This is a must watch for anyone who is picking up one of these. It's great to hear the highlights but even more important to know what mechanical issues to watch out for. On earlier models we preferred the Walker Evan shocks over the dynamics.. But more they don't have rebound adjustment. Great overview guys.

If you can control yourself with the power than this machine will be great. I think for those in Utah and similar areas will grab these machines. People need to have the right riding area's to fully enjoy a machine like this. This is not for the typical trail riding experience in the mountains. This is a beast for open sand rides, Rock crawling, and tracks. Nice to see a change in the industry and offers for different tastes. Great coverage on the machine. I think Polaris is the only off-road company really pushing the limits and offering machines that blow peoples minds. Can-am is close but the X3 hasn’t changed dramatically in years. 225hp seems like a lot for a sxs, but for a machine built as beefy as the Pro R and has the safety features that it has, then more HP the better. Love the progression of these and can’t wait to see what the future brings

To comment on the power levels & engine size, Having a full range in the line up is important. I think having a larger N/A engine in a great idea. I have always been in favor of larger engines as they don't have to work as hard to get the same results as a smaller engine. I can see where it may cause some issues with inexperienced drivers getting into trouble. While the owner would ultimately be responsible, having a lower powered key would help with some drivers (Hellcat & Demon comes to mind).

I believe that the power plant is actually an improvement by being naturally aspirated and reorienting the clutches to provide better cooling and easier access if needed out on he trail. The tweaks to he throttle body for low speed use should be beneficial when encountering obstacles

To me you can never have enough power. I like to go fast as I ride in the desert and Glamis. Sand robs power. So the more the merrier. Love the execution of the new RZR build. This just seemed like a natural evolution and can’t wait to see this engine platform evolve years to come. Biggest down side I see from this is coming from certain customers. In the States there is tension building from the Offroad community with local residents at Destination locations. Moab is a perfect example of that debate, as the cars get more capable and with that the continued demand for louder more aggressive aftermarket parts, locals are getting more irritated with our community. This RZR is for a certain environment but we know that some will take these Heavier bigger side by sides and put them in applications that they are not designed for leading that Excessive environmental damage further hurting our community. With that said, I also am looking forward to seeing Can Am answer to this.

All these people complaining about prices going up are also the same people that want manufacturers to put the newest greatest parts and tech into these machines. The amount of development going into these especially from Polaris and Can Am is no different than auto manufacturers now. If you want the newest and greatest you have to pay for that. If not then buy a lower end model at a price you can afford. From all the reviews I’ve seen that 2.0L 4 cylinder motor sounds like it’s a beast! To talk about power levels, I think it’s moving in the right direction for the SxS. Making it more aftermarket part friendly is only going to help. There is also the question how long until it’s just a sand rail or modded rock crawler in Polaris SXS shell. As well when does the regulation hammer drop on them? An put them in a different category of UTV. Great video as always
@RARufus Жыл бұрын
Here in Minnesota, anything over 65 inch width falls into out of the ATV2 category and into the OHV category where trucks exist. The ATV1 category goes to 50 inches wide.

4 cylinder N/A still isn’t enough, I’ve driven pro R’s in Michigan trails and it really needs a turbo. With that said I think in stock form for somebody that isn’t a gear head it’s perfect. I’ve been saying forever that all SxS’s are unpowered and I meant that in two ways. Yes they were to slow but also the motor is just working to hard all the time, even just cruising. Up till now the answer for me was a yxz with a turbo due to the direct drive transmission and clutch. I will be selling it and going to the pro r, either with a turbo kit I build or if Polaris comes out with a stock turbo before I sell the yxz I’ll go that route! Great video as always! 👍👍

Since you mentioned on a previous episode that this power plant was originally designed to be installed in a side-by-side later in life I wouldn’t doubt it if the next iteration has a DCT.. that would be so sick
@jasonkillsformomy2 жыл бұрын
Why would you want to complicate it with a DCT?
@Captndarty2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonkillsformomy because rubber bands suck and keep the RPMs much higher increasing the wear on the engine and makes the ride much noisier when you’re just slowly tooling down the road. I also recall CVT’s rob more power than a geared transmission. Hondas DCT in their Talon seems to be really enjoyed just not the power…
@jasonkillsformomy2 жыл бұрын
@@Captndarty A small price to pay for something that has been proven to be reliable for decades. A DCT is not as reliable, more complex and more expensive. You can't drive a DCT the same way as a automatic or a CVT. In a car you can destroy the clutches in a DCT within a few thousand miles if you don't know what you're doing.
@Captndarty2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonkillsformomy you’re wrong. Honda has been using their DCT for half a decade in the Africa Twin. The same motor that’s in the Talon. You can smoke a belt just as easily if you don’t know what you’re doing between high and low range. You can’t compare a sports car DCt to a purpose built off-road DCT.
@jasonkillsformomy2 жыл бұрын
@@Captndarty No I'm not wrong. A DCT is not as reliable, more complex and more expensive. That is a fact. Even if they were in the future somehow be able to make them as reliable they would still cost more for manufacturers to produce and for consumers to buy and more complex to build and repair. Firstly how many percentage of Africa Twins were sold with DCT And what is the reliability percentage compared to a normal gearbox? Without those statistics we don't know the answer if it's any good. Secondly no other manufacturer makes more four stroke engines than Honda so they know a thing or two about engineering. Just because maybe Honda can get it to work doesn't mean that the rest of the ATV industry can produce a DCT as good. I'm aware that you can smoke the belt. Nothings bulletproof, but people who buy ATV's and sleds are used to them. The same can't be said for DCT. A DCT doesn't know if it's on road or off-road. If there are some big technical differences then by all means elaborate. And I mean mechanically and not software or just different clutch plates. I'm not a fan of ether or automatic. Unless you're disabled you should drive a manual.
