Why there is a pie phase difference when wavelets from A and C will arrive at P
@dhruv-1945 жыл бұрын
Phi = (2π/lambda ) * ∆x Hence if you put ∆x (phase difference) = lambda/2 Then phi =π hence the phase difference=π and cancel eachother out

What are applications of diffraction at single slit experiments
@helloneppАй бұрын
Won't the use of lens creates a phase different between the rays( say top ray and bottom) one at point 'O'? . I think so because the top ray has to travel more distance than bottom one(you can clearly see it, top ray is travelling along hypotenuse and bottom is along the base).

How i know that the path difference between A and C is lambda/2
@amisharajbanshi16625 жыл бұрын
Yes..I was also wondering about it
@ishabhadula25044 жыл бұрын
Because AB has a path diff of lambda and since C is the midpoint of AB, the path diff will also be halved. Thus, giving lambda/2 as the path diff between A and C.

All wrong i am afraid. . The pattern is produced by interaction between the light passing thru the blades of the slit and the light being absorbed and reradiated through the blades, either in or out of phase.. . In an opaque solid blade the patterns cancel out. The slit interferes with the complete cancellation of the thru wave and the rerqdiated wave....the total opposite to how it is taught... Please check oyt the Feynman Lectures...

its a bit confusing, you dont need a lens in between the slit and the screen.
@abhaadhikari8094 жыл бұрын
yes same i was confused by it too
@labskhokhar80163 жыл бұрын
This is because the rays are parallel and for them to finally meet, it will take a lot a distance. By using a convex lens we can make them meet at a near point.
