When I first became a Christian in the mid 80's, a new brother turned me on to a bunch of great Christian Rock & Metal, including Kerry Livgren's album Seeds Of Change. I love almost all of the songs on it. You should also check out the other song with Dio (pronounced Deeo) on vocals, called Mask Of The Great Deceiver. It has a different feel to it than Live For The King, but also awesome song. Also singing on the album are Steve Walsh (Kansas), David Pack (Ambrosia), and Mylon Lefevre (Mylon & Broken Heart). Each singer's voice has a unique sound, giving the album (almost) a compilation feel, except Kerry's songwriting is the thread that connects them all.

Dio did 2 songs with Livgren. The other song is Mask Of The Great Deceiver. Jethro Tull drummer Barrymore Barlow played on some of that Livgren album.

Oh thank you! Thank you! Thank You! (even before I listen to your reaction) for getting into some of the more off-the-beaten-path music, especially that which is considered Christian music. I'm late 50's now and have been listening to this stuff (along with the R&R & C&W) since I was an early teen. Kerry Livgren's post Kansas work is simply loaded with some wonderful gems to discover, this being one of those. Again, thanks bro

You probably listened to Larry Norman, Randy Stonehill, Barry McGuire, Second Chapter of Acts, etc. One of my favorites was Keith Green, who I saw in a little church in Santa Cruz. Phil Keaggy was/is awesome too!

I like this too... I think this one has a dark background for a King of Kings song... But for some reason I found myself half way thru, "feeling it"... Being we're living in end times, I can see myself driving with the windows down and blasting it! Don't know why...

I was so excited when Dio joined Kerry Livgren on this project. I grew up with this song and this whole album was very important to me in my formative years. It stands as one of my top ten most important albums so far in my life. It has an apocalyptic feel to it and I highly encourage the listening while driving at night on a great set of speakers. Btw, David Pack sings on several tracks as well and the whole thing will blow you away. Don’t overlook this one.

This is incredible....look up the Jay Sekulow (Trump's attorney) band "Hold your Head up"! This band is a super group of John Schlitt of Headeast and Petra. John Elefante 2nd lead singer for Kansas and Jay....they are incredible!!!

You should listen to Kerry Livgren’s new album “The Resurrection of Lazarus”. Kerry spent almost two decades putting this together and it is amazing. I first heard this song in 1985 as a teen. I was a big Kansas fan and the youth pastor played this for us.

It's a song I forgot about and recently found again, thought I'd share. Figured you'd like it because it has a trippy feeling and the vocals just adds to the experience. Plus, Livgren seems to never be mentioned with great musicians but he really was a creative genius. Much of Kansas great songs were his creations and when he went his own way, he brought that creativeness with him and made some pretty good music. This is one of the deeper cuts. Livgren's band A.D. released several great albums. Art Of The State is epic stuff. You should definitely check that out as there are some prophetic songs on there. "Progress" "The Fury" "The Last Frontier" Even if you don't de a reaction to them, check them out on youtube.

Please check out The Jelly Jam album called Prophet (Profit) Ty Tabor is lead singer guitarist (formerly with Kings X) John Myung is bassist (Dream Theatre) and Rod Morganstein is drums (Dixie Dregs). Check out the title song "Prophet" first. They are all good tracks. Incredibly talented 3 man band. I'm a huge Rush fan, too. Greatest 3 man band ever! Check out the song Xanadoo from Rush "Live" back in the 70s. Will Blow.Your.Mind! Thanks for your reviews and bold witness. Love it Brother. the wild part -- kerry wrote the lyrics about Jesus, but he didn't tell ronnie until after the recording was finished. dio interpreted it as a "shield & spear" tale of a benevolent medieval king, but his ad libs fit kerry's original intent perfectly

@@jalkabre5904 i checked it out! I liked the music a bunch, & I am Familiar with Rainbow from my ex, whom loves Dio.. just not for me. This music sounded like a carbon copy of Hendrix-Hey Joe.. same riff or super similar. I have lots of respect for Dio, i really do. Just not for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@caralayne503 People have said that "Catch the Rainbow" sounds like Jimi's "Little Wing", I guess I see that more than "Hey Joe" and "Rainbow Eyes". I know Ritchie was a fan of Hendrix.
