Your governor ring is coming apart! You need to rebuild that pump now. Taking the check valve out will get you going but eventually the pump will run away.

Yup Ross nailed it!! Check valve is needed…clean it up and put it back in… you will not be able to make full power with it out as well as the low pressure fuel in the pump will be lower than it should be…. There are aluminum gov rings that fix the gov issues once and for all.

Clean out the fuel tank and all the lines! If you got black junk in the fuel, it's probably the black mold that grows in really old fuel. Great old tractor. , definitely worth restoring back to a healthy condition. 👍

Wow! I was working one summer of my friends. I got to use their "new" 4010 and a five bottom like yours. I got to the end of the field, miscalculated my turn and took out about a 100' of fence. At the end of the day I told Wilbur what had happened and I would come out on Sat. and replace the fence. He laughed, we were going to take that fence out before harvest this fall. I've never seen a 5020, I thought you had dummyed a label....LOL

You should try a head light so you can work with both your hands. Having a led lamp on a pole stand with wheels would give you a broader working light.

Sounds like the governor ring is coming apart, pretty common issue. Pump will need a rebuild.

Its definitely the governor ring and that check valve also holds pressure inside the pump housing. Without it, it wont idle with a mechanical lift pump only pumpin 7 psi ish. I would also pull injectors and lines. Have them checked and cleaned. Been down that road a few times.

I was going to say the same thing. It happened to ours. Its the governor ring. It will run without the check ball in the line, but it really needs it in there to maintain pressure in the long run. Rebuild the pump.

We switched from wd40 to Pb Blaster few years back. Its night and day better. With the addition of the turbo, wouldnt be a bad idea to turn the pump up!

Excellent video Brandon :) & Dads Strength that 5020 John Deere get 500ml worth Of Automatic transmission number 2 or 3 in fuel tank plus bleed injectors to and get grey bottle of STP Total Treatment fuel injection and carb cleaner in fuel tank to run that in fuel also clean that motor plus help motor running smooth too!

It seems like that you only need that check valve on an engine that is mounted higher than the fuel tank to stop bleed back like on a combine. I have deleted one on a Case 580 for the same reason without any problems. Ian Rose 🇦🇺

Put those felt washers on your batteries and you will have any problems with them as far as corrosion if you feel your fuel filter with diesel engine oil when you put them on it will help clean your engine and injectors I always done that on big trucks for years especially when they got miles on them

The other hole in the sway block is to allow you to flip it over so you can change the width of the sway block

Your governor ring in your pump is going to hell. Rusa Masters are notorious for this. That ring can be replaced with a new all steel one. Triangle diesel in Kankakee Illinois does all our pumps I don’t know if them guys can be beat in price or quality. Tell them you want a 10% turn up which is a good safe number.

Maybe someone has commented on this, but I'll bet it isn't long the o rings in the scv's start leaking. My 4010 sat for 9 months and they were bad, had to replace them.

Your governor ring was bad best thing is to get the pump rebuilt now getting rid of the check valve could cause more issues and it won’t allow pump to idle properly

Do you know what 30 series replace the 5020 n 4020 later series had side consoles which was a big hit never heard much if side console was carried over to 3020 maybe you got better ideas thanks you posting
