Robert Plant's solo albums have been really good. In The Mood...Big Log...Little By Little. Heaven Knows,,,,29 Palms...Honeydrippers ......I love all all those songs and projects. I think he is probably in the category of David Bowie as far as musical changes and never wanting to repeat himself too much. Led Zeppelin was like that from beginning to end. As a fan of music it is great to follow along what he does. There is a KZbin video of him playing When The Levee Breaks with Deborah Bonham's band. It follows the original and his harmonica playing is amazing!!! I would really like to hear him talk about Jim Morrison a bit more. I think he was a fan. I know him and Jimmy were disappointed at one show seeing him ...but I still would like to hear more. Also about Janis Joplin ..Jimi Hendrix....other 60's and 70's musical acts. Robert is a walking encyclopedia and getting his perspective and stories would be very historic.

Not being familiar with any of the music from Band of Joy, I was instantly grabbed at the Solar Plexis and taken on a journey upwards right from the beginning of this track. The smell of patchouli, Sandlewood and Rose flooded my mind and there she was, that vision of a woman dancing in the green flame, it took me straight to "Anemone - Brian Jonestown Massacre" wow........As Robert says the melody is completely seductive. Incidentally......."Anemone flowers are wildflowers that grow in many parts of Europe, North America and Japan. The name anemone is derived from Greek which means “windflower.” The name comes from the fact that the delicate flowers are blown open by the wind, which in turn blows away the dead petals as well. According to Greek mythology, anemones sprang out of the tears of Aphrodite while she was mourning the death of her lover, Adonis. Adonis was killed by the gods due to their jealousy over his love affair with the beautiful goddess of love." In my earlier years It was always about the music, the sound of how something made you feel but as I got a little older the lyrics became more important. When you bring the two together it potentially becomes a transforming power all of its own. I agree with Mat Everette, that lyrics take on a different meaning depending on your own experience in life, and they can also twist and change depending on your situation at the time..they are a vehicle for self expression and that's what I love most about music. It can in still pictures in your mind, bring up and help you move through emotions and shift you into another place completely, it can be a highly effective healing process and move you forward in life bringing new life like a fern breaking through the surface of the earth and beginning its journey to the light through its own spiral unfolding. This is also the first time I have heard about the band Low and the track Monkey. I am always curious about lyrics and not before long saw the connection of mind and the Ego. For me this song is about loss of Ego and the search for ones own Soul. The 'little white lie' our own Ego tells us and and the attempt 'like a radio turning way down low' (the monkey mind) to get to the source of our core self through the power of stillness, silence and reflective meditation. In my experience, ideally obtained whilst out in Nature. Its an honest attempt to break free of Ego and reach its 'Self', 'tonight you will be mine, tonight the Monkey dies' 'Telling me things I do not know, I know' (The ego recognises things it does not know, but deep down the Soul always knows) When we are ready to really ask ourselves the Truth, we discover we already know the Truth. 'Its a suicide, (Death of ones Ego) shut up and drive' (Soul taking control and moving the person to another level of awareness and consciousness) The Soul demanding complete surrender and surpassing the Ego to reveal the hidden Spiritual Truths. Its an attempt to reach the Spiritual enlightenment that most mortals never attain. (we're never gonna meet the light but that's alright) In the Band of Joy version of Monkey Robert and Patties voices complement each other beautifully. The song asks that you take your time with it like the soul, the sounds move through and around you, it slows you down like a walk in the mist on a mountain top, it gently falls around your shoulders like a loose fitting soft, silken garment, and requires that you hold its intention before its ready to fall away silently and ground itself within your being. Sound (music) is one of the 3 principal building blocks of the Universe, the other 2 being Light and Vibration and are the very fabric of life. Music that is played and the songs that are sung are therefore vehicles for life expressing itself, all of it in perfect time and perfect place in the great scheme of things, the sheer Beauty and Mystery of Life. Its moves through all the spaces, (nothing) the in between places that exist out there and in here, inside of us. It connects us to our world and to each other for the brief moment in time we exist. We come from nothing and return to nothing until we are reborn again. Love is the only Law..........

I just have one question for you Robert, what does the Zoso symbol mean on your album cover? So many have tried to decipher it and failed. Could you tell the definition. Thank-you so very much. Would love that chat with you over a cup of tea.

Funny you should ask that. That was Jimmy's symbol. He was asked that in an interview years ago; and, said he asked Jimmy. Jimmy said OK, I'll tell you; but, only once! Robert forgot & Jimmy would never tell him again!

REALLY ENJOY YOUR PODCAST ROBERT, BUT I AM DYING TO HEAR THE STORY BEHIND "ACHILLES LAST STAND"!!! SUCH A POWERFUL SONG WITH JOHN JUST RIPPING IT ON DRUMS, AND THE REST OF THE BAND NO LESS GREAT!!! IF I CAN ONLY LISTEN TO ONE LED ZEP SONG IT WOULD BE MY HARD CHOSE!!! BACK TO THE BASICS ALBUM TYPE THING!!! TELL IT LIKE IT IS ON THAT SONG BROTHER!!! I DON'T SAY A LOT THESE DAYS, BUT PERHAPS YOU CAN BE A FELLER TO BRING ME 'INTO THE LIGHT"....LOL!!! LOVED THAT ONE ALSO!!! I WAS 7 IN 69. PEACE BE WITH YOU ALWAYS!!!
There needs to be a Percey & Sam affiliation... Plant the flag and create a Pocostomus variety of fresh sounds. Verbal math don't you know... It would be fun!

These last couple of episodes he seems so bored with all this, they're so short and when it's all said and done you don't really get a ton of information. speaking of rambling on, that's been a couple of his answers lol... Also, I like how they make it seem like the podcast was the original idea and that just happened to inspire a box set. That's definitely dishonest, you know that the box set was the idea and this is all basically just an advertisement for it
