I suspect that the Dumbledore family, along with several other wizarding families, has many more branches than the stories mention. Only children have never been that common, as far as I'm aware.

If you ever do a genetic test, you'll realize that you are related to a lot of people; you don't even know. They might not have the Dumbledore name. It is unlikely that the line is completely gone.

Going back far enough, they likely had some distant cousins. Maybe there weren't other poeple with surname Dumbledore, but some distant relatives could exist.

Another possibility, Newt did contain an obscurial once before. It's possible he could save Aurelius (Credence). That begs the question of where Aurelius is during Harry Potter, but then again they don't show Newt (except on the map), Tina or any other Scamander's either.

forgot to mention that Dumbledore was gay, which kinda stops the progress of family bloodline. adoption still exists, but doesnt carry down bloodline.

Dumbledore… Albus, was gay, but I’m sure there was alchemy to mix people’s blood, and artificial birthing must have existed in the early 90s!

Being gay doesn't necessarily stop a bloodline, although I suspect it did in Albus Dumbledore's case. There have been plenty of people in history who were expected to fulfill the family duty and managed to have one or more children despite not being attracted to the opposite sex. If someone was that concerned with bloodline, they probably also care about legitimacy and would have married too.

@@dkjkaden This is some dumb stuff right here. McGonagall was never stated as straight, she has massive lesbian energy. Snaps? That boy was as flamboyant as a black flamingo and extra and petty as any gay man I’ve seen, yet he was straight and actually wanted to pipe Harry’s mum! Not every gay dude wears a rainbow tattoo on their face and screams “Yaaaaaass queeeeeen”. JK does not care what people think, that’s why she always said whatever crap was on her mind, even if dumb. Grindelwald was even in the OG Harry Potter series! Voldemort went to him for the elder wand, something Dumbledore should’ve had! And then there was that picture of them Voldemort found that made him go after Grindle. Trust me, I hate blackwashing, gaywashing, and even white washing. But this doesn’t feel like that. Call it out right, don’t just cry at every gay. Ever read comics? Ice man? Now THAT did not make sense.

Dumbledore could have had children. It is possibility that he kept them secret to protect them for Voldemort in the first wizarding war.

Gay men have been known to have children. Some can perform with women to procreate even if they aren't attracted to them. I doubt Albus Dumbledore did, but it is possible.

I haven't seen it and only know the high level plot from discussions. I don't really have an opinion about canon vs not, but my head canon is that if Voldemort had a kid it was most likely because he needed a child of his bloodline for some dark spell. I'd also be unsurprised by him figuring out a way to do so without actually having sex.

i rarely comment on these things but watch them frequently... i'm going to say because Dumbledore was supposed to be gay and there was no mention of children and his brother had a 'fondness' of goats (i took it to mean something unsavoury) and there was no mention of Abberforth having children. Ariana died very young (once again i take what the boys did to her to the extreme...) i would say no the family died out... in the male line but doesn't necessarily mean there are no living relatives... i personally end my family name as i have not had not do i plan to have a 'male heir' the family name will die with me... my grandfather had three children only one of which was male, my father had four... that's plenty of females to continue on the family bloodline, but with a different name
