Hello, I would like to book a consult with you, but your website doesn’t allow me to book a date. I’m interested in career coaching and other services you are currently providing. Thank you,

Hi, I'm sorry about that. I changed my website. Unfortunately, right now I am not taking on new clients. I am the CEO of two hospitals and that is taking up ALL of my time! But feel free to reach out with any questions that I can answer for you.

Thank you Dr. Comer for the valuable advices. Do your hospital offers healthcare administration internship program for those (students and recent graduates) who are interested to learn more about healthcare administration and consider it as a potential career ?

Can you consider a video of how to get from being a healthcare manager/director in a different healthcare sector to going into hospital management. I started an internship in 2016 at a hospital and now work as a director of Operations at a home health and hospice. Just curious on what routes are available. I do love what I do but I miss the hospital environment.

Hi Jonathan, that is a great question. Unfortunately, many HR departments have a fairly narrow tunnel vision of looking at specific industry (meaning that for a hospital job they want only hospital experience, etc.). My belief is that I hire for the person's mindset, values, and cultural fit - and the specific industry skills can be taught/learned. So there can be a high degree of variability in transferring from one area of health care to another. No matter what, there are lots of things you can do to position yourself to transition into different specific areas like what you want to do. So, in brief know that yes, you can get back to hospitals. Let me put something together and I will do a video on it!

Hello Dr Comer. I am an international student in the US. I am a pre nursing student right now I am also considering health administration. How likely do you think the hospital will sponsor visa for foreigners as a hospital administrator?
@dr.jeffcomer51852 жыл бұрын
Hello. Thank you for reaching out. For nursing it is very common to sponsor a visa. But for administration, it is not as common of a practice. I'm not saying it does not happen but it's not nearly as frequent as with clinical areas. Having said that, I suggest you network as much as possible. Linkedin would be a great option for you. Build up your relationships as much as you can while you are still a student and then you will have a higher likelihood of knowing someone who would be interested in bringing you over. Hard to say all of this in a brief message. I hope this helps!
