As somebody who was sex trafficked as a minor during 2020, whose pimp had them predominantly use discord, you are truly doing these kids a huge favor. You have no idea what can be happening in their DM‘s, or in private vcs. The worst part about it is that I didn’t realize that it was trafficking until I went to rehab and I was talking to my therapist about it and she told me that’s what happened to me. Unless it is kidnapping, or at the very bare minimum, happens in person, people will not and do not take the majority of sex trafficking cases seriously. I’m glad that I at least now understand the severity of what happened to me and that I was manipulated and threatened into a situation that I would not have otherwise found myself in, especially if I was not in such a vulnerable place at that period of my life. But minors can usually get influenced to do this kind of shit if they don’t have healthy support systems in place, and are easily tempted by the promise of drugs or money. Of course, majority of these kids are probably just lonely and don’t have any friends and are trying to find a way to connect to people with the only outlook that they have if in person socialization is too hard for them. With that being said, you never know. I’d suggest checking out sugar daddy servers next, since you’ll find a lot more abhorrent shit there

True story, I one encountered a 15-year-old 'femboy' selling nudes to people on Discord (which to my limited knowledge may as well have been to pedophiles). Luckily, I manage to talk him out of continuing such acts. He really is a good kid and just wanted some money, yet he didn't know how. I provided him some advice and some insight as to why what he was doing was bad. Few hours of talking later, we are now friends, and he has since quit selling nudes. But yeah, this and minors e-dating is a HUGE problem on Discord. Edit/Update: His account I cannot access anymore because either Discord banned it or he deleted it himself. Either way, he is safe and I'm glad I managed to talk him out of these acts.

Absolute worst time to be a minor. These servers have been around for a while now, I myself was groomed in 2019 (I was 14) by MULTIPLE men (the oldest groomer was past 60 years of age) on these servers. I was pressured into sending NSFW photos of myself and then later blackmailed with those photos. These men found where I lived, threatened and DID dox me. I was a troubled kid coming from a terrible upbringing, I had undiagnosed---at the time---PTSD, was isolated due to my sexuality and suicidal. It"s terrifying to me. I'm going to share a bit of my story here, but it's pretty long, and pretty sad. It's been years actually. I got my first discord account at 12years old, in 2017. I used to talk to my cousin on skype, playing minecraft, but she moved to discord, so did I. My parents barely ever monitored my internet access, whom I was talking to, what I was doing. Few months gone by and I started understanding how discord worked, servers. I joined an anime community discord server, yeah it's a little different then what's talked about in the video, but the result was the same. I chatted a bit with some people. I ended up making friends with a 20years old. I wouldn't see an issue then, it was just friendly chatting. And then I ended up "dating" him. I was 13 years old at the time. Still, I wouldn't see an issue. I met up with him, at an anime con, I don't know if it was instinct, but I felt something was strange. I knew I wasn't supposed to be here, furthermore, I knew I was in danger. I ran as fast as my little legs could, hid, and called my dad whom picked me up only a few minutes later. I never explained my parents what happened, who I was with, but that surely traumatised me. I won't go into details onto what he's done to me prior to that, but it's ugly to think of. Maybe it was my fault for being on discord at such a young age. Or being careless as to talking to strangers. I mean, it wasn't exactly the server's fault, it didn't advocate for dating nor minors dating. But no one saw an issue in general chat seeing a 13years old befriending a 20years old. No one saw an issue seeing them "dating" (I can't not put this in quotation marks, It hurts too bad to refer to this as anything else but grooming, but that's what I thought it was back then.) And even if they did, they didn't say shit. No one said anything to me, no one warned me, no one told me to stop. And it goes the same to him, as far as I know. I hadn't seen anyone telling him he's a creep, a pedo. If anything, I probably wouldn't have listened if anyone had tried to warn me, I was a stupid little girl. But I'm pretty sure the grown ass men on the server could've given that guy a good beating. Especially since there were some of his own IRL friends there. But no, none of his friends said a word. None of the admins warned anyone, no one in this server EVER did anything even though we were both openly "together", and talking a bunch. I'm sure people thought it was weird but why had no one questioned it directly. Why had no one dmed me, or him. Why. I never pursued any charges, and I regret it cause I know he's done that to other minors afterwards, one of my friends actually, and two girls whom I don't know. Maybe even more to this day. These girls got it worse than I did, but it's not my place to talk about it. I wish I had told my dad everything and we'd pursued charges. I've felt guilt eversince, thinking If I did something and he got locked up, maybe I would've saved other girls.

My daughter uses discord, and she is 13. In fact, I was the one that introduced her to it so it was easier to ping eachother at distance or to pass information back and forward like images or code (because we both write code). I shed no detail in describing to her internet predators and the freaks she will run into online or what their intentions are. This is why, as an 18 year old girl, I have never joined public discord servers, only servers that my friends control. IDC if it is a normal server, there are freaky people. Even in the servers that have NOTHING to do with dating.. I just do not feel safe talking to anyone that I don't know in real life. Like, I just want to make friends -- preferably other girls my age w/ the same interests... but I think most people my age use discord solely for dating. Maybe sounds corny to say as an 18 year old girl but it's so strange... like, wtf.

Just want to say that there is another definition to "Littles" I have heard of. It's not necessarily under the person's control because it can be related to D,I.D (Dissociative Identity Disorder) which is a disorder formed from severe trauma at a young age, which can cause the mind to have multiple personalities. In short, a "Little" can also fall into the same definition category because their mind can think they are a child. It's very complicated. Still weird it was even brought up in their server rules though. I have 0 idea if they are referring to the definition you said or the D.I.D definition.

I agree with the fact there is clearly a problem with these discord communities not doing anything to keep minors out of them, but your personal opinion on how other adults date is pretty irrelevant and you'll just have people say you're on some weird crusade to stop edating and using the issue for an ulterior motive. (@8:47) Some people don't live in great communities, sadly, and talking to people irl doesn't really lead to anything fruitful. It's also not like predation can't happen in those settings, Hell, the first time I had weirdos harassing me as a minor WAS irl, I was 11 years old and it was a group of late teenage boys (16-19 if I had to guess, definitely late HS if not early college.) A friend of mine had a guy who worked at a store in the mall try to grxxm her, and this was all before the Internet. These people exist out there too, unfortunately. If anything, at least the screen puts a level of protection that doesn't exist IRL, to say nothing of date grape, etc. that is also more likely to happen irl as far as adult experiences. That isn't to say you can't meet nice people irl too, but this insane, myopic condemnation of technology/online dating just because YOU have a personal problem with your usage of the internet is arriving at the wrong conclusion. There are risks and benefits to every form of dating, whether online or offline, and you can find people who are better suited for you re: common interests online than offline, especially if you're nerdy and not from a huge city. I don't want to pretend to be into some stupid sports or reality tv nonsense just to be able to talk to people, and politics/current events conversations are no longer something people can rationally talk about even irl. To say nothing of MeToo basically making men too anxious to approach women irl. If you don't conform to some manner of organised religion or like structure, you're also not going to find much community, and at least in the US, a lot of socialisation is centred around drinking and alcohol, so unless you like babysitting drunk people, that isn't going to be a lot of fun either. That's just my personal take though. Of course, online has issues like it is easier to catfish, but I'm just saying both have pros and cons, and you can't recommend something broadly to someone you don't know or say one method is inherently superior to another, even via your own personal experience. Like for a basic person who likes all the mainstream slop and has common hobbies, irl is probably better, and that is fine, but if you're not that you're going to be out of place unless you live in a big city where you're more likely to meet people who also don't fit a cookie-cutter mold. But all that aside, and your obviously misplaced bitterness towards technology and your illusory perspective that romanticises irl without presenting the very real risks of it (especially for women, but tbh for men too), yeah these dating communities that refuse to adequately moderate and expel minors are absolutely a problem, and you've done good work in bringing that to light at least. It is shameful that someone who is a moderator doesn't see the obvious issue with a 15 year old putting themselves out there like that, and just the utter disregard for young boys that unfortunately is prevalent in our culture generally ("he likes older women" bs, he is a CHILD), not even just in these online communities.... It is disgraceful and Discord needs to do something about it 100%.

A small correction regarding littles: the term can also be used in a SFW way to describe someone who mentally regresses to a younger age, and when they regress isn’t necessarily within their control. I knew someone who was a little and she said that when she regressed, she felt like her body was smaller than it actually was (e.g., once, when she was little, she drew us standing next to each other, and she drew herself as being much shorter than me, even though I was shorter than her irl). She would also talk and act more like a child, and it wasn’t within her control or used for kink purposes.

A little is also a term for those with dissociative identity disorder where one of the alters is of a very young age. This is a severe disorder caused by extreme trauma at a young age. I have a few people with DID in my server and do not allow the littles to talk at all without supervision from an alter who is older and usually in a caregiving role in the system.

As someone who was groomed as a very vulnerable child (being autistic as well as having very inactive parents) from the ages of 12-17 by adults in discord servers, this stuff is the reason I can't trust people online or even us social media like discord without feeling scared. I only realized 2 years ago that what was happening was grooming and disgusting, and the fact ik some of these people worked together to find a minor like me who didnt understand what was happening was evil and when they either got blocked or no longer had interest or got what they wanted I should say they would pawn of victims to each other It makes me feel horrible knowing if the parents of today dont take further action in their childs internet life, it going to happen and is happening rn. These predators have seriously gotten good at making everything seem normal and ok, and now, with AI getting as good as it gets, it's truly only gonna get worse if we dont make some kind of stand against this. I hope everyone who is and has been affected by this age of predators this is able to give themselves peace knowing that you were only a child and how would you have know better if no one was truly helping you.
