I bought one of these for my Man Cave - No missus allowed! 👍 But it gets bloody cold when I'm trying to work, I'm fitting mine external in a purpose made cupboard but i'll have the tank/power inside. I was worried about how flimsy these connectors are and the fuel line included reminds me of fish tank air line, I was looking around for a good solution and this video just confirmed my thoughts are correct on these supplied parts. Thank you so much for the advice and the vids!! Maybe posting a few links to the parts would help a few out to whats needed, especially when some are new to these heaters. 👍 cheers again!!

sometimes seen these heaters fitted outside the room when in fact they are better fitted inside the room and exhausted to the outside along with the combustion air intake pipe as well, that way the heater will recirculate the warm air allowing the room to get warmer more quickly.
@itsallfabrication Жыл бұрын
That is correct Merlin, and well worth a mention. Thank you.

It may sound great continuously recirculating the warm air instead of cold fresh air but without fresh air it will generate condensation inside a vehicle,its the reason I dont recirculate warm air.

What about installing a quick disconnect instead of a shut off? Would that work or do those tend to leak? For a shut off would a 6 mm inner fuel line diamater work? I have a 2 mm inner bore nylon line, guess it would not matter what size bore is before the pump?
@itsallfabrication Жыл бұрын
Yeah you could put a quick disconnect in if you like, not sure about them leaking as I tend not to use them myself. I use a 6mm metal fuel shut off, the beauty with that is, if you have to work on the fuel line further down (filter or pump), just shut the fuel off and it creates a vacuum in the fuel line, meaning the fuel stays in the line and doesn't empty itself, so less mess and less priming after fuel system maintenance.
@reddave8628 Жыл бұрын
Do you supply the pick up pipes on there own ?. I want to go straight into the tank on my vw t4 to save messing with the separate tank.
@chrisb58399 ай бұрын
Are these standard tanks vented? How do you get around a vacuum being formed when the fuel is sucked up through the pipe?

What is the inner bore size of the rubber connections to fit the 5 mm outside diamater of the nylon line? Suppose to be snug right?
@itsallfabrication Жыл бұрын
Get diesel rated rubber pipe with an inner diameter of 4mm. Also spray the inside of the rubber pipe with WD40 when you are fitting the pipes together, otherwise is a real pain to get them pushed in.

Yes you can. Get one of the o-rings in the outlet and measure the outside diameter of the o-ring, followed by the thickness of the o-ring. Order two nitrile o-rings of that size and replace. Nitrile o-rings are usually olive green in colour.

What about using that metal pickup used for cars Diesel tank and fittng on top of plastic Jerry bottle tank? My tank area is only 33cm high and have to get a 5lt box tank - also a flat fiber/nitrile washerwould be best on original tank spigot?
@itsallfabrication2 жыл бұрын
A lot of folks use the pick up pipe in their van fuel tank, fitted through the sender unit, and that's ok. The issue I have with that approach is, road diesel in the UK has a lot of tax added to it, whereas I can buy red diesel at about half the price of road diesel and use that to power the diesel heater, making it cheaper to run. As concerns the original tank spigot, I'd never fit a fuel outlet to the bottom of these tanks and have that tank fitted inside the van, because even with nitrile o-rings the outlet/spigot will leak eventually and that's a nightmare in a van.
@melbournesubtropicfruits94742 жыл бұрын
@@itsallfabrication Yeh i agree dont want to find a puddle of fuel not noticed after a time - in Australia we cant get cheaper untaxed diesal - unless i go to the trouble of refining fish & chip frying oil?
