The fact this song, One World, The Man's Too Strong and Brothers In Arms are all on one album speaks to the man's humanity beside showcasing his virtuosity.

Whenever I listen to this song, in my head I see mercenary soldiers, paid assassins essentially, stealthily working their way through a jungle. Mark's song-writing and story telling is outstanding!

Hello, Mark is a complete artist like few others, from his almost unique technique for playing the guitar, how he sings, how he writes and the naturalness and simplicity with which he shows himself live really makes him unique. On that tour in which they passed through Sydney, they broke audience records in that city that lasted until very recently. Don't forget to review Knopfler's prolific career, his collaborations with countless artists, his early DS and his current work, One Deep River is his last work and beautiful little gems continue to appear. Thank you as always for the genuine reaction and for keeping MK present.

Greetings from Down Under once again! 🇦🇺 Thank you for reacting to my request, much appreciated. What a wonderful reaction to an often overlooked track. You explained it perfectly, MK's lyrical ability to capture the listener and his stage presence with the guitar, in this case a beautiful, uniquely sounding R-custom, hand made by John Suhr (though not a trade mark Pensa Suhr) to capture the audience. A stunning performance once again! Thank you. 🇦🇺🇦🇩

So glad you were able to react to this song! Absolutely love this performance - what an amazing way to open a concert. Mark always seemed to arrange a very atmospheric piece to set the tone for a concert. Very hypnotic back and forth between all the instruments, especially Mark's guitar and Chris White's flute.

One of the many fascinating things of Mark is that there are so many different kinds of songs. Long ones, shorter ones, different styles. There you seee that he’s interested in making music and not writing a hit and do copy and paste to get anther one. When Dire Straits started to be successful the kind of music they made wasn’t "top of the rocks", there was punk and many other things. But it seems that - at the end - quality will last for a long time, that’s why you react to dire straits 40 years after their concerts - this music will also be heard in another 40 years!

Some bands that are old and familiar fade away from a play list, not Dire Straits. I appeciate Mark Knopfler more, not less. An amazing musician, first class. As I came of age with the Beatles, that covers a whole lot of ground.

Fantastic performance from Dire Straits, everyone on this was in top form and Mark's guitar tone was amazing. I would definitely suggest reading his lyrics before reacting, especially for live songs as because of the way he sings, you can't understand them clearly, his lyrics are as important as his guitar playing.
