Now ppl can maybe see why he has always seemed so "cold" it wasn't that at all it was him being trapped in his trauma it breaks my heart but he isn't anymore ..it's clear by the lightness of him & the smile in his face this last year or so that he is/has processed this all but it is still heartbreaking 💔 I love these 7 boys sooooo damn much 😭💜😭💜😭💜😭

Exactly this. It's heartbreaking and really difficult to watch this MV knowing it is his story, but also... he shared it with us because this is something of the past that he had overcome. I feel so proud of Yoongi, as an artist and as a person, for going through so much in his life and coming out of this victorious. His art always feels so cathartic to me. It makes me emotional a lot of times but it also gives me sense of comfort, knowing I'm not the only one struggling. And it IS possible to get through it. I’m a Psychology Prof in UK, proud & thankful for this MV. Smile as it proves he’s at peace with his past & able to share it, as it was. All whom maybe struggling, let this motivate you to get help, this is proof you’ll heal too. He’s not just done this for himself or to let Army in. He’s sending & raising awareness on mental health - Don’t Suffer In Silence! I’m livid as this MV does not require a, ‘trigger warning’. It even got me teary eyed watching - he used vulnerability to help save lives, in hope mental health isn’t a taboo subject especially in Asia!🇰🇷has the highest suicide & mental health % globally for the last 8 year’s & 87% young men finish military services with PTSD!🇰🇷Gov refuse any advice from foreign countries who offer help. 1 death is 1 death too many. When you see your family & friends when you say Hello, how are you? Also say, “If you ever need to talk you can talk to me, your not alone.” Make it a normal talking point. Stay blessed all🙏💜🧿

The amygdala is a small, almond shaped part of the brain that is responsible for anger, emotional pain, trauma and depression, right? In the last season of In the Soop, we see Namjoon and Yoongi reading a book called Almond, which discusses the amygdala and its effects on mental health, and then, in the Amygdala MV, we see green-hoodie Yoongi munching on almonds, and later, when we see handfuls of pills flash on the screen, they flash to a handful of almonds. Yoongi is so cool.

I read a comment somewhere (Twitter?) and the poster said Yoongi is showing us this cycle of trying to heal ourselves from trauma and trying to keep ourselves from repeating the mistakes of the past. In Haegum the newest Agust D doesn't have a scar, which means at some point he dodged a blow he had never been able to dodge (learn from) before. It was shocking to realize the scar was self inflicted in this video but it makes perfect sense. Moving through our anger and depression, learning from our mistakes, letting go, and finding peace are all beautifully represented here. (No one has mentioned the Yoongi eating almonds (in the green sweatshirt at the beginning) and watching this process unfold in his head but I take it to mean (personal opinion) he can now review these traumas with some peace and accept that he's become the man he is because of it, not in spite of it.) I had the same reaction you did and have to watch this with some caution but it was brilliantly done and I thank him for sharing the raw process of his healing with us. Thanks Roscoe. 💜

@@donitapolk9413 I think yeah watching himself, but also there is a korean book him, Namjoon and I think Jin also have been seen reading during quarantine, Almond is the name. I don't have the courage to read it, but in there the main character has a small amygdala developed and is said not to feel emotions and trying to navigate that and his mom made him as small eat almonds, because the amygdala is almond shaped, in hopes of his enlarging. (correct me anyone if I'm wrong) So I think it also shows him trying to feel something, as with depression usually the apathy that comes, makes one feel like one is stopping to have emotions and it's just so desperate not to be in such limbo.

I don’t remember where I read it - maybe it was Yoongi himself? But they mentioned the philosophy of stoicism and how this song and video reflect it. Specifically, the stoic idea of healing oneself by taking a stark, unblinking look at painful emotions in order to remove them from the mind. No avoidance, not masking them with fake happiness, not making them share the stage with other feelings. Hence, no fake happy ending or resolution in this MV because ridding oneself of painful memories is an ongoing process. Looking at it this way, it is even more impressive. Instead of focusing on the unopened door, we can see the effort to get there as the key theme, and be strengthened by that instead of crushed by the struggle.

I've been listening to D-Day more & more recently, especially since I saw Yoongi live at the end of April. Now I feel that, lyrically, he's the member that conveys feelings I can relate to the most. Obviously, we have vastly different lives, but seeing & hearing his emotional journey only reinforces the idea that we're all human dealing with our problems the best way we know how. I appreciate him for showing this because a lot of the time, it feels lonely when you're going through these internal struggles. A person like Yoongi putting his reality out into the world means so much, not only for his own healing but for the rest of us who don't feel seen. Ahh, I really love him so much. It changes you, erases you, and you find yourself staring at a stranger in the mirror, no longer the person you once was, but still having to find a way to live as this new identity. Sometimes, if your lucky, you can find some of those missing and broken pieces and put them back together. other times not so much.

The amygdala is commonly thought to form the core of a neural system for processing fearful and threatening stimuli , including detection of threat and activation of appropriate fear-related behaviors in response to threatening or dangerous stimuli.. This is really hard for me as an OG. The dark room is the represention of his mind ( in depress mode) I think. There he remembers all the darkest moment of his life. We as a OG ARMY knew about the shoulder of course, the self harmed, the suicide attempt, the mum heart surgery but all this was before BTS debut. Now the scene where he's trying to get out and he couldn't. Remind me of the only time he couldn't perform and was stuck on the bathroom floor crying. And he couldn't make himself leave the bathroom at the concert venue even to perform. Saddest day of my ARMY life. That concert was stop after 2 songs too many thing was going on. One member was at the hospital, Suga locked himself in the bathroom. Member were crying, ARMY was crying. Horrible memory. Suga after that wrote a letter asking for forgiveness and that he is ashamed and want to forget that day (something along those lines.) but it represent also him trying to overcome his depression, wanting badly but couldn't. Thank god his feeling much better. Look how far he comes from having panic attacks to touring on his own. I'm crying for so many reason.

I just saw Daechwita again and I think there is a line that says “you know my name”. “I don’t know your name” repeating, the scar, in this and his other two MV, all connected. Omg I feel like we’re inside something we shouldn’t be. That’s trust.

He tell everything about traumatic and hid scary on Amygdala, a controller of reaction for scared moment in the human brain. Proud for my Suga🫂. It was great to hear a Reacts video from someone familiar with more of Yoongi's work. I think this is the first time we’ve seen Yoongi depict his past self as a caring and innocent person who experienced suffering (rather than a dangerous enemy that needs to be destroyed), and wants to save them. In the Daechwita and Haegum MVs, we see this repeating theme of trying to kill off your old self when they become too dangerous or hurtful. Amygdala breaks that cycle. This Yoongi is very connected to his ‘past self’ who had the car accident, and even tries to reach out to him. Right at the end, when the rain starts, the past self sees him and runs to try and rescue him (although of course it’s impossible - the accident is set in stone and neither of them can escape it. They're stuck in their timelines, on opposite sides of the same door). They fail, but both the past and present versions really care for and try to help each other, which makes me think he's come to see himself in a more compassionate way over the years.

the song is fantastic but the video is a emotional artistic masterpiece!!! this was also a conceptually award winning work of art. i love the contrast of the black/grey room that is his brain and the bright colors of the real world. thank you for your reaction. the songs 'deachwita, 'heageum and amygdala go together, they are his complete story. suga just smashed it out of the park with his sold out concert tour ''d day and album sales that in 1 day....24 hours sold over 1 million physical copies on the day of release.💜

Anyone with past or present trauma can relate to this song and video. I’m 52 still trying to escape my traumatic experiences. They keep coming and I wonder why I keep wanting to live. If I didn’t have my kids and husband, I’d be dust in the wind. But living for them is easy. Living for myself is a little more complicated. Knowing you’re not alone is important. This is why I adore Yoongi. He’s always been my favorite member of BTS. And his solo projects are fantastic!!! Army mom forever! 💜💜💜🫰🏼

ohhhhh..... I thought I was done crying today ♡ SO the PTSD dream sequence leading into "the scene" destroyed me. To relive something every day, doing anything you can to distract yourself from the pain in your mind. SH, can be like any other addiction (I like that he depicted this too with the pills and the uphill climb that you pointed out). it is soothing to watch the wounds heal and close, it's soothing to be numb. It's like recieving closure that you will never get. Even the scars can be soothing. Yoongi said that this song is essentially a goodbye to Agust D that he is sharing with us. He doesn't even know if he'll continue use the surname again after the tour, and this is the final mixtape in the agust D trilogy, but we will always have suga and yoongi. Thank you for such a raw reaction...♡

Yoongi really opened up to us. This may be healing for him , to face his pain and trauma.. and for us, who are also going through the same thoughts... What really pained me about this song and MV, is finally knowing how he held all of this in. Not just while in pre debut, but through out his career. This are not really things you can just talk about in the open, not especially as an Idol who, aside from working hard , are always being hated on for no reason. Holding onto those pain, alone in your mind😭 .. knowing now that he was the one who inflicted that scar in order to cope with all the turmoil he must have been feeling, thus creating AGUST D, the one filled with anger, pain and malice 🥹 he was suffering and yet only tried to give us his best .. How must he have felt, after all his schedule and concerts, going back alone in his hotel room😭.. I'm glad he has his members with him ready to support and help him out. But after seeing this MV, I can never see that scar as anything but pain and proof of Yoongis strength and perseverance 🥹 thank u Yoongi for sharing us urself. you are strong . u deserve all the best . 🥹🥹🥹 #agustd #dday #amygdala

Naturally, I cried with all my heart! As long as I was watching the video, my tears did not stop. Yoongi’s words touched my heart and soul and expressed what was inside me and I felt his pain and feelings because I went through the same he went through from the accident i had from depression, sadness and the desire to commit suicide from childhood trauma, but inside me is a personality that wants to live and be happy and get rid of everything The pain, I resist every day and try to become stronger and pray to get rid of all the past and the bad thoughts that never leave my mind. It is really difficult and only those who are going through it feel it. Thank you Yoongi 💜

As someone who struggles with trauma of my own (r**e, physical and emotional abuse and having to hide how my mentality was affected) this song hit so hard for me. I watched this MV alone for the first time. I'm glad I did, because holy shit, the emotions that basically scream-cried themselves out of me were something I want no one to ever see. After that I have only watched other reactors react to it, and I still cry. Every. Single. Time. The rawness, the realness of Yoongi's story and especially the visuals, they get to me so hard, because they hit the bullseye of my own struggles. This is how I visualize my depression. Basically exactly these same visuals. Just that I don't even have a door or a couch. I literally float in darkness, untethered and unable to get a hold on anything. Yet somehow, watching the video over and over does help me. It hurts like a bitch, but it also helps. It opens me up more, gets me deep into my own amygdala and my subconscious starts working on my own issues more and more. I thank Yoongi every single day for having the courage to put this out for all of us to see. To have healed enough to show us all of this. And I thank you, Roscoe, for an empathetic reaction. This is all I'm looking for from reactions, to be fair. Just someone to cry with together, because I have no one to do that with in real life.

Yoongi has always been my ultimate bias and he's a music visionary and genius! Also to have him show his raw emotions, vulnerability and the trauma he's experienced and the bike accident that almost killed him while in training with BTS The way he sings and is seen in Amygdala is beyond incredible and inspiring. To bring awareness to suicide and mental health was amazing. As it's extremely taboo in south korea and unfortunately they have the highest suicide rate in their country. I've been affected by this with loss of many friends through suicide and this really made me so emotional.😢 It resonates so much and it's beyond brave of Yoongi to share and showing his traumatic scars. Also I've been on the other side of having dark thoughts like this through having experienced traumatic events. Yoongi always speaks his truth and volumes with his music and the M/V was extremely hard to watch but also to bring that much awareness was incredible.🙏🙏 This song has always been my favourite.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Anyone that is struggling with their mental health please speak to your friends and family and doctor. You will not be judged and don't be afraid to speak up you are not alone.🙏🙏💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 Thanks @ThisisRoscoe for reviewing such a hard subject and bringing more awareness. I love your channel and thanks so much with your incredible insights and hard work.🙌🙌 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🙏🙏

The spinning shot to me was so meaningful. That battle is not only for going up and out, but to me it depicts how there are forces that are continuously trying to drag him down. Yoongi literally opens up, with the rawest of emotions, the bravery to show your story to the world, for the sake of healing others. Oh how I hoped that the door opened at last, but I guess that’s what our life is about, to tray and struggle to find ways to open the door of hope and happiness.

For the people who don't know, the amygdala is a small part of your brain that contains the memories , so that's why he's asking his amygdala for help (English is not my 1st language so I can't explain it better but u find good information online about the amygdala) . Also om his Dday concerts liek the encore onse he was finally able to open this door on stage, I guess it was at the very last one, so he healed himself during yhe whole concerts (which u could also see in the concert by his emotions) and I guess that's also brilliant story telling

A great artist connects to humans on a whole different level then what just plain music already provides. I bawled my eyes out after watching/hearing this for the first time. Both because I equally moved by the artistry and music itself but specifically more because of the authenticity of what "get me out of here - save me" means to so many who have begged and pleaded their own minds of this mercy before. I pray everyone who struggles is allowed release and relief and gets to the other side of that door before it's too late. x

i know i'm two months late but i recently found the channel and i enjoy the reacts. I've noticed one of the absolute most heartbreaking parts of the MV is the only thing that causes the door to open, to free him from the pain of his trauma, is s*lf-h*arm in the form of the cut. The door ONLY opens that once, as he sits on the couch defeated and tired and hurting. People are driven to SH to escape feelings like that, despite it being an incredibly brief "distraction", hence the door closing before he can get out. Its never a way out, it only adds on more. The entire MV is heartbreaking and he's come such a long way, its an honor he feels he can share his pain and his story with the world.
