I know you have good intentions my man, but discord is the LAST place you want that kind of server. Allow me to tell a story that hopefully serves as a lesson. As a grown man that grew up with discord as a young minor, I’ve come across way too many creepy older men. I was in a group when I was about 14-15, and a lot of us in the group were around 13-16. (We had some normal adults) The group was “supposedly” led by a guy we called Fred. We were originally a Danganronpa RP group, and that’s what we mostly did. This guy was about 19 at the time, and he developed a very strange relationship with a girl in the group that was 13 at the time. (According to him, he said “I’d make a better boyfriend than (14 yr old boy) to (13 yr old girl)”. So apparently this grown ass man thought he was in romantic competition with KIDS. He even had a friend (that was in our group btw) we called Al (Or Almazu) that was about 20-21 at the time, dating a 13 year old girl. Fred was always very quick to defend Al for dating a minor. At the time, I was young and didn’t have the gall to speak up. I didn’t realize how disgusting this whole situation was. I was invited into another group separate from that one by people in our group, calling out Fred and his friend for being pedos. Fred and Al did not like this, and weaponized everyone they could in the group against ANYONE in that group. I thought at the time maybe we were in the wrong for criticizing them, they tried manipulating us into thinking a 13 year old dating a 20 year old was normal. At some point I want to post this story with more detail to spread awareness. But for now, you get the gist. Oh yea, and one more thing. We should dig a hole, and tell pedophiles to jump in. You want there to be resources out there for them to learn from, otherwise they either learn from porn, or worse, they experiment alone in unsafe ways. Of course that needs to start with adults in their life given safety talks. Doesn’t matter who, could be a sex Ed class of their parents, but somebody needs to explain to them what sex is, how a period cycle works in relation to how people get pregnant, how birth control works, how to wear a condom, and finally some basics about STIs. You then need a place teens can search questions about it, and no, a doctor isn’t always the correct answer. The second you limit them to only being able to ask doctors you limit information to only kids whose parents are supportive and can afford to see a doctor. + doctors don’t know everything. Misinformation is common in doctors too.

The Internet has so much worse that kids will typically find searching this stuff (especially knowing how data collection and social media work, it's a very bad combination), it's much better to learn intimate things in a safe environment by the people who care for you. Plus, the doctor thing was only if someone felt they had a medical issue, they shouldn't be searching up online what could be wrong instead of seeing a licensed professional. My solution to these problems would be to help instruct parents on how to create a safer environment for their child in these conversations so that the parents can monitor the safety of their children in answering any further question. It's much better to let a parent search this information if they don't know than letting the child since parents can filter the harmful information. Letting kids freely explore this content online is what led them into a server like this, so why should that be the solution?

Teens are never going to ask their parents those questions. Pre internet kids learnt this stuff from older teen boys, or from the few same aged kids who had access to porn. Obviously it wasn’t good or even true advice, but it was better than nothing to these kids. It’s all well and good to encourage today’s parents to be approachable, but 1: you can encourage it as much as you want, but it’s still not a solution to this current issue Because the truth is this would take decades to be effective. 2: kids still won’t ask. That’s not to mention that you need to teach kids to research it themselves. They can’t be 18 and learning how to google for the first time. But that’s really another topic. Obviously discord still isn’t a safe option. But the internet is still a solution. What you need is sites or books written by doctors answering all those common questions around sex in a factual way. Then you give those teens access to the site. And no, Mayo clinics isn’t good enough.

Tbh they had an idea, but they’re not the correct ones to execute it. Discord is too predatory & you shouldn’t trust strangers on the internet with very personal shit like that. Which is why it’s best to leave that type of shit off the internet in general. I feel like it COULD work in theory, but Discord just isn’t the place for it. Especially when there’s predators there. And there’s no real way to verify anything so, best to just not try it. Leave it in school.

I generally support the server being shitty, but as someone nearing 30, calling the "vent" channel "it's just hormones" is like... Man. I'm glad that your youth was uneventful except hormones. I've met people who's parents took drugs, beat them and their siblings, who had their parents and siblings die, who were bullied relentlessly at school, who didn't have a bed to sleep in, and who slept in cars. Just because it's a teenager, doesn't mean their problems aren't real. I'm genuinly happy for you that you made that comment without thinking twice, but, like, it's still weird. Lots of teens go through some horrible shit, and want to vent. I'm also not saying that venting in public and a channel like this is good or helpful, either. It's probably not a great place. But, like, still, telling someone their problems are small without knowing them sucks, that's the only thing I have a problem with.

Yeah ngl that comment caught me off guard too I spent my teenage years in a very dark place I was being abused sexually and physical by my family/friend of the family and I was told so many times itll get better being a teenager is just like this that I spent my teenage years convinced nothing was wrong with me despite something obviously being mentally wrong and telling myself when Im older surely it will get better once I hit the age of 20 and nothing had improved i attempted suicide and almost succeeded I had to get 42 stitches but im doing a lot better now but if someone would have just acknowledge i was obviously bad mentally and need help besides telling me it will get better when im older im just a teenager then i mightve not had to wait so long for it to get better

THIS, SO MUCH THIS. i had extremely severe cptsd (still do but the symptoms were the worst around 14-16 because of my living conditions at the time) and i hate it so so sooo much when people blame it all on hormones because like, no normal mentally healthy person ever feels this bad just because of hormones, bffr :/ the adults in my life even at my worst moments used to blame it all on hormones, you don't have the energy to even eat? hormones, you can't fall asleep and you can't stay awake? hormones, you attempt? hormones; it's so disgusting and disingenuous and ESPECIALLY gross during mens mental health month, im honestly very disappointed :(

Tbh I'll admit something similar happened to me when I was younger but right here on YT. I had questions about male health and a video regarding uncut came up. So basically if you're a younger guy and have foreskin, this is around the time it starts to slowly detach from the tip so it can be movable. It's natural but can be kind of scary/painful at first. There were many comments (clearly adults, some from the channel) telling younger guys what to do, remedies, warm water techniques, etc. But then they would do things like track their "progress", make it needlessly sexual by telling them to move it a certain way until it feels really good, and then cheer them on for it. It was absolutely digusting and reporting wouldn't work because it was all "educational". I deleted my old acc because I gained subscribers and got scared. I even saw them comment on the kids' channels too. So when I saw the "cut or uncut" roles on this video I could already see what is happening. It can very easily give them an excuse to talk about hand contact with you. Be careful out there you guys
