Two people gave this the thumbs-down? They sure as hell will never get to Heaven! Seriously...It's hard to think of anyone who better embodied what American music was, could be and could have been than Dionne did. She isn't just an artist who does pop or a popular artist: She is a singer, in the purest sense of the word--more or less what the French mean when they refer to someone as a "chantuese".
@mcbrion19516 жыл бұрын

The last cheekbones in the world!!! People forget how wonderful a pop singer she was and instead make fun of her eccentric behavior. I was a kid when she had all those early Bacharach and David hits, I used to play them over and over and sing along--everyone a vocal gem and great pop tune!

MARIE DIONNE WARRICK (Stage Name: Dionne Warwick): Satin voice, sheer elegance and pure class. She won me over totally with this classic single. Dionne made Hal David and Burt Bacharach famous as a songwriting team. Although, the Stylistics covered this beautiful song years later, I still love Dionne's version more. I was eleven years old when her version was released. "You'll Never Get to Heaven (If You Break My Heart)" and also "Walk On By" appeared on Dionne's third LP release entitled MAKE WAY FOR DIONNE WARWICK (Scepter SRM/SPS-523). I still have this classic LP. Despite her unmistakable over bite and facial peach fuzz hormone over the top lip, I thought Dionne Warwick was a beautiful and bubbly Brown Sugar...STILL DO!!! Anyone who doesn't consider Miss Warwick as one of the best of the best in the history of POP and RHYTHM AND BLUES music, doesn't have any taste in this art, PERIOD!!! The proof is in the pudding.
