Great reaction. This song was more of a humble brag given he had been away from the singing game for sometime (where other artists "took his place"). The song was him saying, "don't forget about me." He has continually pushed the boundaries of Punjabi music in Punjab. Regarding the movies, Punjab 1984 is one of the best movies of the last decade, but you need to read up on the Sikh genocide of 1984 (or anti-sikh riots). Good to hear perspectives from both sides. If you want a less heavy (or politically charged) film, then Qismat, Lahoriye, Surkhi Bindi, Angrej, and Ambarsariya are all great films to watch.

Guys, the context for such content is really important. The aura and image of Diljit and artists like him is basically the Rags to Riches theme. As has been reported by several interviewers, he used to live in a village in Punjab and from there he has gone on to appear on the front page of Vogue, and several other achievements. Plus, again as you said, it gets really difficult for a turban man to achieve success in the world of glamour and has he broken many glass-ceilings like that. So yeah. Context is important for such stuff. However, I do agree with Rick when he says that he can't appreciate content where it's about "I have got more money, cars, etc." But yes, in defense, the theme is Rags to Riches.
