Since I've already used your link and got my own FUM I'm not going to feel guilty about skipping past your ad this time. In case anyone's curious, I've been smoke-free for 39 days now. In about 17 days I'll (hopefully) be off the patches as well. I know most people hate to do ads (fair), and a few of those don't even use the products they advertise (sometimes fair). But FUM has actually truly helped me and it's been money well spent. Thank you so much, Aidan. You've had a hand in saving my life. For anyone who's interested in quitting for themselves, feel free to read past this point. I'm no expert; just sharing my experience. Otherwise you're done. Thanks for reading! In 35 years of heavy smoking I've tried to quit only one other time. I didn't last a week. The reason it's different for me this time (besides the lack of other substances) is twofold: First, you must actually want to quit. If you're quitting because you're feeling pressured by someone else, there is nothing out there that can help you short of a prison term. Go vape. If you really do have the desire and it's not going so well, don't beat yourself up. It's not a pass-or-fail test. Slipping up is part of the process for most. The only thing that's important at all is that you get back on that horse. Within reason, of course. Dont quit before you go to bed then fall off when you wake up. Don't be a child. Second, Know Thyself. Some people can quit cold turkey -- I am not one of them. The hardest part for me is the oral fixation; the hardest time to resist is whenever I'd smoke a cigarette to punctuate something -- the end of a meal, work break, etc. The way I choose to use FUM is to *only* use it at those times, and only at the locations I normally smoked in hopes of tricking my brain into thinking it was the real deal. It's working! Meaning, unlike being able to do incredible feats of math when the alarm clock is going off, I actually forget that I 'need' to go fake smoke more and more often...which is the entire point. Also, just throwing this out there but try to isolate yourself as much as possible (at first) to keep your stress levels way down. Not immediate family of course; this is the stuff they're supposed to be supportive with (if you're lucky). Otherwise you're nobody's friend right now. When you are abusive make sure you apologize. A lot. I almost murdered the guy I hired to do some work (after trying to snort him). He accidentally stepped on my favorite grasshopper. Considering the guy only charged me $350 to beautifully fix the entire west wall of my house, it's safe to say I lost perspective. (His name was George.🦗He often sat on my shoulder while we watched the sunset together.) This negativity doesn't last forever. The beginning bursts of hostility will fade. If it happens again after I'm done with the patches I'll come edit; I have a feeling it might. Hopefully this was helpful to someone. Any questions, or if you just need someone to scream at while you're quitting, feel free. And good luck!

I grew up in this area, there are caves and holes all over the place, abandoned wells, etc, I was 11 when Dennis Martin disappeared and remember it vividly, since I have grown up and thought about this, I believe that he fell into one of these caves or holes, it doesn’t take much time for leaves and overgrowth to cover a particular area, his body is still there covered in feet of dirt and leaves that have accumulated over the many years since he disappeared.
@arabellabaldwin77642 ай бұрын
That makes more sense than any other theory about Dennis' disappearance. There is a photo, supposedly showing the last place he was seen, and it is a field with trees, shrubs, brush, and open space. If Dennis tripped and fell, he would have rolled downhill, but in view of the rest of the family, (IF the photo is correct which may be a big "IF"). It is hard to understand how he could have gotten lost, as his family should have been in view, especially as they started searching for him within minutes. But falling into an old well, cavern, or fissure in the ground would explain his disappearance, and - if he was knocked unconscious by the fall - why he didn't hear searchers calling for him.

I’m I the only one that oddly wants to go missing in the woods? Seems like a good time!
@robonator29452 ай бұрын
I really feel like you'd have to fall down an incredibly deep hole incredibly carefully to actually not be found with any sort of vaguely timely response. (when your approximate location is known) Even if we ignore sniffer dogs that should be able to find the body easily unless the hole is unfathomably deep, you'd also have to avoid crushing, breaking, or otherwise disturbing vegetation and such nearby which would both uncover the hole *_and_* lead people to it. Combine that with the fact that his general area would be known and a response started timely enough that the body wouldn't have been completely decayed/covered and any foliage distruption wouldn't have regrown and it's really hard to just write all of it off as just "he fell into a hole" as if it explains things. Is it *_possible?_* Yes, but even so those are some pretty major caveats. Falling into a hole definitely can make someone go missing, but generally that's the case when their location is unknown, there is no timely response, etc. When it's recent and the area you're working in is already fairly narrow though it'd have to be an incredibly unlucky hole for that to happen.
@carlacook51812 ай бұрын
@@robonator2945 the hole wouldn’t necessarily have to be deep, remember that he was a small child, if he had fallen and broken a leg, his back or neck, really any hole no matter how deep would have done it, like I said I grew up in this area and I know what it is like, he could even have crawled under a rock ledge, a snake could have bitten him, really I guess anything could have happened, I know he was scared at the end, those mountains get dark before the sun goes down .

The Green Berets involvement strikes me as the kind of nonsense a new commander would come up with as a way to combine a public affairs stunt and a training exercise. Green Berets have a skillset that is insular to themselves and that is usually classified so their tactics (and identities) can't be studied by adversaries. So, it makes sense that they would want to search in an area with no press. Their comm gear also would not be compatible with any other agency, it would operate on totally different frequencies (it was probably encrypted too). Coordinating comms is notoriously difficult even inside the military, there's no chance they could talk with civilian searchers at the time unless they were given radios by the searchers. I think it was well intentioned, but probably unhelpful (possibly even a hinderance) to have the Green Berets involved. The only SOF unit I would want assisting in a civilian SAR op would be USAF PJs, SAR is their mission and they are trained to work well with others.
@standingwatchinarizonaАй бұрын
Nah. Green Berets just don't go off on search rescues for kids who go missing . Otherwise they would never be at base. Something going on there. And it had nothing to do with training. Their deployment would require more than a unit commander to approve such a mission.

I'm sure this is coming but im halfway through and i just cant belive DP has never heard that bears sometimes stand or even walk on their hind legs. And by sometimes i mean like, they reach up for stuff in trees daily, they scratch their backs on trees, they stand up to look over stuff.... like that is not unusual at all to see them in that position.
@elisetanner30892 ай бұрын
David Paulides is well aware the a bear is able to momentarily stand on 2 legs, take a few steps. As well as STEVE ISADAHL-HOW TO HUNT, people send in their experiences with Bigfoot. DAVID AND STEVE are good friends, STEVE has actually harvested a few bears that came after him. So for the B.S. and lack of reporting the truth, Aidan I would have so much more respect for you if you didn't constantly spread this $hit. I know you are witty, dry and a pompous smarta$$, you are young and have much to learn.

I used to have a SIL that worked in the Natl Park Service, she started in the Smokey Mts. I guess that is the training zone to put new Rangers through the "tests", during her time there she was interviewed by several men who weren't Park Services. She finally passed and got moved to her dream park in Washington State, she goes out and stays in watchtower for weeks, alone. I asked her if she had seen anything weird and she quickly replied, " nope, not at all." I asked her why so many people disappear in National Parks? She said, " that's all made up, it's not nearly that high a number." This was an Xmas party at my In Laws. When it was deep into the night I helped her out to her truck with presents, frozen cookies, etc. When she got in and started up she leaned over and said...." those missing people are called 'acceptable losses'... and it's WAY higher a number than you could imagine." I never got postcards after that year. My ex says her sister is fine, talks to her all the time on FB. But THAT is creepy. Acceptable Losses....

I know this sounds farfetched but the Green Berets were designed as a wilderness guerilla unit. I wonder if one of their own became a "wild man" in the park and someone decided they would know best how to catch them.

@@betsyadams9670 They where already in the area training and their CO was friends with the man in charge of the search. He called up their CO and called in a favor. The CO only agreed because they where already in the area on a training exercise and they could use this opportunity for a more realistic training scenario. The Green Berets preform search and rescue missions for downed pilots behind enemy lines, using Dinnis as a stand-in for the downed pilot and the civi search groups as stand-ins for enemy soldiers looking for the pilot they just shot down makes for good training. It can also then be used as a publicity stunt to help increase recruitment, especially if they found him. Additionally, the rescue plan had Dinnis been found, called for Green Berets to fly into his location and extract him in an airlift by helicopter as that was the most effective way to get him to medical treatment should he be found alive.

Park Superintendent was at Glacier Park two years earlier. Lead Agent Jim Rikes was following an adult felon and two minors who were driving their vans over Park trails, and he refused to believe it was a bear until the day he died with Stage 4 cancer.. Rescue squads opened a gorilla den then requested help from the Army. The juvenile minor was arrested on a firearms charge. There were on going classes for search volunteers at the Smoky Mountain Institute and Fontana Village.

Ok, I gotta make a serious comment. Why would anything involving a missing person, not a murder, not a kidnapping, be redacted? And for entire sections to be so redacted that it makes them useless makes even less since. You don't need bjgface or aliens, the CIA or Freemasons to make this thing weird.

Sooo… I’m thinking what happened was Dennis was kidnapped by someone when he traveled northwest to try and play a trick on the adults that he came with and what Mr. Key heard was indeed Dennis screaming and the man he likely saw was obviously the one who had kidnapped him. The man then rushed to the car and drove away after realizing he had been seen and likely returned to the area to bury Dennis, which is exactly what the Ginseng poacher found when he claimed he found child’s remains. And the reason he waited 13 years to say anything to the National Park ranger about it was because… he was a criminal.

I gotta say, your newfound scrutiny of David bodes well with me. Your channel introduced me to his book, and I was eager to read it, but the more I did the more I found his work a bit lackluster in terms of sources. I was a student at the time, and had a lot of databases available to me, so I would check every source of wahtever book I was studying cause I just love knowin stuff. You'd be surprised how many sources people site aren't entirely credible. Your videos started to dissappoint me, partially because I'm aware how many evangelicles attribute bigfoot to an angel of sorts. Not to say religious affiliation makes me dislike folks, just that I start to scrutinize their work a bit more when they mark certain boxes. When people reference David I get a bit skeptical, so I was very pleased to see that such a big youtuber started to fact check him with such an even hand. I might get shouted down from forum posts a bit less now hahaha

Too many people, including Paulides, seem to be completely ignorant of the existence of NG SF, and that they commonly provide support and strategic assistance in domestic operations like a search and rescue. 19th/20th SFG have resources and budgets that need to be used and they find the most productive ways of doing so. It's not that deep, NG SF guys aren't tier one super soldiers hunting down child-snatching cryptids like a hollywood movie. They helped out to check a box on their training block and then went back to their normal 9-5's. Too many people just straight up do not understand SOF at all.

what if the terrain the green berets were focusing on simply worked best for whatever training objective they were aiming for? eg say they brough an expert on a certain topic in to train them for a certain time period; simultaneously this kid has gone missing, so they look at the nearby terrain and figure they can kill two birds with one stone... I know this is a specific assumption, but I've never once seen a solved "mystery" which didn't have some prosaic outcome like this

The Green Berets are easily explained. Green Berets train for a mission called CSAR. Combat Search and Rescue. Looking for lost military personnel in combat environments, like pilots who have been shot down. CSAR missions involve searching an area under control of the enemy while avoiding contact with the enemy. This would have been an opportunity for them to train this mission while assisting in the search for Dennis, using the other search parties as representatives of an enemy force and evading them.

@@robertnunneley100 Might not have been there for them to find. I suspect that he either fell into something (a well, a cave, a crevasse, something) or was abducted. He just disappeared too quickly and too completely for anything else. Also the CSAR mission is conducted with the searchers assuming that the people they’re looking for are evading the enemy, but want to be found by friendly forces. Dennis was a small child. He wouldn’t have been following the normal escape and evasion tactics that a lost soldier or downed pilot would.

@matthewravo1252 ай бұрын
Hey brotha, your videos are awesome. You get me through a lot of days. On the SF thing, Robinsage is apart of that area and those 80 SF men were likely not Green berets yet. They would be deployed in that area for a training exercise and they would be armed with rubber weapons. The army is long known for helping search and rescue in times of need especially during training operations. The park would also have likely shut down for a period of time to allow for certain fictional battles that take place (with blanks) and the only civilians allowed in the area at this time would be a decent number of local actors that most have participated in this for a very long time and most as well don't talk a lot about it. They would not have been deployed because of the search and rescue but rather were in the right place at the right time, likely.
