I found one thing in this video that was confusing. In the section on DDR4, you say that the I/O bus rate should be 4 times the internal clock rate (which is the same as for DDR3). But then in the table at the end of the video, it shows DDR4 having an I/O bus rate that is 8 times the internal clock rate. Is this an error?
@iamsmartacus5 жыл бұрын
After doing some research on my own, it seems like your information on the DD4 RAM in the earlier part of the video is correct, but the entry for DDR4 in the table at the end has some wrong values. You might want to double check this.

so on ddr3 are you referring the clock frequency just as the external data bus or the system clock? Because I thought the ram had to be as fast or faster than the system clock or else the computer would crash? I do understand when ddr3 came about there were improvements in the input out put and the electrical system and ram buffers too not sure what a ram buffer is and or how they actually improved ddr3

for example on the data rate for ddr4 200 times 800 you get 1600 but 400 times 16000 shouldnt that be 64000? but you still got 3200 but you multiplied 800 times 4 and got 1600 but multiplied 1600 only by 2 why is that one multiplied differently?

Hi The clock frequency mentioned here, is it the CPU clock frequency ??
@ALLABOUTELECTRONICS2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is the clock frequency of the memory controller, which is interacting with the RAM.

If a computer is using DDR3 SODIM, can it also use DDR3 SDRAM. I am looking at a Mac Mini and working out the best upgrade for it.
@Muneeb.26610 ай бұрын
I don't think so because SDRAM has DIMM packaging and it can't be placed on a SODIMM supported motherboard.

i have a doubt!!! you have given maximum band width of SDRAM as= (100*64)/8=800 MB/s but 100*64=6400 bits and 1 byte=8 bits so 100*64/8 =800 bytes/s but not 800 MB/s
