The scientists didn't tell you that grain starches are carved up into disaccharides like maltose, sucrose, or oligosaccharides before being cleaved into glucose and/or fructose all the same. A Jolly Rancher has either sucrose or high-fructose corn syrup. So there's a big question on why sweets were limited while grains were to be eaten the most when the sugar/carbs were going to flood the body all the same.

As a kid I remember my mother tried following the low fat crap, while my dad would eat pork with crackling and all. Obviously my mother was overweight and my dad was lean. Everything makes so much more sense now! I've heard people complaining about the food pyramid being totally wrong before and never understood it, because I thought "Wait, the food pyramid isn't that bad!". Turns out, we were just thinking of different food pyramids. I had never seen the American one before and always thought all of them looked the same, but actually the ones I'm familiar with (grew up in Europe) are different. Water and sometimes tea at the bottom, followed by vegetables and fruit, then (whole) grains, dairy, meat and healthy fats (the order of those last 4 isn't always the same) and at the top are sweets, alcohol and junk food.

Fat is considered an enemy when certain fats are healthy. A diet with unsaturated fat makes you healthy. Keep in mind those “low-fat” foods have more sugar and salt because the lower fat takes away the flavor, so sugar and salt must be added; it makes it more unhealthy.

Its because we are uneducated in nutrition that we are unsure what's good or bad. But i am pretty sure natural sugars, avocados, eggs, olive oil, coconut oil & organic fat fish will make you to a superhuman :D When you hungry, you crave for sugar, fats & high energy all which persist in junk food. So they trick you, when all you had to do is look for the tasty superfoods change your brain dynamics for food by consistent eating the right ones will make you crave them more.

But you get hungry, so you order your groceries online, then order a delievery service to bring said groceries to your door. But you get 'really' hungry while waiting, so you order another delievery service to pick up some fast food and bring it to your home while you wait. Don't you think that, you know, maybe part of the problem was that *basically nobody followed it to begin with???*

I really dont think the food pyramid was the problem. It was the people who didn't follow the food pyramid and did not exercise. One thing that has increased since 1992 is the amount of fast food people eat. Some eat fast food every day. Which is not recommended by the food pyramid.
