Since you like Dio and Black Sabbath, stands to reason you should listen to a song where Dio sings for Black Sabbath (he replaced Ozzy Osbourne for a while). A good choice for a first Dio song, though his performance on his signature song, “Rainbow in the Dark” is probably more standout because he spends more time in the upper registers. In case you guys didn’t look it up, the band’s namesake is from lead singer Ronnie James Dio, who went solo after a short time replacing Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath. Another great Dio song to check out would be “Rock and Roll Children” or maybe “Last In Line” - both great tracks.

A couple of fun things about that song: 1. That album is actually considered one of the best produced metal albums. What you guys heard is the original from 1983. It STILL holds up! 2. The chord progression in Holy Diver and Eye of the Tiger are extremely similar. My band used to cover Holy Diver and it was really easy to switch from that to Eye of the Tiger because they're both in the same key. Great video! If you want another song with Ronnie James Dio, check out Stargazer from Rainbow. The vocals will blow your mind!

That was VERY early in the days of MTV video production, AND it was Dio's first solo album, which was somewhat of a gamble, as no one knew whether they would be successful or not. When you take those factors into consideration, what you were left with was a cheaply produced, cheesy video with bad acting, directing and editing. The song quality more than makes up for the sub par video.

Anything with Dio on vocals is pretty legit. Rainbow’s Man on the Silver Mountain is one of my favorite Ronnie James Dio songs. Black Sabbath’s Heaven and Hell album is classic! Props for this one

I am 52 years old. Much to my parent's chagrin, I listened to Dio throughout my 1980s high School career. I got such a kick out of watching these two young men head banging to this song. My teenage daughter laughs at me and calls me an old fogie when I rock out to Dio while washing dishes. Thank you guys for being so cool!
@ColdLights6 жыл бұрын
Dio is one of the godfather’s of heavy metal. Admittedly, I️ know there are a lot of metal heads (especially younger ones) that don’t really appreciate the influence that Dio had. By today’s standards, the old school stuff can sound a bit dated, but the modern bands wouldn’t exist at all without Dio. Hell, we have him to credit for the horns hand gesture. I️ also think that the more things change, the more they stay the same. In an over-saturated world of sameness in modern metal, going back to the real stuff that started it all never disappoints. Glad you guys dug this, it’s a fucking classic!

I got to say yes, you guys have to do "Stargazer". The drums by Cozie are great, the guitar solo will by Richie "fucking" Blackmoore will blow your mind. It's one of the best solos EVER, if not the best, and I think RJDs best vocal/lyrical work ever. The song is epic and a true masterpiece. I've listened to the song hundreds of times and it still makes the hair on my arms stand up. I know you guys will love this song. The fucking song changed my life man. Please do it guys you won't regret it. Its on the album "Rising".

Digitally Remastered means one thing guys. All the engineers do is turn up the volume. I am a metalhead from the late 70's to the early 90's. Not remastered just excellent vinyl.
@SepticFuddy4 жыл бұрын
Depends on the remaster. Some are done properly, some are not. Sometimes they stay faithful to the intended dynamics and layering of the track, sometimes they compress the track and crank up the gain like with modern tracks, making it sound like messy shit. But technically, any digitization of an originally vinyl record is a "digital remaster", no matter how lazily it was done. Since a lot of early CD releases of vinyl records were just cranked out cash grabs, a lot of early ones were poorly done, and probably what these two are complaining about regarding volume. On the other hand, some of the newer remasters apply that compression that ruins it. Just have to listen to find out

Dio had a magnificent voice. May he RIP! Check out his vocals on Rainbow's song Stargazer. Stargazer was the first time the Arabic scale had ever been played on a Fender Stratocaster through a stack of Marshall amplifiers. Also, his vocals on Black Sabbath's album Heaven and Hell. Really any song will do, just pick one. Seriously! It's an iconic album.

You want to check out another song by Dio - The Last In Line. You should also check out Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath. It is sung by this same singer - Ronnie James Dio. He replaced Ozzy Ozbourne for an album or two. By the way, this song was not remastered. It's just that clear. I've been a fan of this album since it came out. Ronnie James Dio had the money to use high quality recording studios, having been in Black Sabbath and Rainbow before that.

You should listen to HELLOWEEN - I WANT OUT This band has influenced by Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, people call them "Iron Maiden on metamphetamines" and they had one of the best Heavy Metal singers of all time, Michael Kiske knowing as "lungs of gold" for his incredible voice. They also create the Metal Genre called "Power Metal". I think this band is very important but it's sad that their classic line-up had broken away very early.
