Can confirm, as someone trying to train my own service animal, I've read up on the service dog permissions the ADA grants and this is correct. My dog I intend to train for service work is currently just my ESA. She knows basic target training that will help towards that goal, and when the weather warms up, we're going to go out more and start working together, but it's lots of investment to get a dog comfortable working in all kinds of environments, so wish me luck as me and fatigue have meant regular training is slow going.

When in a situation like this where youre being instructed to refuse entry to someone, its best not to tell them to reason even if you know it for multiple reasons but the biggest reason is that its legitimately easier. Its easy to look at this and say that it would have been easier if they just said why they werent being allowed in but do you really think they would have just tucked their tail between their legs and walked away if told it was because of their past actions? or would the accusation escalate the situation? Youve now just handed them a whole new topic to argue with you about, while you have as much if not less information to talk with them now. Its better to let them tire themselves out on their own. The fact that this comes a little while after there was a bunch of disingenuous accusations of islamophobia thrown around by a couple accounts on a trans memes subreddit is a little funny. The same accounts posted the same post on other queer subreddits too, on the surface seeming like a genuine "these two parts of my identity feel at odds" type of thing, but then they got all false equivalence-y in the comments. Like, I'm not gonna assume this is related but it was recent enough that it's on my mind as I watch this. However, if stuff like this becomes a pattern, then I'm gonna start calling psyop.
