The role of Tv and social media in spreading negativity, chaos and violence is something we need to gaurd our mind from. Feel others joy & happiness as often..

I know right? AB has such a wicked sense of humor and it brings such greatness to his talks, I've started watching some of his talks feeling so down and depressed but go away feeling wonderful.

Perhaps, it is timely. The Buddha is timeless. Will Ajahn Brahm mind when we are sad when he dies? However. I agree with typical "empathy gone bizzare" not being useful. We should celebrate sympathetic joy equally. 😊

I asked one of the local monks what i should do at a funeral when i'm not sad but i'm actually happy to have known that person. He told me to be a rock in a storm, rocks don't laugh or cry they just be, in the midst of chaos.

I agree that Empathy used as a weapon is not good. Some advocate extinction of all Life because of Suffering. Now, THAT'S bizarre. However, Feelings are a part of being Human. It's perfectly natural and kind of implying that they should feel shame for expressing them is, to me, rather unkind. And in fact can be quite unhealthy. Being sad at funerals is an affirmation that Life is good. I wish I knew why AB doesn't see that point :/

Sadness is an emotion of attachment because of missing of the person that disappeared from human life. Sadness has no benefit to anybody. If the dead is attached to human life and see sadness from missing her or him, th dead will feel more attached. life goes around after death. Funeral is like watching red leaves in the fall.
