alcohol, however, is that it can land you in the hospital. So, you are highly likely to either have fun, go to jail, or go to the hospital, not necessarily in that order. I quit drinking 8 years ago. Best decision i ever made, but it doesn't mean i never had a good time, and it doesn't take away some of the life experiences i enjoyed while drinking, some of the people i met, some of the love i shared.

"i must have hit him". What about the dog scratches all over his arms? How did no one arriving or leaving see this happen or not see John's body in the yard until Karen found him? Why did the police never get a search warrant for the house the murder victim was supposed to be in? Unless all the evidence on Karen's side is thrown out as inadmissible, I don't see her being convicted. The main witness against her is the sister-in-law of the police officer who lived in the house that John "never entered". And the jury pool is in an area where people are sick and tired of police officers who never seem to be able to interview witnesses and solve cases where cops are involved. If Karen was framed, she wouldn't be the first one that happened to. The initial "could I have hit him?" didn't turn into "I hit him. I hit him" until much later. Almost like she was coached by her sister and brother-in-law cop who lived in the house that John's phone entered without him. I can't wait to hear them explain the Google searches that were done from the inside of that house... This seems to be one of those cases where the investigation and witnesses is more suspicious than the suspect...

Let me share updated information. The Feds proved Jen McCabe searched "Hos long to die in cold" at 2:27am. Why would an innocent person do that? And why would an innocent person delete their search history right before giving their device to cops??? The day Karen Read was charged with the crime, Jen McCabe texted Trooper Michael Proctor, stating she would get him a thank you gift. The Feds hired an independent accident reconstruction expert who concluded John O'Keefe's injuries were NOT caused by a vehicle. Police dog trainers stated 100% John's arm had dog bites on it. The DOJ revealed that Prosecutor Lally gathered all the witnesses together for a meeting before their grand jury testimony to get their stories straight. There is NO evidence that a vehicle ever hit John O'Keefe. His death certificate doesn't list homicide as his manner of death. His cause of death is listed as "blunt force trauma and hypothermia." The Alberts refer to the judge, who is blatantly & consistently biased, as "Auntie Bev!" Can you imagine if Karen Read had googled "hos long to die in cold"? Also, there was a witness who arrived at 34 Fairview at the same time Karen & John did... Ryan Nagel. He was there to pick up his sister, Julie Nagel who was in the home that night. Julie Nagel came out to the car where her brother had pulled up behind Karen... closer to the driveway & apparently came out of the home to tell him she no longer needed a ride & she planned to stay overnight. Ryan Negel told police as he left, he saw Karen's SUV was parked, the light inside her car was on & her hands were at 10 & 2. He said he didn't see anyone else in the vehicle. 🤷‍♀️

My take on the Karen Read case after day 4 of the trial. I was put off by Karen's behavior even before the trial. She did public interviews proclaiming her innocence. In my opinion she has manipulated a large group of protesters based on what she says is the truth. I expected to see at trial that her defense was going to prove that all the witnesses for the prosecution were liars and part of this whole set up. Instead what her lawyers did was bully, badger and try and trick them into changing their stories. When the witnesses were asked certain questions and her lawyers didn't get the right answers they kept harping at them until they got them to admit that a few minor details had changed. The judge should have stopped that bullying after the question was asked and answered the first time round. Karen has been treating this trial like she is some kind of a celebrity super star. She is waving and smiling at her fans as she enters the court house. Her behavior is repulsive. The first day Karen appeared to be cocky and confident. She appeared to be running the whole show including her lawyers. I noticed her body language change once the witnesses began to testify one after the other stating she said she hit him. In my opinion to even suggest that fire fighers, LE and medics were all part of this conspiracy to frame her is a joke. In my opinion so far I believe this is what happened. I believe the relationship between Karen and John was falling apart and she knew it. She saw him kissing another woman and became angry. They were fighting about the kids all the time. It appeared the relationship was nearing its end. They were obviously on bad terms the day of the murder. I do not know why Karen did not attend that house party but it was clear she was very upset when she dropped John off. Karen was asked how many drinks she had before she dropped John off and she clearly lied and said 4 when it was proven she had at least 9 drinks. She was clearly very very drunk. It was clear to me she sped off from that house drunk and angry. I believe she backed into John and simply sped off. I also believe she knew she had hit him and that is why the search was done on how long it takes for a person to die in the cold. I believe she went home as she said and passed out drunk waking up at the early hours that morning. I believe she realized when he wasn't home that she may have hit him. She called friends pretending not to know what had happened but she does mention she had a cracked head light. The idea or suggestion that officers went to another location to retrieve pieces of her broken tail light to frame her was beyond a joke. I believe she called friends to make sure she had witnesses. I believe that horrific behavior at the scene was all planned and acted out. Karen never once says or even suggests that John had been killed by people in that house. This story came later and grew as time went on. I do believe Karen killed John in a drunk furious rage as she was leaving that house. I also believe she knew what she had done and still went home passed out and woke up a few hours later pretending not to know where John was.

@@melnimtzThe autopsy photos show that o Keefe suffered a bad fracture to the back of his head. A head fracture like that would cause lack of coordination, nose bleeds, nausea or vomiting, sometimes repeated vomiting and black eyes or swollen eyelids (racoon eyes), all of the symptoms and injuries John O Keefe displayed. Karen's lawyer in court claimed John O Keefe was beaten "looked like he went five rounds with Tyson" On ABC Boston her lawyer changed the story by saying he thinks O Keefe was taken to the basement and a confrontation happened that got physical "he was beaten, he was beaten to a point of unconsciousness" On dateline NBC her lawyer changed the story again when he says o Keefe walked into the house and straight away was "sucker punched, fell and hurt himself" The lawyer Jackson has to keep changing the defense narrative to fit the evidence, because no medical expert could say that O Keefe's facial injuries came from a beating.

I think this one is going to come down to expert testimony about the wounds, time of death, etc. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the dog that the homeowner’s were alleged to have had for years and then removed from their home shortly after the death. I recall the defense attorney said that some of the wounds are misidentified bite marks from a dog. Maybe you did and I was spaced out for a second or something. Lastly, it felt kind of loaded to me the way you kept calling the idea a conspiracy theory. It also would have been factually accurate to call it an “alleged coverup”. I find some of the claims put out by the defense compelling but we’ll have to see if they’re strongly supported by evidence or easily refuted at trial.

No, you weren’t spaced out or something; he didn’t mention it. There are autopsy photos of the lacerations on John’s arm available, so he should have shown them. My ex-husband is a longtime animal control officer, as well as a reserve police officer, and his immediate response to the autopsy photos was that those injuries were made by a large dog. Dr. G also failed to mention the dog’s history of aggression and biting, and the fact that it was re-homed out of state immediately following the incident.

And, by immediately, When was the dog rehomed? Also, the chief medical examiner as well as doctors and nurses disagree. They use science. No mention of the following? -Those lacerations look more like animal scratches and the house did have such a large dog. This dog was re-located out of state. If these scratches were abrasions from road rash then O Keefe was wearing some type of short sleeved clothing in the winter? Ok. -The house was then sold $50k below market value. -A snow plow driver drove by that road between 12 am and 5 am and did not see the body where it was later discovered. The police report filed listed the snow plowing company as an entirely different name thus the snow plow driver wasn’t interviewed. This snow plow driver will be now testifying for the defense. -Karen was drunk but this entire group of friends consisting mainly of LE let her DUI? -If it was a death by blunt force trauma to the head, why does O keefe also have two black eyes, a cut underneath one of his eyes in additional to a skull fracture? Did Karen Read punch him and then ran him over? -Why is the Boston DA crying on TV like a baby and putting ‘evidence’ over the media? For example, he stated that cell phone data suggests O keefe never enter the home. Yet at the same time, the prosecution is saying that Apple health data is unreliable and the time of the suspect google search is unreliable as well? How is that going to come across to a jury? -so their friend supposedly never arrives to their house as agreed and they don’t even send him a text like “hey, where are you?” or “are you still coming?” But they do google the question about how long it takes for someone to die in the cold? Which was searched at 2 am, 3 hours prior to the discovery of the body. -O keefes phone was found underneath his body and not in his pocket. Why is his phone outside of his pocket with no record of usage? No phone call attempts for help? why wasn’t it flung elsewhere on the scene? Or found in his hands at least?

Also if you can see out of the window enough to see an SUV pull up and then leave at specific times , why did she not see the SUV make a 3 point turn, and if she can see an SUV pull up and leave , why couldn't she see the accident , she either couldn't see an SUV and is making it up , or she saw it pull up and leave dropping John off.

Excellent articulation of the most concerning aspects of this case, @fred7769. My ex-husband is an animal control officer in our county, as well as a reserve police officer, and when he saw the autopsy photos of the lacerations on Officer O’Keefe’s arm, he said, “Without a doubt, those were made by a large dog. They should have tested the wound for animal DNA, then compared it to the resident’s dog. It’s not a coincidence that they re-homed the dog out of state immediately after this incident.” As a longtime LEO, he is rarely critical of other LEO’s, but he thinks this case is a bonfire of conflicts of interest, and a glaring lack of common sense on the part of the investigators and prosecution.

If you’re into true crime (& being you enjoy Dr. Grande) I recommend the channel “Reporting Live from My Sofa” - Paul has such great energy - he offers the perfect amount of info about crimes he’s covering & it’s evident he has a heart of gold as he shows such empathy towards the victims of crimes, yet he’s able to throw in bits of humor, even when discussing the most heartbreaking of crimes, & does so without it being rude in any way. It feels like your sitting down with a good friend as you enjoy some coffee & chat about the latest events in the true crime world when you watch his videos… I also enjoy Dr. Grande for his calm deameanor & enjoy hearing his perspective on many various happenings & of course, the dry humor he’s so brilliantly able to weave into his commentary! I hope that makes some sense as I struggle with relaying my thoughts in the way I wish to because of a chronic neurological disease I’ve been fighting for many many years now. I’m so sorry to know you are facing & fighting through a disease, especially one that is progressive - May your hard days be as few as possible & your good days plentiful! Sending you positive juju plus much love & light. ❤

Killing a cop in Boston is tantamount to killing an Irish mob bone maker. Not a smart move. At least to me, it is obvious that the Boston PD NEEDED to pin it on someone, and Karen Read was an obvious target. Did she kill Johnny? Honestly, even as an investigator, I don't even know if SHE knows that she did it . The details are convoluted, and her changing stories make her look guilty of something. This unusual case proves to me that all because a person is "educated," does not mean they're smart. I would have had to investigate the crime scene for myself, in order to put the pieces together. But going into Boston PD's turf would be like "stepping into a rival mob's turf," regardless of just wanting to help. In any case, Karen is screwed.. .

So, with your reference to her being upset that John was doing to dump her, are you saying she was aware she struck him and left him there to die? Or was she drunk and unaware that she struck him, but afterwards realized she "might" have struck him because she was drunk? So either she intended the murder, she killed him when drunk, or something else. I don't know how bad the relationship was at that time and whether the woman was angry that he was going to dump her, in order to know if there was intent or this was yet another drunken accident. I'd say, if any evidence illustrated she was very angry at John and was vindictive in nature, she intentionally hit him and left him to die. If not and if she is a loving caring person ordinarily, she likely committed vehicular homicide not murder. I have no idea. Only thing I know is that John was NOT GUILTY of anything and should not have been murdered and left to die in the cold.

I'm still dubious tbh , the marks on John look like dog bites , the house owner had a dog and they got rid of it soon after , same with the house , that was sold quickly and under value. The fitness tracker by apple are usually reliable, cars do not make it show steps going up 3 floors ,,if it did everyone would be taking them back and wanting a refund , so imo he did go up steps and did walk that distance, as for moving after he was dead , the people could have moved his body and put it where he was found. My counter theory is that he went into the home , at some stage asked to use the toilet, the dog attacked because he was a stranger biting him severely, he would have needed the hospital, the owner got worried about the dog bite, an argument happened, he was killed from a physical fight and left in the snow , the police then staged the crime in a cover up.

It's kind of funny how I hear Kerry Roberts and Jen McCabe telling us on the witness stand about Karen telling them about the broken taillight when they got to John's house and pointed it out. When Jen tells it, the ADA then plays a video of it, and guess what? All it shows is the three of them going into the house. Then Kerry Roberts gets on the stand and ADA plays the video first and Kerry starts telling the same story, but then stops herself, realizing they were both caught in a lie. At least you are fair here and do not completely buy the CW's kook-aid, but after the trial, most people think she's not guilty. Hopefully, the FBI will find something and start making real arrests.

Dude, her tail light was not broken at all not initially you’re leaving so much out there is way too much circumstantial evidence in this case for this woman to be convicted. I’m not saying she didn’t do it, but I’m also wondering what happened inside that house you were just skipping all over the place and it’s not factual watch the trial people.

Every time I see a video from Dr. Grande, I am amazed at what he has to say. But then I'm more amazed by the endless content he can talk about and how many more videos you can come up with. There's always some crazy person out there waiting to do something, and there's Millions of other stories already out there.

I think this was an accident. Karen was drunk and it was at night. Karen probably didn’t see John and wasn’t sure if she hit him or not when she heard a thud. Drunk people are not very alert or aware.

I thought of that too, but the presentation of the evidence is confusing. Aren't we told that her friend witnessed this period of time? If he was struck so hard that it fractured his skull, wouldn't a person present and watching her turn around see that? The fact that she does not report seeing her hit him is troubling. I cannot make sense of any of it. Where does an allegation of a search history like "how long to die..." arise and then get denied by prosecutors? I wish we knew the source of this report.

She was drunk, so was he and she was also driving. Someone there saw something. And I do not believe she killed him .But I think she did hit him accidentally and he was so drunk he laid there and got hypothermia and died. This is what alcohol does to people.

I watched the trial from beginning to end and have watched every video and podcast on the Internet about this case. You probably need to go back and revisit all of the evidence and it really shows that conspiracy theories and coverups are very unlikely, but in this case it actually makes sense! Two experts came on the witness stand at Karen’s trial and said that his injuries on his body could absolutely not be from a car hitting him. He had dog bites on his arm, and he looked like he had been beaten up by Mike Tyson. The people in the house were cops, and they never came out to check even though there were ambulances, cops, and first responders on their front lawn, along with a dead police officer!! There are so many sketchy scenarios in this case that I honestly believe that it was a cover-up!

If you were a juror, having no prior knowledge of this case (not having watched any pre-trial hearings, never having heard of the case, only knowing what has been presented in court) I don’t believe the CW proved any of the charges against Read. I had never heard of this case and started watching day 1 of testimony. I remained open minded during the entirety of the trial and was not once convinced that she was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I was unsure of her innocence up until the very last day of trial when the experts hired by an unbiased third party (federal agency) testified that through their accident reconstruction and analysis of the victims injuries and the damage to the defendant’s vehicle that it was not possible that the two variables were consistent to have caused the other. It even made me confused as to why the CW would even bring these charges to trial having read the report of the two engineers who used physics, kinematics and math to determine their findings; not having been paid for or have any relationship to the defense team made it obvious to me that the prosecution was not being forthcoming….especially after the inverted video shown to the jury without explaining the edits, passing the video off as an accurate representation.

I can certainly appreciate the psychology behind a True Crime story, but I wish Dr. Grande would wait until the trial is over before offering an analysis. So many details have changed. Consequently, I think he is dead wrong on this one.
