That Pensa tone is all about emotions.💔💔💔💔💔. That deep tone touches and crushes your soul very badly. Knopfler is a phenomenon. He knows, the crowd knows that this would be soul stirring masterclass..

For fun he has the Strat. For romance he has (this one) the Pensa. For drama he has the Les Paul and for story telling the resonator. So many voices from one man.

Your interesting reactions prove that great music never dies. I've enjoyed listening to Dire Straits all my adult life (I'm 73), but I appreciate them more as I get older. I love your reactions which are always perceptive and humourous. Sensitive people always appreciate sensitive artists.

The guitar here is Pensa MK1 (Mark Knopfler 1). Mark was "a bit tired of all the guitar changes for every song". Mark asked his old friend Rudy Pensa to design a guitar, that sounds like Gibson and Stratocaster combined, with Strat's usability. It was designed on a napkin in a NYC coffee shop. Still available Made-to-Order now for order with several years waiting list.

This is one of my all time favourite Dire Straits songs.. from the absolutely brilliant "On Every Street" album..this is a very underrated song since it's not played as much as the band's other more popular numbers..this song matches the atmosphere and mood of the album: more personal, deep and inward looking..the singing and guitars are exquisite as always, the duet with the Pedal steel guitar is out of the world..the crescendo at the end takes you to another planet.. Thanks for reviewing this song..my personal suggestion would be for a reaction to the title song of this very album: "On Every Street"..and you can also check out a few of his brilliant solo numbers like "What it is", "Sailing to Philadelphia" and ofcourse "Book like That".

Aaaaaw Dominica, a girl after my own heart, I’ve always found Mark, his singing guitar and his gorgeous voice incredibly sexy. I think a lot of false hope was taken from a recent photo of Mark and David G together. I believe the photo was taken by David’s wife when David was recording at Mark’s British Grove Studios, but never heard of any collaboration plans. But what do I know, just saying.

Couldn’t wait for you to do this one!! It’s the layers of guitar that me it special and the progression of the chords. I always interpreted this as about a man who finds his partner has been unfaithful and this is him confronting her. Check out ‘Where do you think you’re going’ if you can 🙂

also, the fact that You and Your Friend is preceded immediately by "When it Comes to You," [Album "On Every Street"] which is about a relationship falling apart in which Mark is at the receiving end of the bitterness, only reinforced the idea that You and Your Friend was about blatant two-timing....or perhaps, the destructive influence of another party (the "friend") on his loved one.

Mark Knopfler is left-handed, but plays a standard guitar, so he forms the chords with his strongest hand.

Hello, my favourite reactioneers. I am just texting to annoy and plead with you to not forget to attend to all of the great DS songs. So far you left out "Where do you think you are going" (The Rockpalast version is great cause Mark is so young still), "Espresso Love" (Alchemy), "Love over Gold" (there is an Alchemy version that is a bit of a collage but worth watching), "Why worry", "So far away" and maybe some that I cannot think of at the moment. Thanks and greetings to Romania

I know a lot of people think this song is about a 3some, but this never occurred to me at all the first time I heard it. I heard the CD version first, and the way Mark made his guitar cry, and I do mean really CRY in the solo, made me think this song was more about a loved one two-timing him, and 2-timing quite blatantly; and the song was about the death of the love he had with this loved one. Anyway, that's my take; but, as I say, I heard the studio version first on which Mark induces the crying sound out of the instrument more lucidly than on this live version.

Lovely reaction❤ One of my favourite songs by them. You definitely should check out Neverland (live '09) by Marillion now ❣️❣️❣️ please 🙏. If you like DS and PF, you sure love Marillion!! Steve Rothery, the 🎸player, is often compared to David Gilmour (PF), so then you know he is good and also delivers emotional solos. But I must warn you: once you've fallen in love with this band, there's no turning back...
