Directv Genie HR DVR Larger Guide - MENU Fonts FINALLY Arrived!! I can see again : )

Directv has finally released a version with larger fonts for the guide and menus. They also cleared up colors and sharpened the text all around for most menus, still some to work on. Latest version is version 0X1110 which you are able to update from 3 AM ET to 7 AM ET as shown in my firmware update video.
This version is supported on the following HR's and watch my other videos on how to update to the latest should you desire.

Global Left Menu font increase
Menu font increase for Row Header and Program Title & Description
Menu font color change for Highlighted cell and Hint
In the Menu, pressing SELECT on an item in “What’s On Now” will immediately tune to the channel instead of going to the info screen.
Fix One Touch Record behavior in Menu
Updated “Add/Edit My Teams” screen
Date format improvement throughout
Guide scrolling improvement (using Channel up or Channel down)
Smooth scrolling animation added to all lists (left menus, search menus, check boxes)
Progress bar now informs users when buffering will be finished.
Correct alpha sort to ignore articles (A, an, the)
Correct Playlist season sort to be latest first
Correct one touch play in Playlist so that the oldest episode plays first instead of the newest episode
Playlist font increases & color change for center title, highlighted and non-highlighted Program Title & Description
Remove episode info in Series Folder descriptions in the Playlist
Modify deletion message to include variable for episode or series name

Just forced my HR54 to upgrade to this firmware (0x1104). Significant difference in responsiveness and speed of the UI. It's not perfect, but its a massive improvement. Very noticeable. At first when I went to check how one of my wirelesss genie mini's benefited from the new software it was extremely slow and laggy. Much more than usual. But thank goodness after hitting the red reset button that stopped, and performance on the genie mini is improved as well. Nowhere near as significantly as the main HR54 box of course but it is better. Maybe it might get a little better when it gets its next firmware push, my C41-W is currently on 0x1011, and according to the DTV Firmware watcher website the latest version for the C41-W is 0x10D1. Hopefully AT&T can continue to squeeze more performance out of the software. Esp on the genie mini's, they need the most improvement. Esp since the newest hardware (Genie 2) has all of your TV's using genie minis and streaming from a headless client.

The HS-17 as most say is a step down and not a setup up, so I will be avoiding that for a while. The minis are slow and always will lag the HR but hopefully via software updates like you noted they will improve over time. The clients are slow to take updates and you can't really force it but time will tell. Thanks for the post! Some say the playlist and other things have been fixed in the latest.

How do I get the one you're showing? They updated it at the same time I was trying to reset the remote since I had to use the old one to change the channels and now it's not displaying RF/IF just saying I need to go back to DirecTV and not TV 1 or TV 2? System is not RF anymore?

Still waiting for them to get rid of that useless floating box in the playlist. If I want info I'll press the info button. The huge progress bar has to be eliminated also!

How do you change the font size on cc on Directv genie?

I do not like the look of this. You lose the 7th row and when scrolling past banner ads you have even less information in the guide. I miss the modern look of the logos. Is it too much to ask DirecTV for a simple option under display settings? They can default to this view fine, but power users or people with larger TV’s would have the choose to lower the font to get more information out of the guide at a time.

I liked the old layout better as more info on one screen for me is preferred. The latest layout is a black and white grid with large fonts. Lacks any coolness that's for sure.

I have question about the hs17. This may be the wrong place, but if you could help me I would appreciate it. I did an upgrade from the hr44 about a month ago. I am getting 2 to 3 second stop in the video and sound randomly. I have called them several times and they tell me it is in the OS. ver 0x1088 (7/13). Have you noticed this problem on your tv?

Hey there...love your channel. So this 0x110B update to my HS-17 broke my DirecTV iOS app. I can no longer connect to my DVR (neither from iPad or iPhone). Anyone else run into this issue?

What is the miscellaneous option under settings? That looks like something new that they just added in the CE beta.

search for "IAMANEDGECUTTER" and select, you will see the misc option but it's really for CE use as it also changes the backend servers you connect to for some services. "Clearmybox" gets rid of it and clears out the guide data for reloading.

The new 1104 firmware downloaded but the problem with a lot of the recordings missing in the playlist is still happening. Any ideas how to fix that?

I Hate It! I Hate It! I Hate It! I hate the set up I hate the color its not user friendly. I hate the fact you cant hit the 0 button when typing in a channel number.. Directv ruined a good thing
