Paul Riario is a class act with great chops and vibrato.I enjoy watching him play very much.And these pickups sounds really great.

I like how Paul gets to the point, these pickups sound like vintage Gibby HBs all the way. Tone heaven.

People who say this sounds too thin know jack shit about PAF / vintage pickups (and why they are great if you can handle them). Go get your Ultradestroyer Doom Pickups and have fun. Peace! :-)

These are incredible pickups that sound exactly like what he is displaying on this vid. I installed a set in my friends LP Standard and it was amazing. I just ordered a set for my 2015 LP Tribute.

Hey Paul, your choice of riffs, and the way you demo gear lately, is a huge improvement over reviews you did a few years back. Great job, it's enjoyable to watch you put different gear through their paces!

Dimarzio PAF Master bridge is truly the best vintage voiced pickup I've tried so far in my Gibson Les Paul. Low output and great dynamics with punch and clarity of the good rock 'n roll pickup!! Thanks Dimarzio!

I think they are making these with AL-4 now. Which to my ear would clean up the ice pick on the bridge with the AL-5's.

36th Anniversary neck vs. PAF Master neck: which would pair better with a 498T bridge? Or would something else pair better? I just don't care for the 490R I have in my '98 Les Paul Standard at all.

Not sure that the high gain part of the demo was well-suited to the vintage voiced pickups. At least it is better than some drop tuning and AxeFX

I'd like to know if those are 500k or 250k pots. I'm looking for a PAF sound for my neck pickup and I want them to sound fat, so I don't know if my 500k pot won't get me that sound. What pot would be best for a fat neck sound with humbuckers?
@DiedrichKnickerbocker17838 жыл бұрын
Raising or lowering the value of the volume pot doesn't fatten a pickup up. I'm not a tech so take what I with grain of salt. To my ears changing the volume pot increase or decreases brightness / edge.
@palopo-t3v8 жыл бұрын
John Hardin Yeah, I'm starting to think a 24 fret will never get me the fat sound that I had with my 22 fret guitar.

They sound very bright, to the point of being ice-picky. I guess some people like that. I suppose some of those early PAF's were low output and very bright.
@Wesquire5 жыл бұрын
That is what the tone knob is for. The bridge pickup will generally be too ice picky with tone at 10.

I didn't expect such strong pick attack and harsh tone from A4 magnet. Maybe they should have gone for a softer A2 magnet like the G***** classics.

Paul sounds great here and does these pickups justice. A word of advice from experience: try the PAF Master Bridge model in the NECK position with a hotter bridge PAF-esque pickup (I used a Duncan '59/Custom Hybrid). They pair wonderfully and BOY does that DiMarzio kill it for clean tones.
