Poverty is big business. Ask anyone familiar with the inner workings of the NGOs and non profit organizations. Even junk is big business. I work for a thrift store picking up donations, and they would get furnitures for free, roll them into the store's showroom and stick a $300-600 price tag on them. They wouldn't accept anything with a dent or anything that needed cleaning. From truck to showroom. Add their tax break and they were making millions.

Whenever i see someone homeless it makes me think about him because if he didnt have family and me to support his healthcare he wouldn't be able to afford to care for himself. Because the medication he needs to treat it is thousands of dollars. And being in constant pain makes maintaining a healthy weight harder when you already struggle with it. And when you dont have access to home cooked food, theres no way to control your intake. Its so easy for people to just say oh diet and exercise. Oh get a job. And sweating or having any kind of cut can lead to collections of inflammation and infection under the skin call cysts. Also, the area around swells. I’m facing homelessness right now & have a physical disability. I’ve never felt the kind of fear I now live with. I require assistance but have gone without. At least I was in a safe place for a few years. Now, that’s going away. Putting a disabled person on the streets is akin to a death sentence. I don’t know that I’ll be here much longer. I have a sun allergy, mobility issues, strict dietary needs & have seizures. Shelters are terrifying, especially if you’re a woman. Rape is part of the risk. I always told myself if I reached this point, I’d “remove myself from the equation” so that I could at least go with dignity. Social services, Social Security & Medicaid sound good on the surface but without a healthy person advocating for you, neglect is inevitable. Even social workers are limited in ways they’re allowed to help. Mine wasn’t legally allowed to help me find housing.

Like maybe the government _perceives_ migrants as a source of cheap labor that take hard-to-fill jobs, and maybe the government _perceives_ homeless people as too mentally ill or addicted to work. Basically “If we (& the big corporations who bought our loyalty) can’t make money off you right now, you’re on your own.” (of course, nobody in power can be bothered to examine the root cause of _why_ some homeless people have problems that keep them from working.) That was on them and they have to answer for that once they passed on. You two have each other now, live your lives and forget them. People are messed up , just because it's family doesn't mean you get the Brady Bunch. Family can be worse than strangers, be glad you two found each other, you can make your own little family.

You cannot feed the homeless here in ocala Florida you go to jail for it. 30 days . They' give the homeless a jail cell as a shelter who wants a jail cell as shelter the price are not very nice to the homeless here.

I'd rather freeze in Alaska than to be "warm" in a cold, heartless state like Florida. Their governor has got to step down.

I don’t get why they constantly have to move. It’s crazy. They just go somewhere else. It’s horrible to move all the time. Why doesn’t the government give them a designated place for tenting so they can stay put? Also crazy to fine homeless people who have very little money to start with.

It is absolutely insane that the homeless cannot have the benefit of cooking on bbq grills in the park that is provided by the park. As a little girl growing up in California bbq in the park went hand in hand in the park.. So the grills got removed according to what the homeless community says. I don't like Grants Pass & will never ever visit there.

I've heard it described as the unsheltered and homeless.The unsheltered I feel are the people who do not choose.So can any charities provide bathrooms and some sort of refrigeration?

This isn't fair. I'm disabled also. I need a spinal fusion, which is planned for October. I also have fibromyalgia, sleep apnea, hashimotos on top of depression and severe anxiety. I'm facing being homeless. I only get 700$ a month.

Why do they not open up a field in every town or city for the homeless. Make designated places for them with services. In the end it would be cheaper. Although this guy can still afford to smoke so he could cut that out and save something.
@InvisiblePeople2 ай бұрын
Why don’t they fix the affordable housing crisis and prevent homelessness in the first place? That’s the question. Opening up a field for people to camp is not a solution. People need housing and support services.
@situzen185Ай бұрын
Just curious, Sir, how much do those smokes take out of your approximately $1,000 month disability payment?

Try canned food, ramen noodles, and dried food, jurkey ETC. You are camping outside, do what campers do, or deployed soldiers on training maneuvers.

Do, or do NOT. I'm disabled law enforcement. Had my throat cut to less than a centimeter on the job. I get 1000 a month in disability. Anyone know where I can live and eat for that much? Because they say I make too much for food stamps. America doesn't care unless you are working able bodies so you continue to Work for them and you pay taxes in which makes the rich richer. After all all the tax breaks in the last 4 years with Trump with to the 1% rich. They don't even want disabled people living in America. If you don't work they don't want you here even if you became disabled while working.

Im from poor country, we lived in 2-3 bedroom apartment with 1 bathroom, only washer no dryer, we lived 2 people per room and split equally all the bills. Maybe thats not exclusive life but better than street. Why Americans have expectations to live in own apartment by itself. All he needs to do get few guys like him without addiction an get 2bd, 3 people with minimum income should be able to pay.
