Some men find themselves preoccupied with reflections on the Roman Empire. I find it is rather the French Revolution that haunts my idle perceptions.

Oh I like this it takes the story progression vibe of like an old Styx type album has a vaguely cyberpunk feel to the beat and mv and the way the guitar just pulls along the live feel. I feel like everything you've been hitting lately is right in that sweet spot of relisten and learn the lyrics to sing along and it helps you put them right on screen.

When I first heard this song, the first image to come into my head was Mr. DeGraide singing with some sort of band on a stage in front of about 3-500 people in a cyberpunk city.

Oh! Another one already?! Nice! The like, square ripples for the lyric transitions at around 3:00 is a really cool detail You know, this song has always seemed slightly villainous to me, like it’s a short perspective flip over to the antagonist, but also with some context from the other songs it also almost kind of feels like someone playing into the antagonist role to inconspicuously spread a message in the guise of mockery. Not sure if anyone else feels either of those but it’s an interesting interpretation imo

I've been feeling that too. It's like the only way they can do baptisms with an omnipresent ai watching, is through "mockery."

Finally! My favorite song from the album! I love the whole live show feel to this one and just the whole theatrical vibe it gives. Please tell me I'll be able to get this on vinyl someday!

The fact that there was a vehicle portrayed in the Firebird album that was not Pontiac Firebird is not a little disappointing. On another note, this song + Empty are masterful, the music and the story couldn't be better.

I really enjoyed doing that. We are going to have a lot more of that on the next record. Heavy emphasis on the theatrical and story telling.

"Religious fools and stubborn mules that drove the world to the edge of doom" No lies detected. I don't know if this guy is supposed to be the typical cliche atheist character who eventually gets "cured" of his skepticism and faithlessness by the oh so "virtuous" religious character. But as an atheist I 100% agree with him here.

This song is an equal opportunity offender. The stubborn mules were the atheists of the past🤣 There is a third group that he is shilling for in this song - The people that worship their own creation.

I think he's actually a religious character putting in a show to get away with a public baptism. Or maybe was convinced that he should at least try to do it for the religious woman in All at Once.

You may one day discover that deception does not require lies. We must beware the unspoken conclusions drawn from a true statement. Just because behind us is the wrong way to go, does not mean that ahead of us is the correct way.
