I'm new to yoga and just started taking yoga classes at a studio. I'm enjoying it, but I've been confused by the different terminology and styles and the purpose of each. This video helped me so much!!! Now I have an idea of what I'm doing and why! Thank you!

This video was just what I needed. I've been practicing vinyasa for about a year now. I got into yoga by doing yoga stretches for my sciatic pains.. anyway, with that said, I'll be looking forward to a yin or restorative practice with you. thank you so much and namaste. :)

Thank you so much Maris, I have found this really helpful. I do enjoy the Vinyasa flow style of yoga, but I intend to try the other types, especially Hatha. I look forward to you next video.

+Mary Phillips I'm glad you found it helpful, Mary. I guess we can classify some of the Gentle Yoga and other seated practice videos I've posted as Hatha. I am hoping to introduce other styles to the channel soon. Thanks for watching.

+Christina Cassidy Yes! A hatha-vinyasa mix is great! I guess some of the classes I post are a mix of both styles because I end with static floor stretches too. :)

Thank you mam this lecture but I have a question what is ashtanga yoga ? I have waiting for yin restorative Yoga...
@xinyunli67234 жыл бұрын
Hatha: physical practice, no flow. Good for beginner and it could be strong. Vin*** Flow: flowing style, link posture. Practice when having experience. Yin Yoga: on the floor whole time and hold a posture for a little longer time. Some can be intense. Restr****: a little more active.

what about ashtanga yoga?
@YogaUpload8 жыл бұрын
I only covered a few of the major categories. There are so many styles (even brands) of yoga - Ashtanga, Bikram, Jivamukti, Sivananda, Power, Baptiste, etc. I have some experience with Ashtanga but it's a bit limited. I used to go to an Ashtanga studio here but I eventually stopped because it was too strenuous for me. Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga primary series is a set sequence of poses. The flow is always the same and there are a lot of physical adjustments done by the teachers when in class. It's a strong, flowing, vigorous practice. The strength, flexibility, and mental focus one can gain through consistent practice is amazing. It's a wonderful practice but I honestly don't think it's for everyone.

This is very informative ❤I love hatha. For some reason, I am not a big fan of vinyasa even though I would consider myself intermediate level maybe because most of them have too many down dog 😂 I like to hold poses longer than one breath 😂
