I don't know the exact specs on the heat guns our techs use, but it's just a standard heat gun purchased at a hardware store. If you don't have one of those, you can even use a hair dryer. The hair dryer would need an extra couple of seconds to heat the adhesive, but works just as well. The screen comes as a complete assembly with the digitizer and lcd. They are all fused together, so you have to replace the assembly.

Terrific. Thanks for the detailed video. I have replaced screen of an ipod and headphones that were washed through a full 1:45 min machine cycle. Dried it out in a bag of rice in the sunshine for a few days and it connected and switched on but blank screen. I got a new screen and replaced it with the help of this video and it is now as good as new :-)

The metal plate acts as a blocker for heat, the little nano gets really hot being in such a small package. It will also protect anything from bridging or shorting out connections when pressing hard on the screen. But, if you are absolutely unable to get a metal plate, you can very carefully use strips of electrical tape to cover up any connections. Your screen may be more dim than normal, but it will work. If it were me, I would hold out until the metal plate comes in.

We don't have any videos on just the tape. Some of the iPad videos do show the different uses for the tape, and typically, it's just cut with an exacto knife.

@SoStuckUp12 We have found that it is not possible to replace only one of the screens, though you may find that advertised online or elsewhere. There are machines and guides that align the Glass, Digitizer and LCD screens properly in a dust free environment, which is impossible to replicate at a cost effective level. So if you were to separate your display assembly without damaging it, you would still need to align the parts as precisely as they were from the factory in a dust free environment.

I was wondering that if you were to use the krazy glue and then you broke your screen again, would you be able to heat it up and fix it again? or should I use something less strong if I have that worry?
@DigiExpress11 жыл бұрын
First thing to check would be your connection. Make sure that your screen is tightly connected to the main board. If there's a piece a little loose, it could cause a loss in brightness. If it is tightly secured, try to reset the device. If that doesn't work, there is a chance that the part may be defective, which can only be determined once it is installed and the device is powered on.
@DigiExpress13 жыл бұрын
@yerrys1313 The glue was Krazy Glue color changing (goes on purple, dries clear) with a brush applicator. Though it is an expensive glue and you need very little of it, so general substitutions should be okay.
@DigiExpress12 жыл бұрын
It sounds like that would be the case, but technically, when you use a heat gun or blow dryer, your heating the adhesive so that you can work with it. There is also new double-sided tape from 3M created strictly for theses devices that we have switched over to and began using.

The glue will harden and it will make it difficult to have to replace the screen assembly again. Mainly the "chunks" of hardened glue will need to be cleaned with a tool. Like a screw driver or spudger, as much as possible that is. Then you can to another repair on the device if necessary. Generally we try to avoid liquid glue if at all possible, but on this device it is almost a necessity.

Try doing a hard reset on the device. Hold the power button and the home button down at the same time. Continue holding. The device will shut off. Don't let go until the Apple logo appears. Once it does, then release the buttons. Sometimes the device just needs to have this process performed to recognize the new parts.

@castorlestrado People usually sit on the iPod. If not that, then the iPod is attached to a pocket and the wearer falls or runs into something. It is pretty hard to crack this little iPod screen, but believe us people are doing it. Thanks for the comments!

Hello again. I've done the hard reset for nano quite a few times now, and still no success in fixing the touchinput. I've also resynched it on my pc, so it has to be a bad part or the connectors ?

Are you also able to fix the power/home/skip track button on the nano 6th generation? Mine is stuck. Have no idea HOW it got like that. Tried to press it and it just went in.
@DigiExpress11 жыл бұрын
That's a difficult question. When moving all parts to a new case, a number of things could have happened. You could have damaged a cable. You could have damaged the main board. It's just so hard to tell. One of our senior techs said to try the old case and make sure that all connections are secure and tight. If the device is still acting up, then it is either a cable or the main board. If you get power, than it's most likely the main board that was damaged.

Hey, can You maybe help me ? My iPod had the infamous powerbutton-problem which I repaired and got a new screen+digitizer. The problem is that after I repaired the button, and put the new screen and digitizer back, the touch-screen is not working? Someone had the same problem online after they replaced their battery that the screen is not accepting touch input, but there were no answers to his post. The connectors should be sitting tight, is it just a bad part? Thank You :)

If that's the case, then it sounds like the part is defective. Did you purchase the part through our website or through another company?

i have followed all instruction to the "T" and the display screen will not open? i can hook it up to a port or a cable and works fine. before i took it apart everything worked even with the broken screen. i looked it up on google and youtube and the closest explanation i could get was that the battery is shot. but it worked before i repaired it. any idea what else it could be?

DigiExpress, or somebody, have you an idea of the temperature I should put on the screen? My heat gun has the possibility to choose the temperature to work, so I would like to know it and the time that you suggest to remove the screen. Thanks.

i could do it with my hair dryer, so the temperature has not to be very high

I opened my ipod up to fix a jammed button and now the screen (which is not cracked) won't work at all even when I close it up again. I only managed to take it apart that much because I don't have a screwdriver small enough to remove the screws. Did something come lose behind the metal shield or what?
@DigiExpress11 жыл бұрын
If the hard reset hasn't worked, and syncing hasn't worked, then it would narrow it down to either a bad part or a main board issue. If you ordered the part from us, contact customer service and they will send a new one out to you free of charge. If not, see if the place you bought it from will replace it. If that doesn't work, then it would be a main board issue. Our company won't repair the boards because it costs more than the device is worth. But try the new part first.

The Nano 6 has a screen consisting of Glass, Digitizer, LCD. They are all fused together from the supplier and cannot be replaced separately. There is no way to take your broken screen and separate any of the parts to re-use them. Be careful of any sites trying to sell you ONLY the "glass" or "digitizer".
@DigiExpress12 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I recommend going to digiexpress.us and finding your device. Once there, you can select the repair/diagnosis option and add it to the cart, just like you're buying anything else online. It's $25. Once you purchase that, you will be able to print out the information and ship it in. If parts are needed, you will be notified. But it doesn't sound like that is the case. If you would rather speak with a rep, call 800-440-4693.
