Jonas, as always, much appreciate all your work. With regards to my own wishes, I would like to see you devise a more rigorous methodology as regards to your racquet and string reviews. For example, TW has their Playsight system to measure different stats so customers can see if their reviewed racquet generates any differentials versus their current. Perhaps you should think of devising a checklist and measurements so you and your audience can gauge the factual quantitative changes rather than just relying on the qualitative. Much appreciated.

I would second that. Having a set sequence for the review would help compare between frames.

Interesting idea Chairman - certainly food for thought for sure! Personally, I like the quantitative approach. The reason being despite quantitative differences and important stats such as weight, balance, swingweight, headsize, beam thickness, RA etc, thereafter much is based on personal preference and each racquet may play differently in the hands of a different player, based on their style (technique, weight of shot etc). And then there is the differential that sting choice/tension makes. That can really change the playability (better or for worse) dramatically. Typically, we can see how Jonas plays, we know the type of racquet he gravitates toward, his preferred swingweight etc, so I find his thoughts most informative. It's a bit like audio reviews. Perhaps stats are helpful, but we all hear differently and have different preferences. Nothing will beat a racquet demo, when all is said and done! Cheers!!!

Not sure if this was mentioned in the comments already, but I think the Head Liquid Metal Radical tour should be a 98sqin. I know because I purchased grommets HLMRT for my Head Pro Tour before. I had hit with this racquet once (the Made in Austria version) and it felt super good! I currently use the Head Pro Tour (with CAPs) as my primary stick. Love it!

Head LM Radical! is a beast! You can plow through with confidence, so you create the power you need with excellent control. What can a man expect more from a frame? Wilson ProStaff 95 is similar, and you can choose between 18x19 and 16x19 pattern. The latter smoother, livelier ball contact. Head LM Radical with 16x19 pattern would be top-notch. 100 frames are the trend, even for good players nowadays. 95,97, 98 Frames are giving the best control and still enough headsize against mishits. If you play more classic, maybe youeven like attacking the net you will these smaller frames give you more confidence.

Good video. I would love to hear your opinion on racquet types for specific types of players, for example serve and volley....or baseliners. I'm a 4.5 USTA with a western forehand. What racquets types should I be looking at vs someone with an eastern forehand like yourself.

Hi Jonas, I thought this was a good overview. A suggestion: you describe some racquets with their characteristics, whereas I think it would be easier to understand for a beginner if you described all the paramaters individually. For instance: pros / cons of heavy vs. light frame; open pattern vs. tight pattern (and the variations); flexible vs. stiff; head light vs. head heavy etc. And then, you could show some racquets for illustration purposes. Another angle: a specific video for beginners racquets; another one for baselines / spin; another one for all-round / attacking; etc.

I still have 5 of those Head Radical MPs laying in my closet. I couldn't even give them away to charity. Perhaps I'll restring them and add some weight along with my Original Aerogel Drive. The opposite of racquets

Jonas, with the head liquidmetal mp 18x20 grommets is there anything on the market that would fit that? I’ve spoken to tennisonly and head Australia and both said no grommet available. Would like to see if anyone has changed grommets for these frame recently 😎

I love the Wilson Six One, it's hefty but head light. So I can get power without taking huge swings, and also volley confidently and hit one handed backhands. But the bloody thing gave me an arm injury because it's over 12oz and I have skinny arms.

@srenperegrine447
@srenperegrine447 5 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you want for the string. Do you need it to be easy on the arm? How much money can you spend? Do you want more power, spin, or control? Do you like a softer feel, or more crisp?

Søren Hi! Good point, I’m looking for spin and something easy for the arm, about the money let’s just say I do not skimp so much when it comes to tennis. Greetings.
@srenperegrine447
@srenperegrine447 5 жыл бұрын
@@brucezidane I have a lot of suggestions, I'll try to explain each of them. Volkl Cyclone 16 Many players like this string for its tremendous spin potential and control. It's low power allowing you to take full swings. Fairly soft on the arm. Solinco Tour Bite Soft 16 or 17 This is a really nice soft string. I tried it and it was one of the softest strings I have ever played with. Not as much spin as others but very arm-friendly and good power. I don't like soft strings but for somebody who does this is very good. Solinco Hyper-G 16 I don't like this string for some reason, but maybe just me. It has a lot of spin and feels very soft. Does seem to break fairly quickly though. Gosen Polylon Ice 17 My favorite string. I actually use the 16g version in my Ezone DR 98. For the price, it is the best string on the market by far. Very low power stiffer string, but that allows me to swing as hard as I want up and get more topspin than with other strings I have used. Also the longest lasting string I have ever used. This stuff lasts so long you have to cut it out before it breaks usually because it goes dead then. You may like it if you string it at lower tensions. At low tension it feels okay on the arm, just not as soft as some others. I love the control and crisp feel with it, but it may not be for you. I always tell people they should try it though even if they may not like it because maybe you will change your mind. Gosen Polylon Comfort 17 A very comfortable soft for the arm multi string that lasts pretty long and gives you good spin and control. Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable 17 Never tried this but I have been told that this is string has the most spin on the entire market. It is low power and medium stiffness I think. Diadem Impulse 16 I have heard this is a decent soft multi string. Have not tried it. Prince SynGut Duraflex 16 My favorite synthetic gut string. Lasts fairly long and has a lovely soft feel, amazing touch and control with pretty good spin. Babolat VS Touch Natural Gut 16 This is the most expensive string on the market at about $42 US per one pack. But it is the easiest string you will ever find for your arm. The power, spin, and control are heavenly. Best tension hold of any string. The big downside though is that it breaks quickly and expensive, so if you are a string breaker you probably should not get this. If not, try it. It is hard to describe what natural gut feels like, but it is unlike any other string.

Great content, Mr. Nerd! In a video like this one, I would love to see some kind of side-by-side comparison of various strokes illustrating the differences among these rackets. For example, how does a strong top-spin forehands come off these rackets? Showing the launch-angle, spin, and speed characteristics with similar technique/effort using rackets in each category would really bring home how they are intended to be used and their strengths and weaknesses. Some basics strokes I'd find helpful and interesting are the aforementioned forehand top-spin, backhand slice, service, and volleys. I would also recommend something similar be included in your racket-specific play-test videos (which are also great btw!).

Reviewing game improvement / tweener frames is a good idea as Tennis Warehouse ignores most of these models in their playtests. There are also lots of old classic racquets you could review; I recall you reviewing the Arthur Ashe Comp several months ago. It would also be nice to have overgrip reviews, e.g., Tournagrip. Tours of tennis resorts might also be a good option including review and evaluation of their facilities including size, housing, courts, pros, etc.

Hi, Jonas: I think your VLog is a great idea! I believe a lot of tennis players would benefit by understanding how things like head size, frame thickness, string pattern, vibration cushioning and, of course, swing weight are measured and function. Then, with strings: the principal types of string materials, how they perform (stiffness, tension maintenance, spin production, etc.), typical string and stringing costs. Also, your opinion on whether co-poly string shape and "snap back" really contribute to topspin.

Hi there thank you for this content. Can you help me solve this problem? I have one issue with my old Dunlop Ti-2 racket. It seems to be too heavy ( I am an intermediate level player). I feel pain/discomfort in the lower part of the palm in the area of the little finger. My solution to this is getting a much lighter racket (270-285) head light. Do you think it will solve my problem?
