I really do hope that Perty did not became a Daemon Prince, but instead kept upgrading his armor to stem the soul leak for ten thousand years. Having Perturabo as the only Traitor Primarch who refused to ascend would fit his character so well. But yeah. We need more Abaddon writing such as this. B)

Sorry to nitpick, but Konrad didn't accept truly accept chaos, he and his legion despised chaos and only used it to their own ends. Again, not to take anything from Perty, Konrad is gone and as far as we know... Perturabo is the last traitor Primarch who can genuinely threaten the galaxy without any hand-holding from Chaos

The best evidence we have about Abaddon's extraordinary abilities (imo) as leader and diplomat comes from Chris Wraight's "Lord of Silence" when the 13th Black Crusade is mustering within the Eye, and all the 9 Legions come to his banner; "This is the Despoiler’s gift to the Eye’s realm. There are feuds and there are hatreds, but there is no greater feud than the one he perpetuates, and no greater hatred. He has bound them, impossibly, into common cause. I see Abaddon as a charismatic politician, one with a well documented military record. No matter how much he preaches about brotherhood, he will always see everyone as a resource to be spent. Frankly, I doubt that he has a real plan for after his conquest of the galaxy.

Abaddon has a monumental task in front of himself: theoretically he could win IF chaos followed him as one. Unfortunately that is completely antithetical to the very nature of chaos so he needs to cajole, blandish and sometimes force the other legions to cooperate. In the end it never lasts for long but at least that way he can make some progress

The guy so cunning and powerful the writers had to retcon his 13 defeats into secret victories, had to throw a blackstone fortress at Cadia after he failed to take it with his forces, and has such strong plot armor the Chaos gods literally just magically teleport him away to prevent him from getting killed. The writers can keep telling us what a transcendent badass he is all they want, but this shit speaks for itself. If he's like Horus, does that mean Perturabo is going to hard carry him too?

Abaddon dont get the respect hes due thats a fact, i remember one passage in one novel, (wish i remembered the specifics) he hated when horus started working with demons, and when he was introduced to one particular demon he could sense it trying to dominate his will and make him kneel before him....and he would not do it, and to this day he has not aligned with any particular god, he maintains his autonomy. Takes an iron will.

The Black Legion novel series is at least in part told from the perspective of Iskandar Khayon, who I would argue is the most unreliable narrator and biggest Gary Stu in a universe full of unreliable narrators and Gary Stus. He claims that he forced Magnus the Red to kneel. Yes, a regular Astartes claims that he defeated his own Primarch in a contest of wills. Magnus has deleted errant Thousand Sons sorcerers from existence before; after Ahriman cast the Rubric, he described Magnus' coming for him with a fatalism that left no doubt about his expectations for the conflict... and Ahriman is the strongest sorcerer in the galaxy who is neither Primarch nor Daemon. The idea that Khayon could have defeated Magnus and forced him to kneel is laughable in the extreme. So what must our conclusion be? He's full of it. He is, after all, talking to an Inquisitorial agent while he is narrating the story. I would take anything in that book with a grain of salt the size of the Phalanx.
