Laptop & Flip Flops Do you know any other languages than English and French? Are you planning on learning any?
@FrenchinPlainSight

Hablo un poco de Espanol pero solo un poco. I speak some Spanish but not much. I haven't decided my next language that I'll do long term. I like Korean and Swedish but they aren't super useful. Any you recommend?

Laptop & Flip Flops Oh I speak Swedish! Hej jag talar Svenska och skulle bli jätteglad om du lärde dig det. I think Mandarin is also good to learn because the Chinese are becoming very powerful and influential in the world.

Oui svp, je voudrais une vidéo sur "retrouver". Et aussi, les différences entre "retrouver", "rejoindre" et "rencontrer". Merci! I'm a native english speaker enrolled in French language school full-time. Your videos are super helpful and are a great supplement to my learning!

Excellent!~You have covered one of my favorite topics about French. Living in France I became aware of the very common use of 'là" and relative rarity of "ici". It's an example of how the language is taught to English speakers, often out of textbooks that don't reflect the way native speakers really talk. My favorite example of this is the expression "n'est-ce pas?"" which I don't think I heard a single time during the year I lived in France

Bonjour Alex, I discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying it! I am trying to resurrect my schoolgirl French for a trip in February. I created a KZbin account just to subscribe. Keep up the great work! One question - do you have transcripts anywhere or written notes on your episodes? Cheers, Von.

@FrenchinPlainSight 5 жыл бұрын
Bonjour Yvonne ! Merci beaucoup for taking the time to do all that just to reach out to me! At least now, KZbin will know to show you my new videos! At the moment, I don't publish transcripts. What exactly would you like to see? I'll look into it for the future.

Laptop & Flip Flops It just occurred to me watching earlier videos that I really should be taking notes, so I’ll have to re-watch them all! But having a written summary of each episode would be really handy to go over afterwards. Merci beaucoup Alex!

Lol, I've listened a few times now. I don't say "againment". That would be some funny franglais though. "And you've got" is the closest thing to that that I hear near that timestamp :)

En fait, c'est "ici" qui vient de "ci", pas l'inverse.

@FrenchinPlainSight

it's roughly like the difference between "this" and "that" in English, however, French will more often than not use "ça" for both. Cela can almost always represent ça in written French. Ceci is the least used. It comes up in really specific situations and in expressions like the one you've cited.

Will "schwee" ever become a thing for the French, as "C'est"? Sera «schwee» jamais devenir un chose pour les Français, comme «C'est» ?
@FrenchinPlainSight
@FrenchinPlainSight 5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean. C'est is not a shortcut. Schwee is a verbal contraction to speed up pronunciation.
"À ce moment-là" or "En ce temps-là" in French. Which means "at the time"?
