I'd like to add one more strange thing about a fruitarian diet: They define fruit as whatever English speaking people would spontaneously call fruit. Botanically that doesn't make any sense - fruit is the seed-bearing structure. Apples are fruits, yes, but so are bean pods, zucchini, tomatoes and wheat grains. Nuts are fruits, too. Olive oil and spices like paprika and vanilla are made from fruits, as well. And why are seeds without a sweet fleshy structure around them (like flax seeds) not okay but eating the seeds in a banana is fine?

lalala blablabla it has nothing to do with being a woman or vegan. First of all, her husband (I assume?) seems to think the same way and also: they are not vegan, they are fruitarian. That’s a big difference. And it looks like you have not yet arrived in 2019, since you seem to have a mindset of someone who lived 300 years ago 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@arwenw.5198 I may be incorrect in my saying, but if I remember correctly from my food safety course, a majority of peanut allergies in America are caused by the major processing of the legumes compared to the older, more natural process that some small scale farms still practice. In a situation where there are not enough calories for baby - the baby will simply take from the Mother’s Fat reserves. ETA: I was saying this in reference to being pregnant which is ya know... when baby is being made which is what the OG comment was asking. Also if the mother had no fat she wouldn’t be able to get pregnant. Women need a certain % of fat to become pregnant.

A year after this comment was made: I just checked their channel, sadly they don’t ever show the baby and there is mixed speculation about his health. I saw one comment that said they made a blog post saying he had “passed away from a genetic heart condition.” However, no one was able to find the post and in a later vlog they show his hair. Currently it is unclear how he is doing, which to me means he likely is visibly unwell, but alternatively they don’t want to deal with people scrutinizing him. Wish I was able to find a more satisfying and hopefully “pleasantly surprising,” update :/

Everytime someone finds out I'm a vegetarian, they go on and on about how unhealthy vegetarians they know are and how bad it is and so on. It's gotten so far that on family parties I have to eat side dishes or bread because they refuse to not put meat in everything (beans with bacon, mashed potatoes with bacon, anything else cooked with meat to give it more flavour...). There is no such thing as a balanced vegan diet. There will always be deficiencies no matter what, we are predominantly carnivorous omnivores. We need a lot of red meat, organs, fish, seafood, poultry, eggs, animal fat and raw milk/dairy to be in optimal health.

@ that is very incorrect. I'm not vegan but no, you're wrong. If you're planning well and eating fortified foods and taking suppliments to fill in the gaps there's no reason you need animal products.
5 жыл бұрын
@@SjofnBM1989 Those "fortified foods" and "supplements" are extremely bad for you, they're all synthetic chemicals that do more harm then good in the long run. Eat naturally to be healthy, if you need to take supplements or eat fortified foods (such as those unhealthy breakfast cereals or soy milk), then the diet is clearly unhealthy. One example is Vitamin B12, its way better absorbed from something like wild-caught salmon, then it is from a synthetic pill. And the pill of course is obtained using toxic methods, making it extremely unhealthy. Better to just eat real foods, then take fake pills. Not to mention that there are no drawbacks to eating quality raised animals, only advantages, so why avoid them if trying to be healthy?

@ Dude, we don't have sharp teeth or claws. If we were meant to eat meat, we'd have the evolutionary features to match. We'd be able to hunt and kill our own animals like a lion, without using tools. Also, milk is meant for infants, no matter your species. You can find most anything you need in nature without cutting up and cooking an animal. At best, we are omnivores, but a plant diet is healthiest.

Elvira Formiconi because instead of raising my young children on a diet that includes meat when they can not grasp the concept of the production of meat and non vegetarian products.I would allow them to make dietary choices when they understand, I would of preferred to be raised vegetarian instead of looking back now thinking of how I increased the demand in non vegetarian products as well as being sheltered of what goes into the production of the meat when I was younger. If my child decides to eat meat when they understand the concept and process of meat then so be it I would not stand in their way. It’s not like I’m a radical vegetarian who hates all meat eaters for their choices, my boyfriend is and always has been consuming meat but as he understands the process and if it wasn’t commercially available he would be able to do the process of hunting and gathering meat I have nothing against his choices so I believe if one understands what food goes through to end up on your plate and you would be able to do the entire process of how meat is made one has a justification of said diet.

@ In the modern day, we can take supplements. I've been pollo-pescotarian for a few years and am starting to go vegan, so I'll admit to having little knowledge on this subject, but to my knowledge, algae-based omega 3 supplements should currently be sufficient, as quite a large number of people are alive, healthy, and vegan. From a moment of research, to which I cannot attest, it appears that algae does have DHA and EPA levels comparable to those in fish. Historically, we have been know as an omnivorous race, but that does not mean that we need to eat meat, what with the rise in technology. Again, vegans are alive as proof that we do not need to rely on meat consumption.
5 жыл бұрын
@@coreykenku1723 Just because the vegans are alive, does not make them healthy. Also supplements are incredibly toxic and should only be used as a last resort, not as a method of replacing a healthy omnivorous whole-foods diet with an extremely deficient diet such as veganism or fruitarianism. If you are currently eating chicken and fish, I would strongly advise you to not go vegan. Do more research on the fat-soluble vitamins: A, D, E, K. And you will see why we need to eat some animal products to be in optimal health.

Abbey was certainly kinder than I would be on this issue. Being a fruitarian during pregnancy and early childhood is getting very close to child abuse. As AS points out, neurological development is not well supported by a fruit diet, and could easily lead to developmental problems and learning disabilities. Most fruitarians forget that their mothers didn't raise them on a fruit diet, they adopted the diet long after their neurological development was complete.

Me too. They initially posted a few photos of baby Leo, but people were shocked by his gaunt appearance and expressed a lot of concern. Their content changed after that and you never see any photos of their children (which of course is their business). I did hear that Leo had some health problems, I just hope that he wasn’t permanently damaged due to Tina’s restrictive diet during and post-pregnancy and the fact that she didn’t she a doctor throughout her pregnancy. I really do hope the children are healthy.

@@itsinthewayyoumove4127 That's ok if you dont. You're not me and I am not you. I dont have to endure the numerous er visits(around 2-3x a month), less than 2 hrs of sleep daily, vomiting blood and extreme bloating issues anymore. Was plant based for 3 years, started getting really sick out of nowhere. Ended up getting 4 ulcers in my stomach and 2 in my intestines, was diagnosed with IBS. Meds didnt help, ulcers were still there. Tried fodmap, no help. Started doing gastric emptyings. While plant based in 4 hours my body didnt even break down 8% of the food in my stomach. Got diagnosed with gastroparesis adding back animal products, 5 medications (one which caused seizures yipeeeeeeee) and 2 years later, i was at 10%. I was at the point of getting a feeding tube. I decided to fast cause fuck it. after 24 hours i was actually able to sleep. 10 days later i had dropped 25 lbs, was feeling AMAZING. Didnt last cause i was dumb and introduced plants back into my system. After an elimination diet i figured grains and veggies caused the bulk of my problems, fruits not so much but they still made me sick. it's been 5 months later, down 80lbs. 6days of the week i eat pure carnivore while having 1 day (usually friday/sat so i can prepare to be sick) where i have a small amount of veggies and fruit (no more than 1/4th a cup of each). Even with that im bloated and nauseous for 4-6 hours but no where near as bad as before.

I still get nauseous and bloat to the point i look 9 months pregnant for 4-6 hours but it doesnt make me deathly ill anymore to where i vomit blood or have to stay in the er for days.

@@TTR83 that's uneducated conjecture. The healthiest longest living population is the 20% of The Seventh Day Adventists that are vegan, less rates of disease, average of 10 years longer life expectancy, higher nutrient levels. There is nothing you need from meat (fish is "meat" by the way) that you can't get from plants, most of which you get more of. People don't get sick from lack of meat, they get sick because they don't eat properly and or have underlying issues from the lifetime of damage done from eating a shit diet that contained meat, dairy, eggs, junk food, alcohol and drugs hence why there are so many people that were raised vegan that do not have health problems decades on, because they had no damage from toxins in animal products, lack of fibre etc to begin with. All the problems they face can be fixed within the vegan diet.

Firstly, thank you for distinguishing this from a vegan diet and secondly, that was such a great way to talk about her diet without assassinating her character. The truth is most of the people that put their kids on such restrictive diets do it because they think that's best and by just laughing at them we are doing a disservice to them, their children and whoever else might be following their advice.
