i had to read a comment from one of the other videos to understand this, and it makes sense, hes not telling you to not smell flowers or anything, the first part where its calm i shim actually stating tons of stuff people just tell you, and you tell yourself, that controls your mind, thats why the big secodn part where the heavy music kicks in is him saying, IM THE DANGER, hes sayign that him (the thoughts in your brain) are the real danger, not the strangers, hwo are you spost to live you rlife if you never talk to them, or if you never lets say "smell the flowers"

I always took the meaning of these lyrics to be a cautionary tale against things that might look and seem appealing and enticing but might be harmful or dangerous instead. When we are children our parents teach us not to talk to strangers even if they seem nice and may be offering us a toy or some candy. This doesn't really change as an adult, especially for someone famous or perceived to have wealth. There are many pit traps and people looking to take advantage. Smelling the flower could be a kind of drug like opium from the poppy that pollutes your mind and makes you hallucinate, be delusional or just alter or diminish your ability to reason and think rationally.. A flower is also often used as a metaphor for a woman. The flower has beauty and attracts you to smell and touch it like a bee, the same for a man with a woman. For all the reasons mentioned above, especially for a married man, who is the star of a touring rock band and may be struggling to stay faithful when every night there are a multitude of options easily and readily available to you. The writer may already have had previous experience with how these women in the end will only bring you down. These things in combination while tempting and pleasurable eventually end up bad. Honestly, I think he would often just start with an idea and then play with word rhymes often in the form of riddles or opposing, contradictory statements to make you stop and think about the intended meaning. Dio liked to be mystical and intriguing and you find that all throughout his song writing. In the end, regardless of the original intent, it's up to the interpretation of the listener. Trying to figure out the meaning was almost as fun as listening to them. 😜🤘

The "Evil woman.. look out tonight.. I send thee away... beware...! " Vibe is kind of strong on some of these deal records. I'm sure a lot of it is metaphor, but it's still a awful good time. You guys have turned into such metalheads it's phenomenal. Cheers."

Great track from a classic album. Not sure if you already reacted to, "Straight through the Heart" but that may be a good follow up.

I love Lex. Her perception is so amazing. And Brad is a great partner..He gets such a kick out of Lex. Keep up with the metal please... Maybe could you try King Crimson, "Epitaph" ,or In This Moment- "Whore". Thanks again, love what you guys do.❤

Just my opinion....RJD not only had one of the most powerful and unique voices in Rock music. But he also was a great poetic lyricist. Whenever I bought one of his albums, I always hoped that it would have the lyrics to the songs included, so that I could actually read his poetry, before listening to it with the music.
