Today on Figuring Out we have the co-founder of Oziva, Mihir Gadani in conversation with Raj Shamani.
His brand is worth more than 300 crores and is a top preference among people in India. They have a repeat purchase of 60% which is a golden standard in their industry. Oziva is India’s first brand that has received a Certified Clean label and qualifies as a Clean Nutrition Brand in India.
In this episode, we spoke about how personal care brands, wellness, and nutrition brands work. We discussed what are science-based and what are pseudoscience-based products, how brands make huge sales by using trending ingredients in their products, and more. Mihir also shared the top 2 things that are missing in India’s curriculum and how including them can make a difference. He shared an interesting story of how he started Oziva, the challenges he faced, and how he grew it year by year.
The most interesting part of our conversation was when he revealed some shocking facts about the supplements we take and how they are made. He also busted some common fads most of us believe in.
Towards the end, he also shared why Unilever partnered with Oziva while it was at a growing stage and also revealed some niches that have a huge potential in health and wellness but are going unnoticed.
Watch the entire podcast to listen to this super insightful conversation now!
Until next time, don’t forget to subscribe to our channel to not miss out on our new episodes, because we release new episodes every Wednesday and Saturday.

"I believe this podcast serves as a marketing strategy. Undoubtedly, Oziva is good, but there's another brand that's performing well too. However, the essential point is that food serves as the best supplement. I've observed numerous South Indian laborers who live in poverty and consume simple meals such as rice with rice water, known as 'mad' or 'Ganji,' or sometimes just water and salt along with an inexpensive pickle. Surprisingly, their physical strength surpasses that of many builders, without the need for a gym or supplements. They are healthier than us, and it's evident that Ayurveda and 'ghar k nuske' are not pseudoscience. Thank you."

South Indians generally have a strong genetic build that's why the strength and also their diet contains non veg that is highly nutritious I don't know how good his products are and we have to choose a better alternative for ourselves. I think his vision is good, bcause most of the popular brands fool us anyway. He at least is offer some transparency.

It's best to get your nutrition from food. Add as much variety and colorful vegetables, fruit, dals, dairy, etc. into your diet. It's far more expensive to supplement. To lose weight, just go low, low carbohydrate. I lost 10 kg being mindful as to where the carbs are coming from. Avoid all sugars and starches; vegetables that grow underground, fruit, and vegetables that taste sweet. Fats and oils are not the problem. I have butter, ghee, olive oil, nuts, etc. I battled my weight from the age of 12. At 72, I discovered this way to drop weight. No calorie counting, and if you avoid the carbohydrates altogether, you will never feel hunger. Do you have the discipline to never eat rice, wheat etc? I am 77 now and dont have a weight problem, as long as I adhere to these rules. I discarded all traditional eating and have been vegetarian for 30 years now. I exercise daily and began treking at 70. Try it - no supplements.

Natural way for vitamins D - - sun (morng walk) And you eat all kinds of pulses in raw sprouted forms it takes care of protein and make sure you eat all kinds of vegetables and fruits in your deit as day passes For hormones balance do 15 days once 18hr to 72hr fasting acc to your body resistance, it improves your hormane balances and increases growth hormones that's helps in overall physical health and improves your blood quality, all your skin disease will end eventually it takes time but natural is good And final is stress free life takes care of your hair loss, moods, sex life and start playing physical games to balance health To balance craving of tongue eat your junk only once in 10days and dont bring extra parcel for home😂 Use coconut oil for healthy hair and you can use also for cooking oil, groundnut oil, olive oil, mustard seed oil Watever it is stick to natural ways Final donate atleast 1%of your income (buying foods or giving something whoever needs) it gives another level of satisfaction.

When we take tablets it might affect our kidney function and very much in need of water intake, otherwise it may lead to kidney stone. So always it is better to add चुना in your diet. I really admire the session and agree with the fact that the education related to a nutrition should be added to the curriculum . Like in our Indian curriculum there are just chapters like components of food and people just know like there are some mineral vitamin carbohydrate but they don't know the actual fact about it. As I am a teacher and teach yesterday about the component of food and there is a very limited content regarding it I don't know if someone agree with me or not but at the last he is the only one person like I listen to him to a worry about the women's held and know about their structure of leaving for example puberty menopause and etc in sector and that's a very impressive

@devdathmdsouza
@devdathmdsouza 5 ай бұрын
Our gut is second brain which is well tuned and genetically programmed to accept anything natural our ancestors consumed in natural form. Anything synthetic or unnatural is recognised and sent to liver to dispose. Anything still moves ahead doesn't recognised by gut bacterias and are discharged as stool. Fatty liver is caused by processed foods rather than foods in natural form.

Dude, take your statement back: "We focus on nutient absorption, science and no side effects". Boss, why does oziva multivitamins contain Cyanocobalamin form of B12, that causes a side effect known as B12 toxicity. Disadvantages of consuming cyanocobalamin: 1. Heart issues 2. Anxiety 3. Headaches 4. Insomnia 5. Akathisia (A state where you won't be able to rest easily, can't sit still) 6. Sometimes may feel suicidal 7. Acne and red skin. Please stop using toxic synthetic derivatives. And you ask the customers to use it for 4 to 6 months to see the results. This is crazy. Why not use B12 methylcobalamin? I mean, not everyone buys your product blindly. Guys, synthetic ingredients doesn't work well and they do more harm than good. Authentic vitamins and minerals are costly, like Rs.2.5K+. Synthetic ingredients can't be absorbed by your body fully. And it's toxic. So, spend your money on authentic ingredients. Right?

Hi Raj thanks again for wonderful podcast again, I have something to share, I had kidney stones around 8 a year ago and a year ago I started taking whey protein everyday and I was worried too that it may increase my stone, but this didn't happen even with proper diet and proper hydration my stones got reduced... So it is a clear myth that just protein increases stones.

It doesn't always have to be a rags to riches story. On one point the other cofounder did her MBA from INSEAD (MBA course fee 1 Cr) and left her job without a second thought and you were struggling for capital even for 5k

I have a doubt over his claims. He is taking inspiration from Ayurveda texts for extracting required nutrient. But in case of Calcium he is making "Choona" as something that is not good. But Ayurveda itself recommendeds Choona also known as Slaked Lime (Calcium Hydroxide) as an excellent source of Calcium. So instead of recommending slaked lime, he is selling overpriced calcium that he claims to be extracted from Ashoka bark. In Whey Protein he says look for what kind of flavouring is used, instead of recommending unflavoured Whey Protein because his own company is only selling flavoured Whey protein.

Based on what I've learned from Mihir Gadani, it's better to avoid spending money on expensive supplements. Instead, dedicate time to take care of your own body. Remember, many are primarily interested in making money. Invest time in learning about herbs and their uses from ancient texts. Begin by using small quantities and familiarize yourself with how they are prepared. After all, your body deserves care, not to be treated like a dustbin. This approach will not only be beneficial but also cost-effective. 👍

Sheep Wool is not non-veg. Don't they make sweaters out of sheep wool? May be Vegan people would reject but Veg people would not have problem, I think.

Dear Raj, If you can make a video on nepotism which is so deep in the Bollywood industry, It will be great and Kudos for making every topic so educational. There's another topic I would like to suggest, it's about the Indian sport academy. In spite of the most populated country why it's so hard to reach for the Gold🏆 in Olympic Games. Rest you're doing a great job..India needs more concerned people like you, You know what I mean..Keep going, Keep exposing! 💯🎤👍
