Working in GI and managing MASLD, Cirrhosis etc patients, weight loss is what reverses the liver inflammation, which leads to fibrosis and liver failure. Unfortunately, it appears that alcohol related liver disease is again surpassing MASLD in some cases, specifically women. The number of people I see shocked to find they have cirrhosis after years of diabetes and or fatty liver disease is surprisingly high. Reduce saturated fats, lose the weight and get the sugars under control. Easier said than done, but it beats the heck out of a liver transplant.

Over time you realize that it's not working out well for you. Eventually you succumb to the laws of thermodynamics. If you want to lose weight you will have to be in a calorie deficit. I asked meta Ai or should i say meta Dumb intelligence. Does diet soda increase fatty liver. Ai's reply Diet soda consumption is associated with an increased risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), formerly known as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) ¹ ² ³ ⁴. The key findings are as follows ¹ ² ³ ⁴: - Diet soda consumption is linked to an increased risk of MASLD, a condition in which there is too much fat in the liver. - The risk of MASLD increases with the frequency of diet soda consumption. - The association between diet soda consumption and MASLD is partly explained by body mass index (BMI). - The artificial sweeteners used in diet sodas may contribute to an increased risk of MASLD by promoting insulin resistance and glucose intolerance. - Diet soda consumption is also associated with an increased risk of other health problems, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and vascular events.

@StraightEdgeJunkie
@StraightEdgeJunkie Ай бұрын
I agree that sugar doesn't "make you fat" since what makes you fat is just excess calories, regardless of source, but the argument itself flawed; people can drink diet soda and still eat a ton of calories from sugary foods, and get fat. So, drinking diet soda doesn't "make you lean" - it can help you get there if you use it to replace other sources of calories. But if you add it on top of too many calories, you're still getting too many calories. But yes: sugar doesn't "make you fat". And I'm just being pedantic.

@StraightEdgeJunkie
@StraightEdgeJunkie Ай бұрын
@@Budgargy Eh. It's true that most of the fat we store is from the fat we eat. But what dictates how much overall fat we store ultimately comes down to energy balance. You're correct in saying that there are differences in how many calories there are available to potentially be stored in different foods - although sugar is actually more available than some other carbohdyrates, it's not the same rules for all carbs - but because it comes down to energy balance, you can eat, just work with me here, 200g of fat, totaling up to 1,800 calories, and if you expend 2,000 calories, you will store none of it. But if you eat 200 grams of carbs, now you will store 600 calories of the fat. Carbs generally are not directly stored as fat like dietary fat is, but they still play a role in working as a caloric cushion for the fat. And if you overconsume calories, but it's all from something like soda, with no fat, de novo lipogenesis takes over and you will store the net excess. You can't game calories in, calories out.
