808 sounds much thinner or more rolled off on the low end to me.

Ya the 808x is just MORE 808. So more low cut. More mids etc. it rarely gets used except on really muddy guitars that really need it.

the Klon has become my favorite. are these tube screamer pedals you can buy, or they only exist as plugins?

Hey Beau! Nice video as usual!! I’m kinda new to all of these production stuff, just trying to gather all the information possible. Regarding to the DI recording, whats your signal chain.. I’m trying to find a great way to record it, and to hit the amp sim (Tonehub - Beau Burchell), the best way possible.. Just got the new controlhub, and heard Mark Lewis talking about his Neve 1073 preset for recording DI’s, by putting it as a preamp and recording after it, also heard Andrew wade having a Jst Clip in front of it to control the low end straight in.. Im kinda lost eith all this infos.. Lol! Would appreciate a lot a reply from you, how you approach to your DI recordings. Of course, a video would ve very helpful too.. And why not in the future a whole recording, mixing, mastering with Beau Burchell course.. Lol! Been a fan of you and Saosin for a long time! best tubescreamer to my ears is the EHX east river drive. and i've had them all. original 808, TS9, maxon, modded ts9, every knockoff brand you can imagine. the EHX just has the sauce to my ears.

Sorry dude but reamping sucks!! Is nice to fool around with, but not for real profesional recording. I own the radial jd7. And I don't like the reamping sound. Tanks for the video!!

I would agree with your situation. I owned the jd7 as well as a few of the individual boxes. No matter how much I messed with the drag, it ALWAYS sounded way different than playing directly into the amp. Get the michael Wagner studio tool and it will change your mind.
