we have that ReVGT... the dealer said, the car doesnt need a turbo timer... but i dont believe her... coz once the car has a turbo charger, you will take time to cool it off before turning it off... and i read the manual that extended driving or high RPMs make the turbo heated up.... thank you for uploading this

I know what you mean. There are many schools on this subject. Yes Diesel was used a long time ago, when things were not that complicated, to clean all sorts of motor parts. But, the issue now is also electronics and the sensors. For the most part Diesel is fairly ok, but may cause issues. These sensors are expensive and why take the chance. Anyhow, thanks for posting.

OK, a very common mistake Diesel driver do is floor the engine a few times, or turn AC on and raise RPM to cool down cabin and then immediately turn engine off. Turbo impellers turn at over 20,000-RPM. If after a high RPM light load condition you shut engine, turbo impeller will continue to rotating obviously with no oil pressure. It is a disaster in the making. Simply let turbo settle down for a minute or 2, then shut engine off.

@petterz13 I work six years in the target area that all this technolgy was built for all that i can say is turbos went left right and center and service manuals were changed as well as constands changes to service bulletin's. At the end of the day manufacturers don't care because someone is accountable through warranty.

Have you checked the charge air hoses and clamps from the compressor housing to the engine intake ? Sounds like maybe a pressure leak when engine is under a load, at increased boost. Usually makes a high pitched howl.

@ Mieden : turbos are cooled with oil on the bearing, not water

Hi, in this video you asked to not to stop the engine immediately but rather to idle for 3 minutes or so before switching off the diesel engine, otherwise oil in turbo might get coked. what i didnt understand is if we run it for 3 minutes in idle still the oil will be rotated in turbo, so when i switch off oil will be there in turbo and it gets coked , right?. or am i missing something.

The mileage when service must be performed is written in the vehicle's owner / service manual. Folks think they're smarter than the people who made the vehicle... And yes the manuals are specific, cover a wide range of situations from wherever you may be or how you use the vehicle.

Some interesting videos - for which I thank you - but why the computerised voice? It's both irritating and often not understandable, because of the disjointed diction and pregnant pauses. Cheers, Les.

Just remember Kids No Cold ragging and always change the oil yearly! Screw long life services that to keep lease cars happy!

I seriously question the knowledge of the producers of this video. About fifty years ago and before, coking was an issue. It was caused by low-tech oil. Oils have come a long way since then and coking is no longer an issue when using a high grade oil.

Modern cars (at least the German ones I work on) have electric water pumps that run after shut off to circulate coolant through the turbo(s) to cool them. Turbo timers are obsolete... Ill give them 7 to 10 more years before they"re extinct.

Easy! Don't use the stupid automated speech for your videos! That's so silly. Anyone's voice would be better than that.
