Sorry If this is a little long but it is a true story about this very car. As a kid, on my birthday my Nan gave me the money to buy this James Bond car, I rushed to the local toy shop and bought it, rushing outside I ripped the box open { No collecting for the future or anything } and knelt down on the pavement to push it along , I pressed the little "ejector seat" button and it flipped open and ejected the little figure perfectly, I followed it's ark through the air and as I watched the little man disappeared straight down a drain on the roadside......I would pay anything just to see my own face when this happened lol. I was absolutely gutted but elated to discover later there was a spare in the box ha ha.

I have an identical story with one difference, the first day, but perhaps not the first ejection, he went straight into the furnace vent. The bad guy got incinerated. I don’t remember that mine had a spare. Perhaps I threw away the box and never knew. After watching this video I immediately went to the comments and of course I wasn’t the only one.

Funny you should mention losing the little bad guy. Just today, my dad showed me a scan of an old Corgi catalogue he'd found online, same one he'd had as a kid in the 60ies. And right there, next to this Aston Martin on the page is a replacement set containing "Two spare Bandits". They knew it'd happen.

It's true that I don't want; the red progress bar to be erased, from all of the toy car restoration videos I've already listened and watched. If they get erased; the educational videos brings on confusion, to what I've already listened and watched. Thus I become upset so easily. 😡 😞

Fun fact: my mate's grandfather was the original owner of Corgi toys. They began in Germany between the Wars making pressed tin toys. They had to flee Germany for England at the outbreak of WWII. My mate's dad, as a child, was tasked with "testing" designs - seeing how long they took to break. Best job ever.

@@JohnD640 As a 63 year old, I can say I still have my model of the Corgi Batmobile from 1967. Even has the price tag on the box. 13/6d old UK currency About £0.65. It was even worse that the James Bond Aston Martin for loosing bits. The 3 tube rocket launcher on the back came with 12 "rockets" (obviously they knew these would be lost), not sure but I think I have 3 left. Also had this James Bond DB5 when I was younger but sold off all bar the Batmobile a number of years ago. Incidently the story is that Corgi had this model ready to be released at the same time as the film and as the film was named Goldfinger, the corgi designers had assumed the car would be gold. Must have been some concerns when the film was released and the car was silver. Corgi had already released the gold edition but subsequent releases were in silver.

A great tip: use silly putty to cover detailed areas you done want painted. You can use a tool to push it into areas and get good coverage. Once you finish painting, it peels right off. Works great when you want to cover the body area where the headlights are, and just leave the headlights exposed. It’s shapable too, so you can put in anywhere on the car you don’t need painted.

Have just posted elsewhere on the page with my own memories on this car. I had the silver one, but @SvenTviking it wasn't the larger version with the spinning licence plate, it was this scale version. It was from a later re-release (circa 1980-ish), the hijacker passenger (two provided) came in plain blue plastic by that time too, presumably to cut production costs. I've always understood from Bond aficionados that earlier releases of the toy were on gold were to tie in to the 'gold' theme of Goldfinger, where the car made it's first appearance and after which the first release came.

Any restoration would involve stripping and repainting. So, the "as original" value would be lost. However, the value of the repaint job is added. Value is not objective as many seem to think, but is the amount a willing buyer would pay to a willing seller.

I just got a pang of sadness and regret after watching this. I had a yellow submarine with the fab four within (not a bad job on the modelling too). With the push of a button the four popped up from under a die cast lid. With a press of the lid all were concealed again, ready to pop up with a push of the metal button once again. The sub was on wheels as well. I also had a bat mobile containing batman and robin. It fired little red bullets from a push button launcher located at the rear of the seats. If I ever find them again, they're yours to restore. Top quality job, as usual. Thanks, I really enjoyed this restoration.

Not only are they relaxing, but they're also informative. I came to this channel not even knowing about the community around restorations, and now I could confidently instruct a friend in cleaning up a Redline. Thank you.

I had that Aston Martin I guess that in 1967, or 68, and I enjoyed it a lot. Wonderful job!

Thanks! Seeing that car took me back to the 1960s. Happy memories.

Nice restoration. I had one back in the day, when I was a kid. I wish I still had it.

This guy's insane how much effort he puts into these tiny cars. I used to love to paint my hotwheels cars as a kid. I never came close to these kinds of results though. Lol

I love your work...I wish I had space to make a shop I could do this work in. I can't believe the guy would have let you go to all the trouble of detailing the car without replacing the tires. That was the only negative part I could see. Beautiful kit...beautiful work!

“Geriatric Hitler” literally had me in tears. Your wit, care, and patience are a gift to us all. Keep up the inspiring work!

I just turned 63. When I was at school everyone thought this was the coolest car we had ever seen. It cost about seventeen shillings and six pence, which was a small fortune in those days. The packaging was super exciting. Anyone who owned one was king of the playground and was surrounded by awestruck admirers. Super restoration but I would have changed the tires.

VERY nice ! Thanks for posting this. Nice work you do. I had one of these cars when I was a kid. I think it was grey/silver like the movie car. Never saw this car in gold. I have an old Corgi Whizzwheels 66 Batmobile I was going to attempt to restore. I got as far as removing the old black paint, and that was it. ! It's still in a drawer somewhere now. Thanks again for posting.

I love your work. For those petrol heads who cannot afford a replacement real car to restore, you are the "rests expert" in smaller scale.

Beautiful job. Don't care about the scale, just do what you do.

Really enjoy your videos especially these larger formats (since many I had as a kid growing up in the 60s.) Would love to see your work on a Batmobile,Green Hornet Black Beauty and Captain Scarlet vehicles. Again, Thanks for posting these videos...I'm having a blast watching them and yes, they do bring back some fond memories.

Fantastic work. I don’t mind what car you restore as long as you keep making these excellent videos. Thanks.

Just stumbled across this video. Great job! I actually have one of those that a friend left when we were young and he left the country...by the time I got it, the passenger was lost. Mine is a silver colour, like in the actual movie. But you have done a great job here!

another fascinating video. I have one of these in the loft, you've inspired me to take another look at it.

Any and all restorations are cool with me! Your videos really awaken my inner 8 year old. I even went out and bought a hot wheels for myself for the first time in years. I decided to buy models of all the cars I have ever driven as a memory/keepsake of them. Keep up the good work!
